I had the absolute pleasure of meeting up with the one and only @Geoff in Atlanta this past weekend. Not only is he a wonderful guy but his tennis is equally wonderful. We hit a couple of times over the course of two days and I think in the entire time he missed maybe 2 shots . I'm envious of his beautiful stroke production and consistent and solid ball striking. We tried to record a video of us hitting but it didn't turn out well due to some strong sun and shadows - but I'll try to at least find a few seconds of it to post on here.
I was visiting Atlanta so didn't have my racquet with me, however Geoff lent me one of his customized RF97's - customized to Roger's specs including lead tape under the bumper, string savers at the correct positions and power-pads. Solid playing stick. I've been playing with the stock RF97 and recently the Blade 98 so it was fairly easy for me to transition to the customized RF97, however the extra bit of weight at the top of the hoop did take a little time to get used to.
Geoff's textbook perfect strokes and timing make the RF97 a perfect frame for him .... plus I get the feeling he likes that Roger Federer guy
Just for the record we didn't play any points - just rallied. Had we played Geoff would have kicked my butt..... so the showdown in Atlanta would have been a beatdown in Atlanta.
If you guys want a photo of a couple of aging tennis nuts ... taken in Geoff's spectacular stringing room (he's got all the gadgets and more!) here you go:
Again Geoff - thank you for the hits and making my visit to Atlanta fun!
