Noticed a new colorway in the latest edition of tennis magazine, so "someone" must have some of these, but all the online stores including TW are sold out in the EE's and are saying August until they are available.

This must be the colorway Brittany mentions in the "Ask TW" section:
We haven't gotten confirmation they are all coming (some times a color or two will get dropped in the current market with supply chain issues) but the colors look to be Violet, Night Sky and Fuchsia.

Thanks,
Brittany, TW

They have mf scales! Its a little more than a touch lol
You also wear these?
I'm getting a pair.
did you end up getting one?
It's an awesome shoe.
Did you get these in standard or wide?
I was testing it
Can you compare the toebox width AND overall length to any of these (of the same size)?

SoleCourt Boost
Court FF1
Gel Resolution 8
BluShield 5
BluShield Fly 3
AG-LT21
Vapor NXT
Cage 4
Vapor X
GP Turbo
UltraShot 2
Eclipsion 2

And any heel slippage (upwards or sideways)?

Lastly, did you use 2E or standard width?

Thanks a lot

I do not because they look like dinosaur eggs. I much prefer the 996 line

I was able to find a pair of the all white version in my size online, although I wear a EE and these are D's, I'll have to make do until the new ones are released I guess.

How does the width (toebox) in STANDARD D compare with these:

SoleCourt Boost
Court FF1
Gel Resolution 8
BluShield 5
BluShield Fly 3
AG-LT21
Vapor NXT
Cage 4
Vapor X
GP Turbo
UltraShot 2
Eclipsion 2

If you ever tried them

The outsole on the V2 is so much better ! Lasts twice as long at least.
That's good to know. I plan to get a pair when they are released even though I just bought some Yonex shoes because I have never tried a shoe from them before.

Yeah, they looked like V1's - maybe a clay court version ?
Easily could be. Opelka’s known for his clay court change in shoes. Last year, he used Gel Challengers during the clay season. Maybe Fila just doesn’t have good quality clay shoes idk

Gel Challengers
What is the deal with these? Supposedly was a budget shoe yet a few pros (I know gasquet were also partial to these) are super into them.

What is the appeal? And are there other 2nd tier shoes which garner a similar following?

Not sure entirely. I haven’t used Challengers since like I was 12 but I always thought they felt generally the same to me. Same outsole too so durability was good too.

Another 2nd tier shoe that I can think of that was used by a pro was Adidas Defiant Bounce shoes. A lot of juniors used it don’t get me wrong but Halep used them during her late tenure with Adidas which was weird. I was also watching some WTT in Orlando and noticed a couple pros there were wearing Adidas GameCourts as well but they were on the bench and not sure if they were match shoes. Mikael Ymer is known to use older models Barricades too. I’ve seen him wear his Barricade Team shoes which I barely saw anyone in general wear.

tldr wider than asics overall. wider toebox than diadora.

I've worn the challenger, gel res, and blueshields. The lav 2 fits imo more like an older model blueshield. maybe the 3 im thinking about. but has a much more significant heel to toe drop more akin imo to the diadora fly (but with the ag's stability and comfort). So wider than the gel res (which feels like youre walking a tight rope). I wear my normal size in the new balance. double up on socks. plenty of toebox room to land into. But not as wide as a hypercourt express overall. Lav 2 selling point for me is top notch stability and comfort with a solid lacing and tongue system. I'm at six months with a pair and it's getting tough to use on outdoor courts, which are rougher on shoes. The soles are pretty much flat. But they still lace up and lock my foot in better than any other shoe I've found. The heel to toe drop is nice in counteracting the weight of the shoe. I usually like minimal drop, but the lav 2 has significantly helped my movement. And usually shoes last me like 3 months before I feel like they're going to break apart covering the baseline.

challenger 10 was amazing. basically the gel res minus the price tag and heavy extra stuff. had a more natural feel while maintaining stability. Not as narrow, imo, as the newer asic models. which i stopped wearing.

the Gasquet pro is supposedly like the challenger

Asics and LAVv2 both in standard width right?

Thanks for all the details dude!

Yeah both standard. Fwiw the hyper court supreme felt pretty roomy in the toe box. But it also might be due to a lack of support. I only tried them on. I’ve also heard amazing things about the roger pro. Wide toe box. And a more minimal heel to toe drop

the classic dillema. The confort of a soft upper vs the support of a hard upper.

Also re: rogers

The outsole is a match-day type sole. I splurge on shoes but im not that rich. If the Rogers come out in herringbone im getting them 100% though!

As in shallow treads/soft material? As in 200 bucks for a month of outdoor wear? My fearhand isn’t that good. I remember when the rf broke the 200 dollar price tag. Now every Wilson racquet is well over that. And with all these “fast” shoes I’m somehow happy to pay 150 for the lav.
