Richard what the hell was that?? he was leading 1 set to 0 and dominating Clement with his beautiful backhand strokes so I went taking a snack with the confidence that Richard would break Clement in the beginning of the second set. Surprise,surprise I turn on my PC to watch the rest of the match and what do I see 3-6 4-6 3-0 in Clement's advantage. What the hell is wrong with him I thought that the Davis Cup win over Haas would give him more confidence. Please Gasquet don't turn into the next Safin.
He is still young so he has some time to change his on-court mentality but he better be fast cause Bagdathis and the rest of the young guns have also great potential to become Grans Slam winners.

No problem mate I will explain to you why I posted it here: The match result forum is strictly for the board members to post the result of the most recent and current but I wanted to discuss Richards lack of mental strength and where better to do that than on the General pro player discussion forum. You can't call someone a head case without the proof that he has really been playing bad and how do you show that? thats right by showing his latest results. That may be why why it seems to me that it would fit more in that section. I'm not in MENSA though, so what do I know.

No actualy the match was already over when I posted it (look at the time of my first post and you will see it) If the match wasn't over why would I call him a head case? He could have mad it 3-3. But if it makes you people happy I wont't post anymore result even when using the *spoiler* altough I will never understand some of the board members obsession of not wanting to know the match results even if the match was played 3 days ago :roll: but I don't want to start a feud so I rest my case.

Gasquet is not legendary player. He's 21 in 2006. How many semis/finals has he reached? Legends have at least 10 titles by age 20.

Ok, I don't usually jump in to these discussions but I'm gonna have to agree with tenalyser on this one. He put spoiler as plain as day on the title without giving it away. I mean it can't be any easier than that. When I see spoiler it means with big flashing lights don't go in until I've watch all the matches.

That makes the 2 of us...debating about a player being a headcase is considered "general pro player discussion", or? So what should he had done...put it in Match results just because it mentioned a result? It said 4 times spoiler for Christ's sake.

I just don't see the point of these stupid "match results" debates...if you're planning to post about some tourney in progress, about some results go to the "Match results" section, if you want to talk about something considering a player in general but have to mention his latest result (cause it's meaningful for the discussion topic itself) post here but write spoiler.Which is exactly what tenalyser did. No problem there, IMO.

I don't think match result forum is just for mindless score reporting. It's for the discussions on (and based on) (players performance in) current matches and tournaments. Op's post was his reaction on the current match (which was in progress) and he was talking about his disappointment on Gasquet's performance in the match (which I share) by citing the score.
It's perfectly fit for match result forum. No one would have wondered why he posted there if he had done that. I think other posters reactions were based on this.

No, the argentinans are aslo chokers at least the current crop of tennis players, maybe excluding gaudio, but nalbandian and coria certainly are.

And with the Spanish and French: Grosjean, Gasquet, Paul Henry Mathieu (probably the biggest choker on tour), Corretja, Moya, Ferrero is just mentally weak could never back up his 2003 season etc. In other sports you had the French football team who was known for its underachieving in world cup's till 1998 when they finally won at home, Spain has the same reputation, never even been past the QF's having soemtimes, title contending teams, look at basketball , Gasol and Parker are known for disappearing in the fourth quarter etc. the list goes on.
I just did not come up with this today, its soemthing ive observed for many years, and it has nothing to do with chromosomes, it has to do more with how they are trained in the "mental" game, you can actually develop that part of youre game, not everyone is born an automatic fierce competitor who doe snot choke under pressure, you can actually build youre mental make up. The spaniards and french seem to be lacking behind in that department not the players per se but it must be the way they are brought up in the tennis world and probably just in society.

Why not put spoiler spoiler Gasquet could be a headcase spoiler spoiler. That way everyone knows it's about Gasquet and the result is still unknown, and you can then discuss his headcaseness in full and unfettered fashion to your hearts desire. He could have been a head case for hitting on the service lineswoman for all we know, but at least we've an idea what the thread is about. Not a difficult concept surely?

He is only 19 now. Two weeks younger than Nadal. Federer won his 1st slam at 21. So if Gasquet wins something by the end of 2008 he will be in the same category as Federer.

I don't have a problem with it being in this section, but you have to give some clue (i.e. "Gasquet vs. Clement, Is someone a head case???") as to what you're spoiling. That's the whole purpose of spoilers. That way people that have seen the match can read what you have to say about a specific match/player and know that they're not going to be spoiled for a different match they may not have seen.
