Pro's Pro Strings!?

Hi
I’m 45 yrs old player ex 5.0 in Europe
I’m using head velocity main and luxilon element crosses. I love the feel / spin / confort for my arm but it snap in 2/3 hours max.
I’m about to buy a stringing machine and would like to buy 2 similar reel from pro’s pro.

1) A multi with a lot of control / low powered like velocity
2) A copoly soft and spin friendly like element

What should I order from Pros pro ? Durability is not an issue.
Most important = control - confort - spin -
Thanks a lot

I use PP's Superior Gut. It will play low-powered if you string the tension high enough, start at 60# and move up as needed.

For co-poly, all PPs are soft. Go with Red Devil or Black Force if you prefer round/smooth and Blackout if you prefer shaped.

Blackout is barely shaped. It's basically smooth and not particularly edged, but it is quite comfortable and very spin friendly. I didn't find it to be super sensitive / responsive at 50lbs.

This week I have decided to cut out my usual go-to Angell Halo 3 (@52/50) on my Head +EMP.
I have a new reel of Torpedo in the boxes for ages and decided to give it a go again. So I strung up the +EMP with Torpedo fullbed at 52/50 on Thursday night... had a session on Friday afternoon.... too soft and too powerful. The mains move like crazy within the first 5 mins - did not enjoy it v much.
so I cut it out after about an hour session and strung it at 56/54 on Friday night - had a club training/practice session this arvo... what a night and day. It is now much more playable and provides good spin with its “weird” shape.... lol
It was very comfortable and not much string movement.. yet, after 2-hour session.
I think I will stick with it for now and see how it fares with more hours - this is the only PP multi I like, didn’t like others I have tried so far.
I have another +EMP coming soon, so I will try a 4lb difference in the crosses and see how that plays. Don’t mind abit more pocketing!

Torpedo being 1.10-1.45mm rectangular shape multi, it is weird shape.
I would try if it comes in 1.15-1.20mm round.
I tried other PP multis, I was not impressed at all.

Ok thank you ! So Superior Gut or Gutex are a good multis , and Blackout / Red Devil as poly.
Is Pro's Pro a good brand to play at a competitive level ? or only recreational ? (i'm a senior player, training hard to reach my older level -rating -5.0 )
(I can string 2 or 3 times / week, not an issue)

I would say they are basic multi. Others may chime in with different view/experience. It is what you pay for.

I use BF\RD as cross. I really like them given their price point.

Try them in rec\practice match first. I would say tension maintenance will be an issue with these PP strings.
TWU doesn't have test data on them AFAIK, so I can't say which PP poly would hold tension best.
BO/BF/RD are soft polys.

For what it's worth, I've played with Blackout in a VCPHD for about 5 hours so far and it's performed relatively constantly. Not notched yet, but I'm also not a hard hitter.

I would expect fresh Blackout to be perfectly fine for match play.

How does Kirschbaum SG compare to other SG say Prince SG w/ duraflex or Babolat SG or Forten Sweet?

I can compare it to

Pros Pro SG - Kirschbaum is just plain better in all areas (crispier, not so mushy, tension wise, etc)
Tecnifibre SG - Kirschbaum is just plain better in all areas (crispier, not so mushy, tension wise, etc)
Babolat SG Spiraltek - comparable but more expensive
Gosen OGSM - feels more boardy, Kirschbaum is more buttery (not mushy though)

Anyone here in the US try ordering PP strings from international sellers on ****? How are the customs and import fees?

Or is BigT the best way to go?

I ordered of fleebay once from Latvia. Took a long time for the string to arrive but it was inexpensive and what I paid up front was all I paid.

I ordered another item from the bay site. It was supposed to come in 6 weeks.
It was coming from the China. After 3 months, I got full refund.
The item came after 6 months!

By then you had forgotten about it and ordered something else so when it arrived you got a nice surprise. Happens all the time to items coming to SA from almost anywhere but especially china

They are good in return policy related issues as well.
I only wish they have free delivery on $35 not $89.
I just order everything through Big T now. Quick delivery, still good pricing, and I get to support "the little guy". They are very good with communication as well.

Yeah, my two Pro's Pro reels were too cheap to be free shipping eligible. I later decided to try two other strings, though. I would've ordered everything from BigT if only I'd made up my mind sooner. Haha.

Has anyone tried Pro's Pro Synthetic Gut and Gosen OGSM for crosses? How do they compare against each other? I plan to cross one of them with Hyper-G or Cyclone on mains.

Either that hybrid setup or a full bed of PP Black Out.

Just ordered.
They said 26 to 46 days for Canada! ( i didn’t expect that )
3 reels ( blackout 1.24 / Concept 1.22 / syn gut 1.30 )
I’m really curious. I use velocity and Element ( probably the best multi and the best soft poly imo ), and I’ll tell you if the first 3 hours worths the try, or... not !

Is it cheaper all things considered? How long do they take to deliver to the US?
No idea. I am in the UK so I have a few UK based and EU options.
sometimes depends what I buy/how many I buy, it can work out to be cheaper if I buy from PP direct, including the shipping from EU to the UK.

They have about 250 Countries (or odd locations) on their list from Afganistan to Venezuela, but I did not find Canada or US on the list so they might have a distributor there.

Some options are present but they'll then say no service to that location.

Gosen OGSM will be far superior. Pro's Pro isn't known for quality, whereas OGSM is a solid string (my personal favorite SG cross).
PP Blackout isn't a bad poly, it's honestly pretty decent spin. Nowhere near as much as fullbed Hyper-G though. I get about 4 hours of solid play out of Blackout before it starts trampolining.

I expect you'll get 6-8 hours out of Hyper-G / OGSM before the syngut shreds and starts locking out.

I had bad experience with OGSM 18G natural - cross or main. It is very sticky.

for me the Pro's Pro Syn gut isn't good as cross.. it's not that slippery.. on the other hand OGSM is much better as a cross... I like using Blackout 16G with OGSM Natural 17.. it's good for about 3-4 hours then the mains bag out..

Similar to my experience, even when crossed with poly, the PP Synthetic Gut does not slide back to place and often notches too fast and locks up the string bed.

What is the Best multi or syn gut ( cheap) on the mains, to use with blackout crosses ?

I have only tried PP Claycourt Plus (multi) in the mains and Red Devil cross at 54/52lbs and its really plush up to max an hour then I break the mains..... happened to me several times I tried this combo so durability really sucks at least for Claycourt Plus.

Thanks for sharing this.
I would like to find a multi or syn gut ( mains) with at least a 4/5 hours of durability.

Played yesterday for the first time with Black Out 1.24, i strung it at 44 lbs due to my elbow, and wow, the string is really soft. No arm pain.
If you play with topspin like me, you should try this string. You feel like Casper Ruud at some moment, no joke

Good control, good feel. At $40 cad the reel, it’s just unreal.

Gonna try at 48lbs. Should be the perfect tension because it’s a low-medium powered string.
It was a bit trampoline effect at this tension yesterday (44), but at 48/50 lbs, I already know it will be great.

Not easy to string ( crosses )
Other than that, would like to reorder another reel.
