The Genius of Hsieh

Shieh is becoming one of my favorite WTA players to watch. It’s amazing to watch her just take opponents apart. There is just no one that plays like her. The younger ball-bashers could learn a thing or two from her (especially point construction).
Haven't seen her play. What does she actually do ?
Watching Osaka vs Mugu now

I love watching her too, but what does it accomplish? She's 35 years old, this is her first QF at a major. Radwanska used to do the same sort of thing, and it didn't get her where she wanted to be either.

Entertaining tennis.
Yeah, that's great and all, but after a while it becomes tough to stick with if they just lose all the time. People may have a lot to learn from her, but the opposite is also true. Justine Henin worked loads to improve her strength and her endurance, and she mixed that with her skills, and she became one of the top players of her golden era.

Aga never dominated, but she was able to keep up with the rest with zero power.
I agree that the right physic is important today, and I know that Henin worked very hard to improve her strength but I think she also had more natural power than most girls of her size. Also Schiavone, Mattek-Sands. Not sure Hsieh and Radwanska could ever become that strong physically.

Genius, skillful, versatile, effortless... If Hsieh had power and a stronger mentality, she would have multiple slams.

I hope she plays for many more years, one of my favorite players to watch. My favorite on the WTA for sure.

Fixed your post for you, oh genderless wonder.

Right, otherwise she would be able to come back from a set down and break down in both the second and third set to beat someone as mentally strong as (the no.1)Osaka.

Look, I'm a fan of her game - but there's no way that she only makes a slam QF at age 35 for the first time, solely for the lack of power in her game.

That doesn't mean that she is mentally weak, does it. ;)

You should maybe check her latest interview.

Never realized how sweet, humble and positive her personality was! I like her unorthodox style, but I’m rooting for Naomi:p
