Thanks. Will need to try VCT 1.30. I actually have a few sets that I haven’t used because my experience with 1.25 was so awful. Assumed 1.30 was just more of the same. Lol.

VCT 1.30 isn't for everyone and if you like stiffer polys like Hyoer G, 4G, you probably won't like VCT 1.30, but it is great for those who like softer polys.

I don’t use hyper g. Guys I string like it though so I carry it. I only use 4g as a cross at low tension because is holds tension well. I like regular cyclone, solstice pro, solinco outlast, prince tour xp as well as others. Will give the 1.30 vct a try.

tour bite crossed with a softer round poly like rs lyon works really well.

Has TW mentioned when they will ship the racquets out to playtesters? I know it was supposed to be early this week as per email we got but just making sure. Hoping I have mine by this weekend!

OK thnx, a bit weird as I usually get a notification from UPS in email but didn't get one this time. Lucky west coasters always get theirs so quick :)

Maybe. What frame and string setup do you play with? :)

I’m in Diamond Bar.

Sweet. Wow you are close to ONT and I get there also.. a great way to spend 17 hours is to find someone to hit with while on the road. I can bring a frame. Use a PA+

I own many frames in my collection but that’s one that I don’t have.

oh yeah, ONT is close to me. Definitely looking forward to meeting you in person.

We sent out all racquets on Monday evening. If you are on west coast you will most likely get it by tomorrow. If you are in the middle of the country, typically Thursday or Friday and if you are on the east coast you will get it next Monday. For some reason, some times you don't get a shipping notification. If you would like tracking, you can send an email to discussadmin@tennis-warehouse.com.

Thanks,
Brittany, TW

Received my stick today, feels pretty nice so far. Not sure which string I'll put in it just yet but I'll probably just go with the given RPM Power since I playtested that string and enjoyed it. I should be able to take it out for a hit soon as well so hopefully I'll have some feedback soon

Maybe put a string that you are currently playing.

Was my plan exactly. Only starting last night, Lady Luck had other ideas.

I have a Pure Drive VS from a previous TW racquet playtest. It had been modified for my son, with an XTP buttcap, built up grip, and added lead to bring it to about 365 grams static weight strung with 1.25 cyclone. I confiscated it because he's still using his Pure Drive Tours, put the original buttcap back on, took off all the lead tape, put the original grip back on, and started to string with my go-to Silver 7 Tour.

I get to this point:

uc

And my wife yells that the water heater is leaking! I have to leave it while I mop up. It looks like a pressure relief valve, hope it's not worse. I rig up a system to catch any further leaks. I look at water heaters. Four figures to get a decent one.

I come back, pull two cross strings, and the Silver 7 Tour snaps when pulling tension.

:(

I think about trying to turn it into a two piece, but figure that the pattern weirdness may make it play differently. I decide to cut it out before I change my mind. I look at my nearly empty reel of S7T and see how much is left. I'm about eight inches short for what I need for a one piece.

Ahhh, but there's enough to do the mains, and I have a section from a previous reel to do the crosses. Strung it up two piece.

:)

Okay. Maybe the day is saved. This morning, I get a notification that my delivery is delayed until tomorrow.

Anyhow, all finished, the Pure Drive VS is 308 grams, 6 points headlight. A v3 Pure Strike 100 I have is 316 grams, two points HL. I also still have the Roland Garros edition Clash 100 which is 314 grams and five points HL. I could possibly get a v3 Ultra 100 if anyone is interested in a comparison with that racquet. Both Wilsons are strung with Alu Power 1.25 and not Silver 7 Tour.

What are your thoughts on the XTP Buttcap?

If you can swing it, these are great. Replaced two tanked hot water heaters with one tankless two years ago. Should have done it sooner but it took the fifth plumber to assure me it would be easy and only require one unit. The other four plumbers were scratching their heads trying to figure it out. It was done in about 6 hours no sheetrock was cut and it works great.

What are your thoughts on the XTP Buttcap?

The XTP buttcap does exactly what it is supposed to do. The extra half inch extension is solid and not wobbly, and the shape fit the Babolat handle pallet very snugly. The bad is that the buttcap has a pretty long and thick sleeve that I guess is necessary to securely grab a hold of the pallet so it doesn't wobble. This creates a step down in size from the buttcap to the pallet that is very noticeable because it's right in the middle of the palm area. I tried to increase the size of the remainder of the pallet with a full thickness heat shrink wrap and even that still isn't quite enough to match the thickness of the sleeve. It looks like it would take an additional half-thickness heat shrink wrap on top of full thickness heat shrink wrap to match it up with the buttcap's sleeve thickness. The buttcap and two heat shrink wraps would add at least 25-30 grams of weight and increase the grip size by one and a half.

From what I can tell, our water heater model used a pressure relief valve that degraded over 5-7 years. Ours is eight years old and a replacement valve is only $20. For that, I'm going to try it and see if it solves the problem. There haven't been any other signs of problems with the water heater itself. It works well and provides a very stable temperature hot water source. We're also hoping to move in the next few years so we're leaving the maintenance to the next owner! But I do want to go tankless in our next house. You've had a good experience with yours, I take it?

Got the racket strung with Kirschbaum Pro Line Evolution 51 lbs and was able to take it for a hit last night. So far, so good. It's definitely a very light racket which makes it quite easy to swing but feels pretty stable as well. As long as I made clean contact I was able to get a nice deep ball without swinging too hard. I didn't get to any actual point play so didn't get to try it on serve but liking it a lot so far.

I will keep hitting with it in stock form for now but will eventually throw some lead on and will try to post a hitting video.

Cool!
How it compares to APD? I am very exciting to try it out.
Keep posting!

Mine is coming tomorrow! I should be able to get on court with it tomorrow or saturday. I think I'll string it with black code as opposed to PTP. I think the black code will play more similar to hyper G without actually being hyper g

to give everyone an idea of the kind ball @samprasbackhand was facing, he was hitting with @MaxTennis last night. MaxTennis is a 5.0 player who hits a heavy penetrating ball so it's very impressive that a racquet as light as the PA VS in stock form exhibits this kind of stability. I've had light racquets feel stable against a 3.5 quality ball only to start fluttering and wobbling against a 4.5+ quality ball. also, samprabackhand hits a good quality ball himself - he's not just bunting the ball by blocking back.

Will do.

there’s a line forming by my stringing machine.

pro staff 6.1 95 (for a customer) followed by the following in no particular order:
Clash 98
PA VS
APD 2013
APDO

Would love for you to add the 2020 Ezone 98 standard length to this list. One 305 gram stick to rule them all! I can't believe how rock solid it is for such low static and swing weight.

I received my Pure Aero VS tonight! After taking off the placard and plastic wrap on the grip, it weighed in at 304 grams, one gram lighter than spec. Came with a set of RPM Power and Xcel.

uc

After stringing with 17 gauge Silver 7 Tour at 46 pounds, it was 320 grams and 6 points HL. The Pure Drive VS I have is 308 grams and 6 points HL, and the v3 Pure Strike 100 is 316 grams and 2 points HL. Both of those are also string with 17 gauge Silver 7 Tour at 46 pounds.

uc

Here are all three.
uc

I don't have an RDC but it's apparent that the Pure Drive VS has the lowest swingweight, with the Pure Aero VS in the middle and the Pure Strike having the highest swingweight. Interesting but the Pure Aero VS makes the loudest "whoosh" when swung fast whereas the PDVS and Pure Strike are fairly similar in the noise they make.

I put the Pure Aero VS on top of the Pure Strike VS to compare string patterns. The perspective is offset towards the edges of the photo because the camera is looking straight down, but the mains have roughly the same position within the frames. The crosses on the Pure Aero VS start lower and have about the same gap until the 7th or 8th cross from the top, where they are much denser together than in the Pure Drive VS. That's how they get the one extra cross string in, and that top cross string is also closer to the tip of the frame than in the PDVS.

uc

I also strung up an old Aero Storm tonight and I thought it would be kind of the spiritual predecessor of Pure Aero VS but the head shape and frame profile are pretty different:

uc

Am also in the middle of an extended demo of the Roland Garros Clash 100 so I'll be swinging these four racquets at the same time.

uc

Thanks to Tennis Warehouse and Babolat for the opportunity!

Awesome. Very interesting review coming up I am sure :). I am curious to know how you feel about all three VS lines especially the PDVS compared to PAVS. They look gorgeous btw.

UPS just delivered mine (east coast here). Had to run out for a bit. But if the stars align, I’ll have time to string it up before I play tonight.

Edit: Mine is also 304g after removing the placard and the plastic on the grip. The paint job is really something in person. Will be stringing it up shortly.

On a side note, I'm curious why T Dubs isn't offering RG paint Clash 100? Quick Google search shows they are available at competitor websites. Would never buy from anywhere else because I love TW too much, lol, but just curious. I was initially not wowed by the RG paint but that blue is seriously growing on me after watching a few close ups.
