Normally these kind of statements about Rafa means he is not fully there yet.

Rafa is a humble assassin, not a noise maker.
He is very ready 5 hour training session, uncle tony made a good point Nadal is practising harder than ever. I believe Nole is up for a rude awakening in 2016.

The last time Toni made these sort of statements, Nadal had that epic undefeated US summer.
Nadal's camp normally doesnt make these sort of statements

So he had a personality swap? Rafa is schizophrenic? Is he bi-polar? Is he.... Charlie Sheen?!

if nadal can get back to a winning player in 2016... if he can be motivated to put 2015 to rest..to silence the critics.. he can win a few majors with the absent field that novak has dealt with. might make for a more interesting upcoming season

They swapped out the chip and rebooted, kind of like Djokovic in 2011.

I do think Nadal will win a slam next year as he is still in good shape and not too old yet. He is only one year older than Novak and should have good-great chances at all the slams.

I don't really take what Toni says very seriously because we always get these funny quotes from him every now and then. However, I do believe Nadal will be a contender in 2016 after a rather good showing from him this fall. I think he started to regain his confidence little by little and will re-integrate the top 4 next year. Whether you love him or not, Nadal adds excitement to the game and I believe he's one of the few players that can challenge Djokovic when he's in form. I definitely look forward to that.

I don't know why everyone is so skeptical. This quote only seems to confirm what many of us have seen. Rafa was crippled by fear and indecision when he was at his lowest, earlier this season. As time has gone on he is looking much more positive on court with each match/tournament. There have been countless debates over whether Rafa's struggles were rooted in mind or body. I've always thought it was mostly the former with maybe a little of the latter (aging, time off tour etc.) To me it seemed pretty transparent that confidence and fear have been a BIG part of the problem. And if he's ever gonna have a chance to get back to the top of the game (beat Fed/Nole/Muzz/Stan in Slam) he would need to fix his head. Aside from his loss to Novak in WTF he has been steadily looking better and better in his attitude. I don't know if he's back to being totally fearless but he looks much, much better than before. So Toni's statement could be 100% honest, even if a bit wishful.

In 2010, Uncle Toni said We Are Going To New York To Win The US Open.
Uncle knows best....
The "supercoaches" will be crying in their beers come early February.

U. Toni says in his interview to COP, a radio network in Spain [translated by @genny]:

"What happened to Rafa [lack of confidence] was coming from constant stress, not due to competition, but due to injuries."
"Getting injured in the AO 2014 final was a big blow. When he recovered, the wrist issue happened and then appendicitis when he was trying to come back. All this caused him a huge stress and lack of confidence in his body. He was going on court without knowing/trusting what his body would do."
