As the title suggests, what is YOUR string of the year?

I’ve been testing a few strings this year to mix it up and so far Gosen AK Pro CX has been my favorite. Definitely a powerhouse of a string with good bite on the ball. Did not think I would enjoy a synthetic gut as much as I did.

I’m looking forward to trying Tourna S7T and Solinco Confidential to see what they bring to the table.

For me, Volkl V-Square 16 with Diadem Flash or Tier1 Ghostwire 16L crosses. It plays amazingly soft, huge spin potential, just the right amount of power, and very long playability.

I like that 1.27 mm gauge it comes in, that's a versatile girth. I may try a pack or two next time I resupply.

I have some KMP Rough sets to try. It's a smoothed spiral "rough" pattern; looks like it won't chew mains and could also be win.

Yes me too. CF 17L have one of the lowest stiffness numbers in TWU string database, and plays very arm friendly. However it feels crisp, and have a sensation feel when freshly strung. Alu have some magic, but CF comes close. I am testing a lot of strings and CF in my reference string.

Just strung up Firestorm 1.20 and trying it for the first time tonight, exited about what I read of this string here - however it has to compete with Cyber Flash 1.20 in a matched frame at same tension, 3'rd matched TC95 18x20 frame is strung with Alu 1.15 (great string too).

Strings I always have somewhere in rotation this year:

Poly Tour Pro...always solid. Graphite color has good tension maintenance and feel.
Max power/rough - good in NG hybrid. Excellent tension maintenance.
Klip Legend NG - hybrid mains
Velocity ...havn't fully figured this one out yet.

Strings I am interested in trying:

-Tier one string lineup particularly black knight and ghost wire.
-Head Lynx Tour
-Vokyl Cyclone Tour
-Luxilon 4g in a NG Hybrid or 4g soft
-Solinco Confidential and Revolution
-I'd like to try X-one biphase or similar premium multi as a main to Hybrid with.

I restring my own rackets so I don’t play until it until it breaks so I can’t speak to the durability. But it holds its tension quite well. It’s a unique string. And not that expensive. I’d try it out.

Yonex Poly Tour Pro has been my revelation so far. Flash yellow with excellent spin and power. Had it in for ten weeks with good tension maintenance so far.

Fees good too but I think I’m about ~10-12 or so hours into a hybrid with it in the crosses, and I’ve definitely got a smoothed spiral-feeling string in patchy places now. Hmm. And I was initially worried that it would saw into the natural gut, heh.

So many strings that sound appealing in one way or another... trying to narrow down what I’m up for trying, thinking I’m close to finding one that’s good enough. Eliminated at least a few candidates. Still have four on my list - uh TierOne Black Knight, Tourna Big Hitter Silver 7 Tour, for shaped; Kirschbaum Max Power and... possibly Isospeed Cream..? for round.

I'm a big fan of Lynx, and for me, still the most comfortable co-poly on the market. Is Lynx Edge similar in feel but with better spin? I was considering trying a hybrid of Lynx Edge mains and regular Lynx on crosses to see if it might give better bite. Interested to hear your comments.

yeah youre correct on all counts. lynx edge feels a lot like normal lynx but better bite. only downside is that it doesnt last long.

That's a good enough endorsement for me, thanks! Since I cut out full bed poly at 10-12 hours anyway, I'm less concerned about it not lasting as long.

I like Tour Bite as well. Was my string of choice when I played competitively in college. Switched only because of a case of golfers elbow.
