3 away wins in a row. Very nice very nice. Maximum points from next 2 league games and I should think some progress is being made. Not 2 points, not 4, all 6. :happydevil:

Beat Chelsea, play crap for couple of months, start over. :p

Still buzzing that I saw them live. And wouldn't you just know it, after not winning away since PSG, we now won three in a row since that moment.

You're welcome.

Had to go to page 4 to find this thread. Unbelievable. City have to bring some life back to the game and defeat Liverpool. Hopefully with a 96th minute winner.

Paul Scholes.

''It has been awesome. Some of the best play I've seen at Old Trafford in a long long time. Only criticism is it is not 4 or 5. ''

Chelsea up to second and then Leicester up to second. I wasn't as impressed with the Leciester win since Arsenal are kind of in the similar position to us, you don't get surprised by these loses today and they're expected. Winning would be more surprising. Still very impressed with Leicester overall. I wonder if City will be back up to second tomorrow, making an interesting top four at least. We shall see.

Pulisic looks like a real big money player.

Hoping for a similar style pefromance that we had in first half the other night.

Haven't been in the mood to update recently. Results are decent, had five La Liga wins in a row that ended on the previous weekend with a loss to Levante in Valencia, followed by a disappointing goalless draw in the Champions League against Slavia Prague. After 45 games Barca failed to score at Camp Nou. Team got back on track tonight with a 4-1 win over Celta, but obviously it is sad that a lot of it depends on whether the captain is in the mood to play his finest football or not.

As the legend of Messi who scored a hat trick this evening with a penalty and two marvelous free kicks continues to grow, the rest of the team is showing its holes that even he can't cover up. It might be enough for La Liga, as Barca are top of the table now on goal difference, but for the first time since Rijkaard's first season in charge, back when Barca wasn't even playing in the Champions League, I am already conceding the fact that our club won't be winning it this time. Just not the complete puzzle that is required. Last season was a glorious opportunity to deceive everyone and enjoy ourselves, and that chance won't happen again for Barcelona in this state. For the first time I would prefer more of a Real Madrid approach regarding managers, as the Barcelona board is showing too much trust for my taste...

Glad to see Leicester and Chelsea punching above their weight so far. Shame that Liverpool rescued a few points late already, it could have set us up for a great Premier League race right away. Now City might have an obligation to win at the ground where they never did well, while Liverpool have turned it into a fortress in general for the last couple of years...

Liverpool show no mercy against City. Up to Chelsea or Leicester to do the job. ''Liverpool are ruthless, clincal and can adapt to circumstances.''

Man Utd were decent today.

Pulisic looks incredible. He runs with the ball like Hazard does, but he seems to have more about him (personality wise). I think Hazard is more gifted overall (it’s closer than I thought though), but Pulisic has a more ruthless side.

The knock on Hazard was he never made the most of his talent, didn’t score enough, could go missing in games if he didn’t fancy it, gained weight after injuries/between seasons etc.. Pulisic could turn out to be a fairly comparable replacement, which I didn’t expect at all.

One of Spain's greatest players has announced his retirement at the end of Japanese league season.

He has won everything there is to win. 3 La Liga trophies, 3 Copa del Rey titles, Champions League, Club World Cup and UEFA Super Cup in his club career, while also winning the World Cup and Euros, finishing as the top goalscorer of the 2008 tournament.

He retires with 59 international goals, the highest total in La Roja colors. And during Spain's finest moments, it's this guy who delivered the end product regularly. Most notably, his performances in earlier stages of the World Cup in South Africa secured the national team's progress to the final stages of the tournament, as he scored crucial goals against Honduras, Chile, Portugal and Paraguay. Spain went on to become world champions for the first time after beating Germany and Netherlands.

One of best ever strikers this league has ever had, finishing 12th in the all time rankings with 185 strikes. Prolific ever since his young days in Gijon and Zaragoza, winning Copa with the latter, he achieved worldwide recognition in Valencia, where he has the fifth highest total of goals in club's history. He was also an important part of Atletico Madrid for one season when they won La Liga under Simeone.

And the greatest heights of his club career happened here. An important player in what is considered by many the best team ever assembled - Pep Guardiola's Barcelona, delivering the final blow to Manchester United in the perfect football performance during 2011 Champions League final at Wembley, the crowning moment of our club's dominance of the continent.

Muchisimas gracias, David Villa.

One of my favourite players of all time. Probably the only striker i'd of swapped Drogba for 10-15 years ago (crazy to think it was that long ago).

This is not good. :/

Inter Milan have revealed they received a threatening letter containing a bullet in the post, but denied manager Antonio Conte was the target.

Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera had reported that the former Chelsea manager had received the letter to his home address, but Inter have denied that took place.
Meanwhile, Conte's wife Elisabetta Muscarello wrote on social media: "For the record: the story of the bullet is a hoax!"

Poch has been sacked.

I was reading an article earlier about how it will be a long drawn out process with Spurs getting rid of Poch.

Hours later he is sacked. Yep, long drawn out process alrite.

And we would have to drag Valverde out of the office, or have as bad of a start to the season as Tottenham have, in order to have a chance of sacking him.

It’s going to be pretty much impossible to replace him, even after a poor start to the season he’s done an incredible job, plays nice football etc.. I think they were just tired of his crap.

Man United better give Poch as much time as he spent in Tottenham, if he ends up there.

Jose to return to London? He's been out of a job for nearly a year now.

Yeah, he really did take Spurs to a new level. Maybe this ''project'' wouldn't have been glamorous enough for Jose before Poch worked there.

Can't wait for someone to say Jose picked an easy job again.

Harsh on Pochettino. Back in the day he would be safe for a lot longer after guiding Spurs into a CL final and having them compete in a title race.

Spurs chose the nuclear option, League Cup in the first season maybe the FA Cup in the second and the self destruction begins in the third. :-D

I don't think Mourinho is as good as he used to be, the game has moved on quite a bit over the last 10-15 years.

I don't think it's too bad though, Spurs are kind of where Chelsea were when he first took over (gone deep in the Champions League, regularly in the top 4 etc..). Spurs, like Chelsea back then, don't know how to get over the line. That's one thing Jose is good at.

I agree, it will probably all end in tears eventually. If he teaches the likes of Kane, Alli etc.. how to become winners before then? That's a pretty good deal. Can Mourinho's style of football get them into those positions in this era? That's something i'm not so sure about.

That was a bad performance against last placed Leganes in Madrid, but the guys responded to El-Nesyri's wonderful curled shot early in the game. Suarez headed in from Messi's free kick, while Vidal converted a bad clearance from the corner for a second half comeback and a seventh victory in the last eight La Liga matches.

Bad mood as the important part of the season approaches. Borussia Dortmund are coming to Camp Nou on Wednesday, and Barcelona will have to win that game to seal progress to the knockout stages. Not doing that might result in last day drama and possible humiliation of going out.

Next weekend, one of the most annoying match ups await as Atletico Madrid will host Barca. With our abysmal away form lately they will have a good shot at winning their first league match against Barcelona since 2010. Hosting Mallorca after that, then three successive demanding matches. Inter away in the Champions League, Real Sociedad at our least favorite ground in Spain, and then the postponed El Clasico at Camp Nou.

I don't expect good results. But what I definitely expect is that the manager won't be sacked whatever happens. :sneaky: Hopefully this torment won't last beyond next summer.

The special one is happy about being back in his natural habitat. Bit like me when I'm playing Top Spin. ::p

''For the first time I didn’t have a pre-season and I was looking at other managers having pre-seasons. I was going to football stadiums and wondering what I was doing there. I belong there [on the touchline]. That is where I belong. That is my natural habitat. I just love it. Especially when things go your way."

Liverpool do it again. Palace with a late equaliser and then Liverpool with winner minutes later.

Leicester keep the pressure on with 2-0 win against Brighton.

Time for City and Chelsea.

Lewandowski's perfect start to the season ends. He scored in each of Bayern's first 11 Bundesliga games. Today even though Bayern won 4-0, he didn't get on the scoresheet.

Mad streak when you think about it. I remember Van Nistelrooy's 10 in a row record in the Premier League stood for a long time, and then Vardy broke it during Leicester's title winning season. But this one won't be talked about to such an extent at all. Hardly anyone will even notice it.

And guess what other streak is rarely brought up? Probably because it wasn't achieved on a cold rainy night in Stoke.

In 2012-13 season, Leo scored in 21 consecutive La Liga games, against all 19 league opponents in succession. ;)

Some reports in Spain claiming Messi has already been informed that he will win this year's Ballon d'Or which will be announced on Monday. He also posted a video on social media that shows him next to the five of these individual prizes he won in the past.

Interesting turn of events. Van Dijk was the favorite during the summer when Liverpool won the Champions League. But it looks like Messi will win a record breaking sixth, beating Van Dijk and Ronaldo. Can't say I am not happy for him if that's the case. Sounds strange he hasn't won any since 2015 even though he has continued to deliver the goods on a regular basis.
