To me the Next Gen is anyone from Medvedev to Shapovalov (1996-1999).

2000-2003 is the new gen with FAA, Sinner, Alcaraz, Rune and Korda.
That's what i initially thought.
But what about Kyrgios?
I remember him being called next gen in 15-18

At this point he isn't next anything. He's 27.

But if you want to hear how I usually group generations into years, I usually do it like:

1980-1984 - the Fed gen
1985-1989 - Djokodal gen
1990-1994 - Lost Gen
1995-1999 - Next Gen
2000-2004 - New Gen

For me Tsitsipas played more clay this season than anyone else. He should have had a break before, I found him mentally tired the whole tournament. Not fresh. Was always going to be a struggle for him

I don't think he's comfortable with his string setup, he said he had problems finding his rhythm off the ground...
So I'd say this is just a temporary setback.

The negativity on here is out of this world, he wins a MC and gets told he had it too easy so it doesn't matter, reaches another Master finals beating 2 top 10 players but yet it still isn't good enough and now he looses when he hasn't really been in form all week and gets told he's the worst and needs to retire. The guys has surgery 6 months ago and has had change in his equipment. When Djokovic had the same surgery it also took him a couple month before coming back to his original form. These players can never do anything right on here and when they fail, its the end of the world

He's had time to adjust by now.

Tsitsipas was scarred by multiple Alcaraz defeats and he's realizing that his generation may have missed their chance to the new young guns.

The "old" next gen is now the filler between the new guys and the old warhorses who aren't going away.

Probably this. He OP makes it sound like he Greek hit 80 UEs, but Rune hit 54 winners here, some of them brilliant.

The fact is that this Stefanos’s generation and the one before it are devoid of top tier talent and that has artificially extended Nadal’s and Djokovic’s respective strangleholds on slams.

”10 slams in any other era.” LMAO

It's very possible that the 90's born players may not give birth to a single ATG. The first decade since the 40's that this happens.

I’ve noticed this year whenever Tsitsipas falls behind a younger talented opponent, he mentally falls apart. He would visibly look flustered and start flailing in the middle of points (bad decisions, shanks, just god awful shots). Instead of fighting back he self destructs. As he gets older and more and more players are younger than him, this will become a very big problem.

I consider 1995-1999 players as the Current/Now Generation (who, unfortunately, are turning into another Lost Generation). These 23-27 year old players should've taken over by 2018-2019.

So, Kyrgios barely in next gen then.
Yeah a five year span seems right.
