Ever since he whined about Ruud at the FO where he got a trashing, RuneGOAT has been losing.

Maybe it's the grass... Or maybe not. He lost both his post-Wimbledon clay matches, so this streak might be the real deal.

Can he hope to overtake Thiem?

Can he match Paire?

In short, can he make a mark on the ATP tour, and at such a young age?

Karma! You should never speak to your mother like that.
I don't know her and can only say that some tennis moms are absolutely obnoxious, so I won't judge on that. In our youth at our local club we said much harder things anyway, and nobody really cared, not even the parents themselves. They rather laughed it off.

However, he said that he could easily imagine to beat Nadal's RG record, and THAT deserves some punishment. :p

Give the guy a break. He just turned 19, he is the 2nd best player (under 20) after Alcaraz.

Doesn't matter if he has a losing streek. He already won a title this year (beating the world number #2 6-3 6-2) and reached his first GS Quarterfinal (beating 2 top-15). It was obvious was gonna struggle a bit after this. I'm not too worried about him, he'll be around for a very long time.
How many players have won a title and made a Slam QF before 20?

Speaking of Ruud, he has looked absolutely awfull too since that match. He lost 4 of his last 5 matches (Nadal, Penniston, Humbert, Cerundolo)
Except he is 4 years older than Rune. I would be much more concerned about him.

He didn't win a title.

Zandschulp had a panic attack and handed it over to him despite being a break up in the 1st set.

So I guess Nadal didn't win RG this year then. Zverev exploded his ankle and let him grap the trophy. And Nadal didn't reach the final in Wimbledon 2007 either, Djokovic won the 1st set and then had a panic attack and couldn't breathe.

Didn't Rafa have to beat your sweetie in order to even get to that semifinal at RG? At least Rafa beat 4 top 10 players to win RG, whereas your Serbian Honey didn't beat a single top 10 player to win the exhibition known as Wimby.

People here have trashed Carlos for saying in May, "I am ready to win a slam." And he probably will win multiple majors in the future but many thought he made an arrogant statement.

But Rune making the asinine remark that he will win more RG's than Rafa is up there with the most delusional statement ever made by a tennis pro. His exact quote back in February was:

"Rafael Nadal is really inspiring and so bold a character. I work every day to be able to be as good as him. I'm not at his level yet. There's still some way to go, but I believe I can beat his record at the French Open."

What planet is this guy on? Nobody is beating Rafa's record there.

Ever.

Yeah one of the dumbest statements ever by a player. It would be silly even if he had 5 RG titles already. Let's see if he even wins one.

Wow. He actually said that?! Anyway, nvm all that, Nadal is a moving target at RG. He's not done winning titles there yet. Wouldn't shock if he won another 3 or 4 tbh.

I’ve said before I think he can contend until around 2028 or 2029. Don’t think more than 3/4 more is likely - he won’t keep winning every year. Do you think he could keep contending even into the 2030s?

Did people trash him for that? I thought that was for the claims by some that he's as good as 2005 Nadal, or that he would go on to achieve more than Nadal, Djokovic and Federer?

Well yeah. He's basically almost out of time to win his first French Open to keep any sort of pace, as Rafa did that at age 19. Rafa won his 9th French Open at age 28.

He's just getting his losses out of the way first so that he can win 16 RGs in a row
