BHBR last 3hours, all said. Not for me! Despite that, awesome string
Still playing with BHB7 for 2h and looks fresh, let's see what is going to happen :)

Been playing primarily with Hyper G 1.25 and Cyclone Tour 1.30. The BHB7 1.25 plays well in PS97 and 6.1 95 18x20. Just cut the price of my strings in half buying it by the reel. ($5.50 a frame)

Dude... try it in an 18 x 20 Blade... it rocks!!!

The 17G is made for that frame

Have a number of friends playing with that frame. Hear it is awesome. In the process of switching from RF97 to PS97 and picked up some 6.1’s at 85.99 each. Have 3 RF97’s Red/black and 3 RF97’s black that I may sell to get some more frames. Tend to like the head light frames better. Will try to demo a blade at some point.

The Blade 98 is not HL very much and hard to get moving for sure. The BLX Blade I have has a SW of about 340. I added some lead inside the butt-cap to make it bit easier to get moving. Some folks just add a nice leather grip.

Excellent string for spin players with tender elbows. Like Sidewinder with control or a softer Black Widow IMO.

I have some question for guys that use Big hitter black 7. I started using this last week and power level is pretty good, almost in par with Lux alu power. and spin is pretty darn good too, almost in par with Tourbite. However, the feel on this string is bit odd. didn't have as good of feel on Volleys and I was poping up some volleys that I normally hit well especially low volleys.
As you use this string more and more, does this feel improve ?? sometimes as you use the string more, you get used to the feel and your feel improves. Is this the case for you guys ?

I’ve seen some guys go up a couple of lbs from their normal tension with BHB7. For me it plays consistent for a couple of weeks and then I will start to have some flyers. Time to cut it out then.

What does couple of weeks equate to ? 6-8 hours ? Also I felt like BHB7 doesn't feel the ball as well as Alu power. so I have some issues on drop shots or half volleys. Is this because I am so new to BHB7 ? does the feel get better as I play more with it ? and how do you think this string compare to more popular strings like Alu power or Tourbite ? Thank you in advance.

Normally I would just cut this out due to lack of feel but the spin and power was pretty good so I am very tempted to keep trying it for a while longer.

Yea, hit 3-4hrs a week so about 6-8hrs total. Alu is just a better string when it comes to feel. Tourbite is about the same on spin but seems much stiffer than BHB7.

Anyone ever hybrid BHB7 in crosses with gut in mains? Thinking about moving from a full bed of poly to a hybrid and need some slick crosses.

You're better off with the shaped string in the mains. Shaped crosses damage the mains more. Try Gosen OGSM for a cross string. BHB7 1.25/OGSM 1.30 should be a nice hybrid for a more open string pattern. For a closed pattern try BHB7 1.20/OGSM 1.22. I would ordinarily string poly/sg with a 3 lb. tension differential, but for BHB7 I would string at the same tension.

With Gut in the mains I have been using BHBZ in the crosses with great success. One of the slickest poly’s I have worked with. Have never used BHB7 in the crosses with gut mains due to it being a shaped string. My thought was that it would saw through the gut quicker.

You can also try the 16G or use Black Zone in the crosses to create a more stable string bed. The 17G gets 'hot" when it near the end of its life... yes time to cut it out..

Those are good ideas. It is fairly dramatic when the 17g loses control toward the end.

wow.. I was the OP on this thread in 2011..LOL. Guess I forgot that I ran an unofficial play test..LOL. Yes,, when the BHB7 17g goes the string is very powerful indeed.

There is some great stuff in this thread from a few posters do not post much these days. This string is still a wonderful price / performer. Get in reels and a better deal.

My three favs.. in the shaped world or BHB7 17G.. Cyclone 19G and LF Vorso 17G. If you a frame with a tight pattern.. these are great strings for your frames.

Not sure how I missed this string all these years but it is business for sure. Enjoying BHS7T now.

How tight should BHS7T be strung? I jus ordered couple sets and want to try it in my VCP 100 300g (which is a great frame btw) forgiveness of a 100 with precision of a thin beamed control frame. Leaded up 10/2 with 6 grams each and 9/3 with 3 grams each. Usually I go 50 lb mains/48 crosses using shaped soft copoly 17g in mains and SPPP in crosses (my fav cross string bar none). I’m hoping to find the right tension where I can get the most free power while still maintaining control.

Hard to say. I string it at 52 in a RF97 and 50 in a PS97. Just have to experiment. Could start with the same tension 50/48 and go up or down from there. (52/50, 48/46)

I think that is a great place to begin. I am right around 50..52.. etc with the BHB7 17G and a bit tighter based on the weather. Spring / late Fall tennis here is much different than mid summer conditions. I am in the North East.

I string S7T at 51/46, whereas with a full bed of Solinco Revolution or Hyper-G of the same gauge I would be at around 49/46.

I remember trying this string out about 5 years ago. I had two sets of it. I played with it as a full bed strung at 50 in my PS97. I really liked this string. But I only got about 2 hours out of a set before balls started flying all over the place. It lost its shape and a lot of tension after just 1 match. Terrible tension maintenance.

Haven’t experienced this with BHB7 or BHS7T. Great strings for tension maintenance. BHB7 is a powerful string and using in a powerful frame like PS97 may be the loss of control you are experiencing after the initial tension drop that all poly strings have.
I use them in a 6.1 95 18x20 for 8-10hrs and then cut them out. Playability is excellent.
TW ranks BHB7 as one of the better strings for tension maintenance based on their testing. Tension loss of 24% as compared to RPM Blast at 33%.

Since switching to the Ultra Tour I’ve been looking for a string to open up the sweetspot a little bit. Gut/poly has been hitting the spot but I definitely want to try BHB7 again.

Agree with @TennisManiac - noticeably more power than TourBite, roughly the same bite on the ball, roughly the same durability (TourBite was among the most durable of the 20 or so poly strings I tested), and a bit softer impact.
I agree with all of that assessment. However, I felt like control and feel was better with Tourbite with same gauge

That's true but for me it seems to be purely a matter of the increased power. Some powerful strings seem to get their power from being elastic and trampoline-like, sometimes flinging ghe ball unexpectedly, but S7T is not like that. Directional accuracy seems very good and very consistent, but just the length control takes some getting used to.

Gut poly is the only way to go for that finicky frame.
I’m really starting to think so. I’ve used full beds of Luxilon Element, Laserfibre JB Tour 100, and Kirschbaum Xplosive Speed (think that’s what it’s called). The sweetspot on the Ultra Tour is pretty small (even with lead at 3 and 9) so all three full beds of poly have felt a little brassy.

Bit of a year old bump, but anyone else still got a love for the Big Hitter Black 7?
I've been using the 1.20 gauge in my Blade 98 spare frame while testing strings as our clay is getting too wet for gut/poly.
I just keep coming back to this poly due to its fantastic pop and spin.

I still have a reel of it and use it from time to time. I've moved on to Black Knight as my go-to.

I started stringing the 18 ga in my son's Pure Strike as both a full bed and as a main with various multis as crosses to test. He loves the extra kick he gets off his serve with it. I bought a reel as it's a decent bargain as well.

I love this string and have been using it for 5 years. Im surprised it isn't more popular. The spin is great and it is very comfortable. I have it in my ezone 98 which is a good blend.

Definitely good spin, but I think the issue that I had was that it went mushy really quickly which meant the playability and power changed too much throughout its life cycle. By the second session it would lose so much power that it was difficult to serve

Same, it felt super mushy and I already use soft flexy frames. And it felt underpowered despite it being considered a more powerful poly.
