Thiem is 7-1 vs Top 5 players on Hard-Courts since Massu became his coach.

That's actually really impressive. All of them close too (except the Medvedev one) so winning 7/8 close matches against top 5 players, where most of them are against the big 3, is eye opening. I said earlier this year that Thiem is at his peak now and it shows.
We have to see if he can make it on grass at Wim though.

I don't think he's going to be great on grass. Everybody can't be like the big 3 and be great on everything. He might luck up once they are so old or retired, since the new generation isn't good on it either, but he won't reach the level of Federer, Djokovic, Nadal or Murray on grass.

Think he got (slightly) worse on clay, and much better on hard. I think Massu can still make his clay court game bette to win RG.

We will see. Not really thinking about the level of those 4 but to a good standard. Improved his serve and slice so possible.

Thiem is in this weird position where I want him to win more Grand Slams than Wawrinka but fewer than Murray

He's better than Wawrinka imo and can actually bring it in multiple events, not just Slams. Hope his career materializes to show that.

He has been at his peak since last year, IMO.

The way I see it is 2017-present has been his prime, while 2019-present has been his peak.

The bounce is the problem for most players though and the trickiness of the surface when it comes to footing. His gamestyle isn't really suited for it imo, kind of like Wawrinka.

The key to him winning RG is Nadal declining. The tournament is not on his racket. Because you can bet Theim will *never* approach Nadal's best at RG. So it's a waiting game for him.

Not better than Stan yet. More consistent, but you can't just discount 3 slam titles, all 3 of which are better than Thiem's 1.

This is versus over the hill Big 3 and head case Meddy.
Think it's got more to do with that than Massu.

Massu has made his strokes more compact and Thiem has not lost too much pace/spin while becoming way more consistent and able to play better defense to win long rallies. He is the rare combination of great pace, high topspin, good movement and excellent serve which is contributing to more and more self-confidence.

Looks like the 2020AO final was an aberration. He plays like the #1 ranked player in the world should play - hope he achieves this ranking next year.
