Wim 10 best matches was a little lesser than Wim 07/Wim 08.
Wim 11 would be an absolute joke considering Djokovic made mincemeat out of him in the final. (Wim 06 final was actually a little better perf than Wim 11 final, even if Wim 11 was better pre-final)
didn't play at Wim in 09.
Wim 07 final ~ Wim 08 QF ~ Wim 08 final.

09 - no, he'd lose. Nadal's confidence was shot after RG loss to Sod. He'd need to be at his best to beat 09 Wim fed. He wasn't.
10 - sure, fed was crappy.
11 - could go either way. Nadal got pumelled by Djoko in the final.

Fed was something like 46-7 on HC and nadal 33-11.
fed was better at AO and USO.
nadal beat below par fed in straights at Miami in 11 and fed returned the favour vs a below par Nadal even more strongly at YEC 11 with 6-3,6-0.
their matches on clay were well-contested - Madrid 11/RG 11.

Nadal got plain beat by Sod in RG 09. mental confidence was shot. saw the Wim draw of Hewitt/Roddick/Murray/Fed. combination of both meant he withdrew.
it wasn't just the matchup. Nadal had to be at his best to beat Fed at Wim 08/AO 09. he wouldn't be at Wim 09 after the sod loss (assuming he even got throw the tough draw of Hewitt/Roddick/Murray)

It’s about match ups as well more than results, I still think any surface Nadal had the game to beat Fed in those yrs regardless of there overall HC record etc. But I do see your point of of view on it I think it’s less about that and more about H2H at that time you see in 2011 was about Nadal and Djoker Fed was 3rd to both look at the sunshine swing etc

nadal could beat fed at Wim 11. I'm not saying he couldn't. I'm saying I wouldn't be sure of it. I'm saying it could go either way given their clay matches at Madrid 11 and RG 11 were well contested and nadal got pumelled by Djoker in Wim 11 final.
Fed was 3rd best because nadal was clearly better on clay.
HC fed was clearly better in 11.
got djoker to the brink in USO unlike nadal struggling to take a set.
and obviously fed was 2nd best to Djoker at AO.
what about sunshine swing? both similar at IW.
nadal was better at Miami.
but fed was better at AO, USO and post USO HC season.
neither of them good in Canada/Cincy, so not that relevant.
