I'm disappointed that Camila Giorgi played so poorly in the championship match, particularly in the 1st set, but Jessica Pegula is a deserving 2019 Citi Open tournament winner, her first-ever WTA title. She's played very well over the last few months, and Pegula will be pushing the top 50 in next week's rankings, a new career high by about 20 spots.

Giorgi should feel good about playing well in her matches prior to the final, and getting her season on track after her injury issues earlier this year.

This is the saddest trophy I’ve ever seen. Step your game up, DC.

Jessica Pegula winning the D.C. singles title I think was her breakout tournament into possible stardom in the WTA!

Donna. Vekic turn out to be a top touring player! She is ranked 25 currently! Probably after San Jose, close to top 20!
DV is losing 80 points from last year so the live ranking actually has her at 27 right now. Carla SN is moving up four slots to #25. DV can regain the slot at 25 if she wins her QF match and CSN loses in the QF

Donna V ended up as #24 in the official ranking today. Carla SN ended up moving back down and Julia Goerges dropped down a spot as well. Carla and Julia probably lost some Montréal points they had from last year. Don't think that Donna has any Montréal points to defend

Some handshake from Sabalenka there to Zheng....

Amanda Anisimova did better in that department. Even though she appeared to not be feeling very well and was greatly disappointed that she could not close out the second set, Amanda insisted on giving Saisai a nice congratulatory hug at the end of their QF match

I know that Maria Sakkari was pretty annoyed with Saisai moon-balling tactics in their SF match. I'm wondering if her postmatch handshake was any better than Aryna's drive-by.

That was a match she should not have lost. Kinda mad at the moment.

Whatever was bothering Amanda Anisimova in her QF match against Zheng seems to continues to be a problem. Thought that it might possibly have been a bad case of that monthly female thing but now I'm not so sure about that. She's pulled out of the Roger's Cup tournament. She was scheduled to play Aryna Sabalenka today in Toronto. Amanda has previously faced Aryna twice and beaten her both times.

Hope she recovers soon to play Cincy or whatever she's to committed to
