A big win for Arsenal in the battle with Liverpool for 2nd place.

A huge win (also 5-0) for Leicester against Southampton who had previously caught form. Sadly they will get promoted as champions. I would have found it hilarious had they thrown away a top 2 place after previously having held a 17 point lead in top spot, and considering they are playing in the division basically using a cheat code.

Brighton have been awful this season, relatively speaking. Perhaps they can get something out of the City game, although I would not expect it.

Any thoughts on our lot? Are you in the Ten Hag out squad?
Ten Hag has disappointed me a lot recently. Although the players aren't good enough for us to just point fingers at him. For that reason I didn't celebrate when Mourinho was gone or when Ole was gone. Rangnick (who properly said open heart surgery is required) not sticking around in the background as previously intended was another bummer. At this point I feel like I will be apathetic towards any of the next few decisions we make. The trust is shattered.
Not at all, they were born for this.

That one may prove more difficult, of course…
Not confident in maintaining that famous track record against City at your new stadium? :p

Some good points here and I can understand the trust being shattered. Well past the fool me twice stage, it's more like fool me 1000 times. Even with that, I do allow myself to hope. Shame on me. :p

We’ve played our role perfectly.

Softened them up nicely. They were celebrating at the end like they’d won the league, patting themselves on the back. The complacency was palpable.

The humbling has been set up.

Now we wait for them to come up against a competent team and enjoy the sacrifice we made tonight :giggle:

… unfortunately, Spurs aren’t a competent side so… Bournemouth, I guess? They’ve got Man Utd after, then Everton.

Oh dear

But I would fully expect Arsenal to give us a good hiding as well. Inevitable, Mr. Anderson.

Hell, I'm at the point of thinking Sheffield United and Burnley will give us a good hiding. Especially Burnley because they do have something to play for.

Speaking of weird scenarios. Simon Jordan was defending ETH today. :censored: Damn, did he bang his proverbial on the door on the way to the studio?

He couldn't hold back, though. Not like he's now an ETH diehard, I mean, the whole media are out to get him out, but he did say we are the gift that keeps on giving. lol

Quick FPL update. The Free Hit is in full effect.

92 points so far, with 8 players still to go.. including captain Salah.

Currently up to 160k in the world.

Mission 140k and top 1% in the world is going well.

I’ll just ignore looking at my team for next week with Palmer, Gusto and Udogie :)

It would be so tremendously Spursy to do so, but unfortunately the side is so crap and so gutted by injuries that I’m not sure they could beat a pub team at this point.

Yeah, that's him.

Haven't listened to his post match stuff yet, but i'm sure it's the same old "unlucky with injuries, young team" etc.. No doubt his friends in the media will be backing him up with "madness to sack him, got to give him time".

Can anyone tell me what Chelsea were trying to do out there? It's the same every game. We only look good when we're breaking at speed and the game has broken down. Hence why we look better against stronger opponents who you can counter. When we have the ball? The players look absolutely clueless, there's no philosophy or structure there.

Then you get onto the team. Chalobah and Silva have been great together the last few games, what does he do? Drops them both and plays Badiashile/Disasi, who have looked terrible together all year. We need a right back, why doesn't he play the talented one from the youth team? Instead he hangs Gilchrist, a centre back, out to dry on his first start in the Premier League.

Chukwuemeka has been great whenever he's played, the perfect back up to Palmer. Poch gives him zero minutes.. He keeps throwing Enzo out there who has played the last few months with a hernia, he has to take multiple injections just to be able to walk onto the pitch. On top of that? He's got Enzo and Caicedo in some kind of archaic system designed for Wanyama and Sissoko.

I mean seriously.. can you imagine him at Real Madrid? He'd get Kroos and Modric running 14 miles a game trying to cover vast areas.

Then you've got Jackson, who's been so good in so many ways. Especially whenever he's played on the left. In the last two games alone he's made Saliba, Gabriel, Stones and Akanji look like novices on multiple occasions... but he can't finish. Why hasn't Washington played at all this season? He's a Brazilian wonderkid who's scored for fun at every level he's ever played at. Sending Jackson out at number 9 over and over again is gross negligence. Calling it a sackable offence is too kind, it's strip him of his UEFA Pro Licence and never manage another side again.

The local Girl Guide's under 9's need a coach? Put your hand down, Mauricio. Britney's Dad, Nigel gets the gig ahead of you, you absolute melt.

Spot on!

I've said it before, but it's like assembling a group of supremely talented maths genius kids, with the potential to go on to solve equations that will open up the ability to travel faster than the speed of light, allowing humans to become inter planetary, intergalactic even.. and ensure the future of the human race.

.. yet someone has decided to put Diane Abbott in charge of the lessons.

And the owners are happy and see progress? I mean wtf.

They've bought a crap load of raw gold hoping to turn it into Million Pound pieces of jewellery and the fella they've put in charge of achieving that is eating it as cereal.

But "he's doing a good job, much progress, XG means we should be 4th"? I know people say they don't know what they're doing, but bloody hell.

Badge in FC doing Formula One while I'm in a go-kart with Miss Daisy. But it's not just Badge In this week, rest of the bloody league scoring 50s and so on, while I'm on 7. Absolute disgrace, and I'm disgusted.

Any kind of new tournament to compete in can't come soon enough!

Go-kart might even be pushing it a bit. More like a bloody bumper car at Halloween thunderland. Or as they're more commonly known, ''dodgems.''

Check me out, everybody. woohoo, look at me go.

Evidence of what would have happened during the season if Palmer wasn't there to bail them out.

You’re spot on.

They keep reading out the stats. “Palmer has been responsible for 48.7% of Chelsea’s goals this season”, and the like.

Earlier, Ally McCoist said it was 20 something points.

This Pochettino team is worse than last years, comfortably.

He’s essentially been given someone who’s one of the favourites for POTY, great chance at winning the golden boot.. and we’re still mid table.

Take him out the side? I genuinely think we’d be relegation candidates. The numbers suggest so anyway.

A graphic today showed Chelsea 18th without Palmer’s contributions. Literally in the drop zone. The club is in a genuine crisis, Palmer is literally just our first superstar since Hazard so he makes the results a bit better.

It’s not indifferent to 2017-2019 Chelsea being a bang average midtable side that Hazard carried to trophies and European qualification.

Obviously someone else would’ve played instead of Palmer, so it’s probably not quite as bad as it sounds, but let’s be honest.. if it was Madueke or Broja or whoever in his place? I think you’re probably looking at 1/10th of Palmers output, and that’s if you’re being generous.

But yes, completely baffles me why the owners say they’re seeing improvements and Poch is doing a good job. Palmer aside, the rest of the team is genuinely bottom 5. And let’s not forget, those teams down there are scrapping like their life depends on it. If we were in it with them? I don’t see us coming out on top. You only have to look at recent performances against Burnley and Sheffield United.

There’s a decent thread on Twitter tonight. He was one of the only sensible people back in the summer questioning things. Alex, myself, you and a few others felt like we were in a large minority back then. I remember everyone predicting we’d be pushing for a top 4 spot, I couldn’t get my head around it.

Oh god we might get Pochettino. This is bad. Like really bad. Earth shatteringly bad. I’m gonna have to sit through trophyless seasons being told they’re for egos and we should prioritize top 4. May as well be ****ing Solksjaer.

6 games into a season and you barely give him enough time to figure out anything with the team? Come on. If we were this **** in December/January I’d get it, but what’s the point man. It’s a baffling decision.
@Feña14 lol

Would it really have been any worse with Solksjaer, Scott Parker, or even Ange Postecoglou? Ehh, probably not. Just a bunch of punt managers were taking a chance might be the next Pep/Klopp. The reality is he wants a puppet to control, and the best managers in world football aren’t puppets, they demand the highest from everyone around them.

It’s really not that difficult. The squad is good enough, if there was a tactical frame for them to work out of and a little bit of game management, it’s easy to turn the club around and be at least competing for a European spot again.

Right now Pochettino is a “babysitter” or a “daycare teacher”. He’s just there to watch the kids, give them some basic instruction and off they go. Sometimes you need coaches that are daycare teachers to give them freedom if they already have some tactical/game framework.

But right now these players need a real, genuine teacher. Someone who can actually help them and not just watch over them. I think Poch is so reluctant to really implement rigid tactics because he doesn’t want to ruin the development of a player. Rubbish to that. This is a team sport, not an individual sport. They need to play and act like a team. And look at them, they don’t act like a team. No on-pitch know how, fighting over who gets the penalty, laughing after season-ending defeats. You can’t convince me Pochettino has created a comradery within the squad, he hasn’t.

Should be interesting battle. Mbappé with 2 last night. But yeah, can imagine City winning everything and Haaland breaking all the records. Booooo. Nah, I'm sure he will slow down a bit. But then, maybe he just has the one game without scoring and doesn't go on drought. Then he scores 2 after 3 touches in the next match.
Since we're going back in time. Was right about City winning everything. Booo.

Ok.

Anywho, I find it weird how the owners have the most patience in the world for failing managers but lose it all when Tuchel doesn’t reply to a Whatsapp message.

I just don’t understand how they’ve made almost 0 good footballing decisions since they took over.
Sorry, I shouldn't go on Twitter, it makes me lose the plot more than usual. I kept reading and there would be a message in the middle about nude pictures in profile. Then I actually thought Pochettino was sacked because there was a sky sports meme saying he's sacked. But then it was followed by a, ''I want this more than anything.'' I guess you all do as well.

As for Hojlund. If he doesn't turn out to be any good for us, then it's just another one to add to the list, unfortunately. But I don't think he's a dud. Movement needs work, we're not passing the ball to him or getting in positions to supply him. We're rubbish, of course. No real secret there.

I’d have needed some tranquilizers and anaesthesia to calm down after last night.
A pretty unforgettable ending. Still sad about it all because I'd have loved to tie the series 1-1 before the home games for LA, putting an end to the losing streak. etc Now the losing streak continues and it's gained even more power because of the ending. And 10 in a row. Damn it!

That's what concerns me too.

People talk about the lack of experience and leaders being an issue, which it definitely is, but it's overblown imo.

A team packed with an incredible amount of young talent can still have a great season. They could be inconsistently applying a managers tactical framework, make the wrong choice every now and then within an intricate rotation he's trying to implement, maybe Gusto took a while to get used to inverting into a number 8 role (like Ange has the Spurs full backs doing), maybe Caicedo got caught a few times receiving the ball facing his own goal under pressure. When he does get it right? It becomes impossible for opponents to press high up, it's one of the modern day cheat codes that all the top teams have.

All of these things would be perfectly acceptable. You can see the plan, you can judge the progress of both the team and the individual players when there's a framework they're all working in.

Gallagher running around like a mad man, using your two technically gifted midfielders as space eating road runners and your only attacking options being a chaotic fast break or giving it to Palmer and hope he does something? It's absurd.

As you say though, I don't think the owners realise. Even if they were to get rid of Poch, I imagine they'd go after someone equally unsuitable.

The media doesn't seem to realise either. "Caicedo and Enzo? Waste of money". That's like buying an F1 car and saying it's rubbish, worst car ever! Just because it can't fit your food shop in the boot. Until you use it properly, it's pointless. It's just a bad workman blaming his tools.

As much as I want to give benefit of the doubt and hope the backroom changes, recruitment, will magically improve things. I can still picture a world where Kalvin Phllips is the first signing of the Southgate Man Utd era. I'm not sure what to make of Southgate links. Everything feels like the usual wild speculation.

Was reading an article about 3 better options. But they all feel highly unlikely as well. Xavi, Inzaghi and Emery.

Pound for pound, Emery is the best manager in the Premier League, so that article says. I do think that is spot on. And it does go back to the , who would really want this job?

One final line I read. ''Man Utd fold quicker than my mother's pavlova.'' haha Good one.

Those transfer links I posted the other day. Frimpong, why on Earth would he want to come here? He's playing for a team making history this season, on to the Champions League next season. etc

Yeah, best to ignore everything. I'd love to but I can't.
