The most dominant HTH records vs a player that won a slam title.

Brian Teacher, “slam title” 1980 A.O.

JMac 8-0. JMac never lost a set to Teacher. JMac also didn’t play 1980 A.O. ;)

To be fair, I think Gerulaitis was a rather higher calibre of opponent than Teacher (he reached the USO final, losing to Mac, the FO final, losing to Borg, and the W semis, losing to Borg; and was ranked in the top 10 for several years). You're right though that he didn't win a "full participation" slam.

Classic case of the young ‘up and coming hungry’ ATG VS the ‘been there done that, accomplished’ older ATG.
I wouldn't say that's the case here, at least not entirely. Mac lead both Edberg and Wilander, yet his H2H record against Boris is pretty much one-sided. He had a tough time dealing with Becker's power back in the day (though peak Mac never played prime/peak Boris).

I doubt any version of Becker would have done much against 1984 JMac.

Djokovic beat peak Big4 to win slams and tons of yec/masters, not Roddick and Hewitt.

:-D:-D

Djokovic didn't beat peak "prime" Fed any time in slams, let alone peak fed.
AO 08 fed was mono fed and after AO 10, fed was not even prime fed.

Murray's best 2 years in slams were in 12-13 and djokovic went 2-2 vs him in that period.

even old fed was beating up Murray in 15 (wim and cincy)

obviously dominated Murray in slams before that as well. 5-1 overall (USO 08, AO 10, Wim 12, AO 14, Wim 15). Murray's only slam win coming in AO 13 in 5 sets after ~31.5 year old fed was exhausted from a 5-setter vs tsonga the round before.

Djokovic did win 3 in a row vs nadal in 11-early 12, but then lost 4 in a row after that.
Meanwhile while Djokovic in his prime years in 14-16 was busy going 1-3 vs Stan in slams, old Fed went 3-1 vs Stan in 14-17 in slams.

---

in his prime, Fed was also beating nadal (06/07 Wim), Djokovic (07/08/09) Djokovic, Agassi (04/05).
Saying he was only beating Roddick and Hewitt is like saying Djokovic was only beating Nishikori, Cilic and Raonic in 14-16. :)

Delpo 2013 Wimbledon match is mirror image match of Tommy Haas Vs fed RG 2009..
Delpo played d match of his life n still lost ,same with Haas ..
In other slam matches Delpo always got destroyed by Djoker .

those 2 aren't even remotely similar.
In Wim 13, delpo went toe to toe vs a well playing Djokovic.

RG 09 vs Haas, fed blew the 1st set TB after not losing a point on serve in the 1st 6 games. FH was not firing until that famous I/O FH down BP in the 3rd set.
When Fed found his top gear after taking set3, he blitzed Haas 0 & 2 in the last 2 sets. (granted Haas played below are in the 4th set).

A somewhat similar match to Wim 13 SF would actually be delpo himself vs Fed in RG 09. Delpo actually played better in this one than in the USO final months later or the Wim SF in 13 vs djoko.

As far as other slam matches b/w Djoko-Delpo go, Djokovic played one of his best USO matches vs Delpo in USO 2012 and last 2 sets were close.
RG 11, delpo took set 2 and was looking threatning. But then it got dark and they closed play for the day.
delpo lost his momentum and lost in 4 sets. Not saying he'd have won, but he could've made it more interesting/tense if not for the momentum break.

18-8 in Grand Slams against two of the greatest players of all time. That is just impressive.
Nadal has to be the greatest big match player in history, except maybe the one and only Laver.

11 of those wins are French!

Not saying Delpo never won important things, but he turned to be a big match loser. He started so well at USO 09 final, then he could never match that.

My point wasn't to compare those two only that it's misleading to use the A.O. during that period to find players that have "won a slam" but were dominated HTH by some other player and not mention that by the way the A.O. was pretty far from "slam prestige" back then. Vitas won Rome that year which was a much bigger title at the time.

I'm familiar with their respective games. I saw them both play many times. 8-B

Ferrer? That would be a crime, to beat Djokovic and cause that much heartache and then just lose to Ferrer.
Should've given it to Novak that year. At least he was generous enough in 2015
He could have given it To Ferrer that year because he won the real final against Djokovic thus morally winning RG and with Ferrer winning RG Spain still wins and the Spanish anthem gets played
