Yeah, I was reading about your injuries. A shame.

The gambling man might put a few on United for their accumulator. The rest will be odds on and United the moneymaker. I'm not without optimism. I do believe the manager bump is a real thing even if the manager was already with them. It's a different position. Still don't fancy it but watch and find out.

Looks like Chilwell is out for the remainder of the season. That’s a big blow.

Yeah the new manager bump is real. Very often we see a club in the relegation zone fire their manager with 10 games to go, then go on a run and save themselves. Not saying United were in a relegation battle  but it’s amazing what can happen when the cloud that’s been hanging over a team gets removed.

After a goalless draw against Benfica on a rainy day at Camp Nou, Barca remain second, two points ahead of the Portuguese side. In the last group game, while they will host dead last Dynamo Kyiv, Barca will play away against... Bayern.

You will be hearing from me on Thursday evenings next spring. :sneaky:

I don't know about everyone else, but i'm a bit confused about what's going on at Barcelona. We keep being told they're in dire straits financially, restructuring contracts because they can't afford wages, couldn't afford to keep Messi etc..

Yet this week they seem to want to sign Sterling, Werner, Ziyech and Pulisic. How does that work?

Don't forget the Haaland plan.

Focus on youth and some free or cheap transfers is all I expect during the beginning stages of this reset. I wouldn't read much into any rumors that don't fall in those categories at the moment...

They went back to have with better terms after he rejected the first offer. It's done. Carricky won't be interim of the interim much longer. He will get the Chelsea match but that should be it.

Goldy is over the moon right now. Yeah, not daring to get super excited, but it's one of those turning the page situations. Not going to pretend I know much about him. Yeah, I've heard of him and know we've played against his teams before. What I do know is that he has great experience, a clue and Thomas Tuchel would be working in a bar in Stuttgart if not for his influence.

still can’t believe Daniel Levy managed to steal Conte from under United’s nose like this. What a masterclass from the most incompetent boardroom in the Premier League.

Rangnick hasn’t managed for quite a while iirc, though obviously he was running the show from a director of football sort of position at Leipzig. Interested to see how he does and if he transitions to a technical role at United eventually.

Can't steal something we didn't want. haha Look at me being all arrogant again. He won't be their mates. He will be their boss. OHHHHHHHHHH yes.

I feel bad for having to google about him just now.

Can the first thing he does is kick out the owners and all other sources of toxicity? The guy is German so surely he must be intimidating right? RAUS! SCHNELL!

Just wait for our next loss.

But if you are over the moon then I am excited too. :D

I had to do some research as well. lol Then you end up reading a lot of glorious stuff. Just like to hear things like ''style of play.'' It looked like we were without one for a long time. I'm hearing a lot of the players won't fit his style but not too concerned about that yet.

I'll try to be patient. :p

"The only interim manager I would have gone for"

Okay, regular United Stand followers, please tell me did genius Goldy ever bring up Ralf in between Ole's departure and today, or is he talking out of his arse again?
LOL Yeah, he is telling the truth this time. A lot of the members kept throwing his name in when they were talking about an interim manager. He said he wanted Ralf but he didn't think we could get him. That might actually be a positive since he rejected the first offer.

Goldbridge will turn against him the second they lose a game. I went back and watched his watchalong of the PSG second leg win and he was utterly obsessed with Ole. Saying if he can do this with reserves wait to see what he can do with a “real” team. He will be crying for Poch by March.

From the brief reading about him, it's the later two year consultancy that sounds more exciting to me. Gives impression of some nice long term planning, plus this season is in the trash can already.

Then again the last two Champions Leagues were won by German managers who joined the teams during the season. Maybe there is a pattern, ahem ahem...

I can excuse him that one time. Think a lot of people got carried away with that one win. That's basically how Ole earned his compensation that he gave to charity. Or so I was told.

Still a chance we will have both at the club if Ralf moves upstairs. I'm full of the joys of Spring on this cold and wet day. GET IN.

I agree but he’s always like that. Remember he loved Fred once upon a time :D

Interesting to see what Rangnick can do with the United squad, do something about Maguire improve him or dump him.

I hope he either kicks out or gets some of the slackers in proper order, rather than them driving him away. If he really is that influential. Best of luck to the guy.

Yeah, it looks like Barcelona have some fantastic young talent again. Focus on developing that, maybe sell one for big money at some point down the line and a few smart signings to compliment it all seems like the sensible approach. If the mess is as bad as the media keeps telling us it is, trying to fix it all in 6 months seems like a recipe for disaster.

It can be done, but it will take time.

I don't mean to go all footy manager again, but yeah, I had a good look at their squad. For all those that talk about the academy not being what it was. I dunno. I mean, it's just easy to say that now since they have not been as successful as the platinum period. (gold undersells it :p ) Still could strengthen in some areas, obviously. You would have to give them a chance, of course.

Still so many hot potential players at 19 or whatever. I'd love to have some of that. Can only wait and see how they can do with Xavi now in charge.

From few years ago.

RB Leipzig head coach Ralf Rangnick uses a spinning wheel to determine player punishments, which include: working in club shop, serving food in team cafeteria, guiding stadium tours, mowing grass on training pitches, buying gifts for club staff, training in a tutu.

Just for that last part I want him to bring the wheel here and see if Pogba will still be strutting around the pitch. :-D

Class.

Leave the social media stuff to Goldbridge. I don't care how much my support is appreciated. I want to see teamwork and wins. Lifetime internet ban for any player caught using social media after a match.

World Cup play-off draw has Scotland at home to Ukraine in the semis and then away to Wales/Austria in the final should we win. Not easy, but definitely doable.

One of Italy and Portugal will miss out after they were drawn into the same path, alongside North Macedonia and Turkey.

Russia/Poland and Sweden/Czech Republic are the ties in the other section.

That's a really strong looking playoff, not a bad team in there.

Scenes

''Benfica took a 7-0 half-time lead before Belenenses returned with just seven players; the referee was forced to call the game off a minute into the second half as an injury took the home side beneath the minimum number of players required on the field

Benfica's clash with Belenenses was abandoned amid extraordinary scenes after the Covid-hit Primeira Liga strugglers were forced to name a team of just nine players - including two goalkeepers.

The visitors cashed in to rack up seven goals by half-time, before Belenenses returned with just seven players.

The match was then called off a minute into the second half as goalkeeper Joao Monteiro dropped to the floor, forcing the referee to abandon the game due to the minimum number of players not being on the field.''

What a strike by Lanzini something out of nothing.

Dull defensive 1st half performance from United, just a matter of time before the defence gets breached.

That lob attempt from Fred near the end of the game... I hope Rangnick makes him cry in training every day. What a waste of space again.

Such a stupid penalty to concede. Can't complain about the draw though. Most of the action was in front of our goal, and we scored from Chelsea's error too.

Looking at the upcoming schedule... Time to finally get some wins now.

I'm still up for some Thursday night league action.

Sancho is on a roll.

I didn't see the game today. Good to know that in the future, we won't have to wait until 25 minutes to get a touch in the opposition box. I'd hope so, anyway.

Second time in a few games that we've battered a bang average, mid table side from the North West.. only to end up drawing 1-1

Great to see Man Utd have a bit of fight and doing the basics again, but any side dominating the game that much (67% possession, 24 shots to 3, 8 times as many corners, 8 times the touches in the opponents box, expected goals 3 v 0.8 etc..) should be winning those games easily.

This is why I wanted Lewandowski in the summer. He makes hard finishes look easy, our lot make the easy ones look like rocket science. Werner contorted himself like Stretch Armstrong for one of the easier ones, only to end up toe poking it out close to a throw in. Bizarre stuff.
