Nole Fans, I had a Bad Feeling about..

I know, like first of all he wasn't even looking her way, so it seemed like it wasn't intentionally. I think a warning of some sort would have been appropriate. Not being defaulted from the tournament.

Lol, when it comes to the US Open I always have a bad feeling where Djokovic is concerned but in a strange way I'm kind of over it already. Until a few weeks ago I wasn't even expecting the tournament to be played so the fact that he won't win it this year isn't as big a deal as it would be in normal times. I'm just really disappointed his great win streak has to end in such an irregular manner but as I keep saying, he only has himself to blame and it'll hopefully make him think twice about doing such a stupid thing when he gets frustrated like that in future.

Don't see how it could have hurt that bad.
Unless she got hit in some exact sensitive spot on the throat.
It is a tennis ball not a cricket ball. Even if it hit her in the throat by some miracle it would not have caused her to choke let alone roll around the floor.

She would do well in hollywood definitely.
Well in all fairness, she got hit in the throat which is very sensitive and weak area. That's why in self defense training , if bigger powerful guy attacks you ,, you hit them in the throat as hard as you can and run away and call the police. Even the big powerful guy will be stunned if hit right in the throat area.

so with Djokovic 100 mph groundie Forehand at your throat,,, could be alot of damage....

To be fair he was not really stupid. Plenty of players hit the ball like that to ball boys, it was an unfortunate accident. Right decision but i do not see it being a major issue it was just an accident.

I’ve always felt this rule was too harsh. I’m disappointed, but I guess it’s a good opportunity for Novak to learn how to control his temper. This sucks and I don’t know what else to say. I still can’t believe it happened.

I had a bad feeling about them using linesmen just for the stadium courts when the Hawkeye system seemed to be working great during Cincinnati.

But the bad feeling was about bad calls foooking up a big match. Not this.

Yes, honestly just really unlucky.

Two points before he hit the ball really hard to the sides and ESPN was just saying Novak has to be careful here.

Update: the lineswoman's twitter account shows her communicating with Kyrios. Nick is about to troll Djokovic soon. Stay tuned.
~ JK about the lineswoman but you can bet Nick will be trolling.

I really don't think anyone is interested in anything that clown has to say. He didn't play the tournament and never even got to a USO 4th round to get DQ'd..lol

Kyrgios will of course do his thing on Twitter again after his second TTW account also got banned for trolling.

Djokovic winning this tournament. I don't know why but I did even before the tournament began. The rules had to be followed so whether he intended it or not, there was no other call to be made. Discuss or Disgust?
He had to go unfortunately. Worst thing about it will be Kyrgios having an orgasm over this.

I’m not surprised at all that he did not win this.
I always thought something like injury would derail him or the weirdness of not playing with fans was going to cause him to lack intensity.

Yea he had to go. Kyrgios is a loser really, and he probably will be happy until he realizes he will never achieve anything of importance on a tennis court.

it doesn’t change his winning streak. DQ is only a loss in the sense it goes to the opponent. He still hasn’t lost a tennis match.

The tennis is good, that's all that matters. I'm enjoying the matches.

This could have happened any day of the week to a guy that creates this sort of risk in almost all his matches. I'd rather he screams at a nonexistent crowd than hurting another person.

Yeah, definitely had a feeling of new slam winner written all over it despite novak being the favorite. No one to blame but himself here though.

He's already a star to many tennis fans and doesn't need to achieve greatness on the court. No slam trophies, no worries. The guy could host a show and get tens of millions of viewers and potentially make far money post tennis. Branding is the end game. Social media make unknowns famously rich. He is well known so...

You clearly way overestimate Kyrgios' following. 10's of millions of viewers? LOL

The Carreno Busta shot that saved set point in the first set was in by two millimeters. Had it been out Djokovic would have won the first set and the default drama may not have occurred

That ball was not gong anywhere near 100MPH, more like 5 or 10 at most.

Kudos for taking this so well.:p After that terrible fall and injury Nole was going down. Credit to him supporting the players and tour as much as he did during this tough year.

I've felt for a year or two that this exact thing was going to happen. He has developed this habit of hitting the ball too hard in frustration and everytime he does it my belly breaks down. He did it a few points before the final point and I shook my head thinking one day he will hit someone. And lo and behold, he did. SMFH.

very true. PCB won 5 straight points on his serve and the first two on Nole. 7 straight points. Novak was upset when he lost his serve and hit a medium pace ball (not looking) that strangely hits the throat of the lineswoman. What are odds of that happening? It's like hitting a hole in one with no pace or a ball your dog could catch in the air. Sure, she could say it was unintentional but she could not speak and had to be helped off.

He had a fight with a English jorno over similar to this in 2016 at the YEC as well.

I 100% agree with this. Good post. He’s human and he’s made a mistake. Hopefully novak learns from it in future. It’s unfortunate but rules and rules. I’m pleased for the other guys as one of them have a real shot at making history now. Its wide open now.

I thought the same thing. It’s crazy how that one moment changed everything. Had it not happened, Djokovic might have romped it in 3 sets without all the dramas.

However, this just shows Novak needs to handle his frustration better at times when he doesn’t break or get broken. I mean he may have lost the first set but no need to risk what just happened with him hitting the ball out of anger.

It really was crazy how the whole match and tournament just slipped away from Djokovic from after that correct appeal from the Spaniard.

The question isn't whether he aimed at her intentionally. The question is whether he intended a reckless act.
