Sock and Tomic gone next, possibly Thiem too

I think all three have winnable third-round matches. Of course, they're all within the 60/40 or 40/60 range, but I'd be surprised if all three lost.

I don't see Zverev beating Nadal, so I think all of the last 16 will be 23 or more. This is also Zverev's last Slam as a teenager, and I think he's much better than anyone else who's still a teen, so unless he surprises me, I doubt we'll see a teen make a deep run in a Slam in 2017. Perhaps Taylor Fritz can surprise me, and I guess Francis Tiafoe will well improve in 2017, but I think both are considerably behind Zverev. Coric and Chung are no longer teenagers, and are also way behind Zverev right now.

N.B. Actually, I'd say Thiem has more than a 60% chance of beating Paire.

Of course, ATP is record old. It's the oldest ever and keeps getting older now.

even more odd is a lot of them are peaking with career high rankings !

The last 24 are:

No happy 33rd birthday for Malek Jaziri, who lost to Zverev senior.

The last 12 are:

23: Thiem
25: Dimitrov
26: Raonic, Goffin
28: Bautista Agut
29: M. Zverev
30: Monfils, Nadal, Istomin
31: Wawrinka, Tsonga
35: Federer

As has been the case for the past several days, 50% of the field is 30+ and 50% of it is 29-. (Assuming that Dimitrov beats Istomin, that will be the case again today, so four of the quarter-finalists will be 30-something and four will be 20-something. If Istomin pulls off another upset, then it will be five 30-somethings and three 20-somethings, but I don't see that happening. There's quite a good chance that we'll have three 30-something semi-finalists, though: Federer, Nadal, and Wawrinka/Tsonga. If Istomin really continues his surprising ways, we could even have four 30-something semi-finalists. As Wawrinka and Tsonga play each other in the quarters, we're guaranteed one 30-something semi-finalist).

Still four contenders to be the first Slam champion born in the 1990s. As all of them are in the bottom half, that makes it quite likely that one of them will become the second Slam finalist born in the 1990s (of course, if it were Raonic, he'd be the only Slam finalist born in the 1990s but have done that twice).

The last 12 women are:
