Depends on who he draws. If he gets someone like Karlovic then it's a possibility, if he gets..say, Donald Young, then he may as well get a bye. But chances are more likely that he'll get out of the first round and at least the round of 15.

Except for last year, Roddick has been really consistent at the US Open. He almost always makes it to the quarters. It's possible he could get bounced, but his game is so suited to the surface that it's highly unlikely.

I do wish they could seed him higher based on hard court performance this summer and last (minus the obvious dismissal at the US Open). Dude's won the US Open series two years in a row and may be seeded as low as #9 or #10.

i think he could go get semis or better. really if he focuses and plays like he did this week, minus the 1st round match, he can beat almost any1

Roddick is still looking for blood. He's going to go out there crushing the ball. He has a lot to prove in New York and now he has Jimmy Connors on his side believing in him. Like he said, he has as good a chance as anyone not named Roger to win the US Open. As good a chance as Nadal, I'd say.

Like others are sayin', its highly unlikely. It would be unfortunate, too. He is good for the spectators, he gives away his sticks, he highfives the people, all the good stuff.

"still looking for blood"......

Really this says it all.....a mediocre year (to say the least) and now winning a tournament; who can predict?

hes gonna make his big push here. anyone else notice his focus during cincy. hes finnally pissed about the loses and gonna get back to at least top 5. he was aggresive not playing from 10 feet back. i thought i saw some winners of the backhand to. it would be great to see him go out and beat nadal or federer just to shut everyone up.

He wont lose in the 1st round. If he avoids Nadal or Federer he will make the semis.
I really don't think Nadal is as much of a threat to Roddick as Murray, Bagdhatis, Nalbandian and those types are. If those guys are on their game, they can keep Andy from getting so many free points off his serve.

Nadal reached the Wimbledon final on his worst surface by far. I am not going to undermine his chances on a fast hard court just yet.

Is the grass of wimbledon, in its current form, his worst surface? He's done pretty terribly on the Cincy and US Open surfaces, so I don't expect him to go very deep this year.

But you're right: he's a great player who can adapt his game to non-clay surfaces.

Even so, Roddick has the kind of game that can bother Nadal since he strikes so early in the rally. So I see these other guys and Fed being more of a problem for him on this surface.

Actually maybe you are right that fast hard courts are now Nadal's worst surface since they slowed the grass so excessively much.

Roddick can strike early in points the way Blake and Berdych do vs Nadal, and he serves much better then especialy Blake. Nadal was far from the player he is today in late 2004, but he still was creamed by Roddick at the U.S Open that year, and Roddick even took Nadal to a very tight 4-setter on clay at th end of that year, so maybe those are good signs for Roddick in a Nadal matchup.

Roddick will get far as long as he doesn't go up against Johannson. Anyone else, the way he is playing right now, he will beat. Including Federer and Nadal. With home crowd and the fact that he is playing so well at the net now, I like his chances.

An American will win the Open this year. Which is the way it should be :D

Nadal hates big servers, especially if they finish points at net. That's what Roddick will have to do to beat Nadal.

hell no, I believe he will be a finalist if hes on Feds opposite half or winner if Fed gets knocked out. I pretty much believe now he can beat anyone on tour not named Roger.

I don't think A-Rod should be concerned with Nadal at all if they play at the USO this year. Nadal hasn't proven himself against a big server yet, and the fast conditions favor Roddick. The two times they played Roddick crushed Nadal in straights and A-Rod still managed to take a set off of Nadal on clay, which is Nadals best and Roddicks worse surface.

Federer is my favorite player, but I would love to see Roddick retake his former place as Fed's biggest rival instead of Nadal. Also seeing Nadal have his way with Federer so often, might make Roger seem a little less imposing to Roddick in the second goaround of the rivalry.

A Roddick-Federer rivalry is much more exciting to watch than a Nadal-Federer rivalry. In the first, both guys have game and a big serve. In the latter, one can play and the other just grinds it out.

Nadal brings Federer down to his level and they battle for the wins from there, the same way Gilbert used to do to his opponents. Roddick can actually challenge Federer with his weapons, and bring out more intense critical play from him.

I hope he draws Safin if that is possible. However, he will likely be playing some guy with skinny legs, weak volleys, poor movement, and likes to play from way behind the baseline.

I voted no,I think if he keeps his focus as he has been lately he will make it atleast to the quarter's depending on his draw.Maybe we could end up with a Fed vs Roddick quarter or semi's,possibly Final. If Roddick plays like he has been I think it could be like a sequal to the 04 Wimbledon final!

He won't go out in the first round. He will go out as soon as he faces a top 10player. I am not convinced he can beat anyone currently in the top 10. I believe his record against top 10 players is pretty dismal.

I think he can go along way. So glad to see him get so aggressive with his shots. Andy's game goes as his serve goes, so I hope he is serving well.

roddick is like safin but hes more consistent. Roddick was playing great tennis last year going into the us open but he got outplayed by mullers serve. i think it could happen again with likes of henman or even safin could face him. he will lose in the early rounds i think
