Well, just to be fair, barring any injuries, 5 more slams is indeed likely for Djoker to achieve. He has a chance to catch Fed.

Srjdan always believed that his son will end up as a most accomplished tennis player ever. Even back in the days when his son was practicing in an empty swimming pool, while bombs were flying over his head. This interview is just an example of father believing immensely in his son, while being very honest about those feelings. It's a beautiful human story and great example for all fathers out there...

Novak has distanced himself from his father in the last few years. I don't think he should be blamed for any of those comments Srdjan made anyway.

I don't blame Djok at all, rather the opposite - I remember well that a couple of years ago he actually sort-of BANNED his parents from attending his matches. The guy is smart, indeed.
Still, it wouldn't hurt for him to try and get the rabbit back in the hat again.

I think he could get 8-11 more. There seems to be a lull right now. The next generation hasn't been able to win a slam or challange for one.

If the court surfaces don't get sped up and he avoids any major injuries, I predict:

He'll get 3-4 in 2016.
2-3 in 2017
then probably 1-2 for a few more years.

He sort of kicked them out permanently, I think in 2012. Tomic tried to do that with his father/coach during a match though he was asking for the umpire to intervene.
I am sure Djokovic will react to this, but I bet Srdjan could drop another bomb before the intervention. :D

Ah, nice to know. I might pay him a visit next time I visit Belgrade (or wherever it is). No worries, I'll just visit for the food and drinks. :D

Yeah... it must be pretty annoying for these players to know their family members can be such a nuisance. I'm sure Novak will know how to deal with it though.

To be fair to Novak, I'd be completely embarrassed to hear my dad say stuff like that about me. I think he's doing a fine job keeping it together because a parent like that makes it very difficult to be down to earth, but also makes it tough to deal with expectations. I also wonder how Novak's brothers are being treated. Some parents appear to be nice and actually supportive in a healthy way, like Federer's and Nadal's parents. I won't say Srdjan is on the level of Tomic's father or anything, and being proud of your child is good, but this is not light stuff to say, especially in public. I could imagine it's very tough for Novak too when you're being taught you are "sent from god to fulfill his wishes". Sport dads can be absolutely horrible when they start to see their child as a vessel for their own projects and dreams.

Then again, I don't know them personally so maybe in their personal lives they're completely different, but still.

Very well sad, with a slight addition: mums can be equally horrible... ;)

Of course it's perfectly fine to think your kid is the 'best', the 'prettiest', the most wonderful in the world, etc.
Regarding the tons of pictures of godawful ugly kids being posted on FB by their parents daily, I guess that's how it works.

It's a complete different matter though, to broadcast it through the media as being the dad of an indeed very good sportsman, if only for the pressure it puts on said sportsman.

That they can. Here in Canada we call them "hockey moms." Ice hockey being the most popular sport here and a contact one at that, it usually brings out the worst in them when their kid(s) are playing.

Being overly enthusiastic to the point of craziness can ruin a good thing.

i agree with you, but i think poster and you can come to an agreement here. It displays disbelief indeed, but in a ridiculed fashion. Which in itself is amusing to see, hence why he posted it imo.
