I believe in legal terms it's been deemed "The Kyrgios Clause."
I don't think the service is the issue. It's disrespecting there product that you are paid to represent. I am sure all of the racket manufactures shake there heads when they see one of there players there are paying to endorse them smashing the hell out of the product they are trying to sell to the public. Come to think of it....I think its a good ideal.Bizarre. Just let them pay for the service if that's an issue, but a fine? Lol
I could never smash a Yonex. Ever.If true then it is great. Yonex frames are too beautiful and well made to smash indiscriminately.
I hope the penalty clause is severe.
Overheard the commentator during Rafa and Zverev match about this as well. Was mentioned that most racquet companies used to write personal letters to their sponsored players if they saw excessive smashes and racquet breakage up until few years ago. Now Yonex will take a chunk off contract money each time they do a violent racquet smash. Started to be in effect late last year.
Interesting. I'm not so sure about my DR98s being that fragile in all honesty. About the same as my APDs. Maybe thinner beam ones (VCORE Tour/Duel etc). Not trying and checking any time soon thoughYonexes are so fragile you don't really need to do a ''violent smash''. A simple polite tapping to the court is usually sufficient to shatter them.

Which models, out of curiosity? Have never had such an experience with my Yonexs. In fact, I think they are better in build quality than other mainstream racquet manufacturers any day of the week. Depends on individual experience I guess.Models may vary. All I know is that of all racquets Ive ever owned, only Yonexes crack from a simple bounce against the court. Two different frames cracked this way (different Yonex models). Never had an issue doing it with any other frame.

Yep, V Core 95D - roughly 12oz strung with OG. Discontinued now.Cant remember the model names…One is the one in this pic (at least the store model of what his paint job is). The other would've been something similar. I usually use 12oz + frames.

The aforementioned frames and their atrociously square shape were the reasons for the breakage. That is why they became round over the years. I played with a VCore Tour 97 which came a year after Shaolin's VCore, but never had breakage problems despite being rough on them and stringing it at a rather high tension on a constant pull machine.First composite frame that I cracked, R-22 on a forehand. The VS gut was a week old, the frame just over a year. I had a pair of RQ-500 break on 75 mph 2nd serves.
The frames were considered ,fragile but sweet playing as the squared off head sets up different reactions to external compression forces.
Yonex writes the clause, lets it be known to the public, enforces it as little as they please. Win for everybody.
I would advise all rackets companies add a clause that the smashed frame must be given to a spectator or signed & donated to charity.

Broke a 95d in the bag and a rdis 200 on a shank

i've heard stories like that from parents of jrs who had been sponsored by yonex. they said the frames usually break at the "corners" my own experience is a bit different. i slipped playing indoors (on ball fuzz) one winter and i forgot to drop my brand new xl tour and i came down with all my weight racquet first and drove it headfirst into the court. the only damage done was a scrape in the paint on the side of the frame where it hit the court.
Is that +5"?! I feel a certain compulsion to hit with that thing and compare it with my Bubba 137 (which is +2")Square is weaker than round, but triangular is stronger than both which is why we should all be using Dunlop Max Predator Superlong right?
A compromise, not a flaw. That's what I thought, but I forgot so I didn't mention it. They consistently break at the corners, which indicates a structural design flaw.

BITD, smashing a Yonex was not necessary. The racquets fractured on their own.I could never smash a Yonex. Ever.
Clearly, we should. It even says +5.00 (NTRP) on the bag. It must be great! The only way it gets better is by making it an actual triangle, preferably equilateral.
No, it's a specifically (and brilliantly) designed flaw. The "sweetspot" is larger, but the racket breaks faster. This guarantees the fact that it'll be good enough to keep bringing you back to them, but structurally unsound so that you can't sit on the same racket for 10+ years through god knows how many string jobs like I've been trying to do.
oh crap, forgot about that....A compromise, not a flaw.
The mandatory 2 pc top down crosses ~4 pounds less than mains allows for the response off of the string bed. Fail to follow those rules, frame breaks. I find the heavier frames to naturally be more robust.
That's amazing. I totally believe you. But I've never had a racquet of any brand break on me other than the Head Zebra MP I smashed intentionally (which was dumb and embarrassing behavior on the court). Wilson, Yonex, Head, Babs. All have held up with little more than scrapes and dings. Even occasionally smacking them against the court digging for a drop volley.
Dude? You just went on that Zebra bender like, 6 months ago! You smashed one???? :0
Haha. Well, I still have my Zebras and I love them, but the same thing happened with them as happened with the RD-7 and RF97. I had a ton of fun playing with them, but I just play better with my Prestige mids. It's fun to have them around, though. I take them out to mix it up sometimes.
The smashing incident had nothing to do with the racquet, though. I was just having a crappy day and then I was playing like garbage. At one point my brain broke and I just smashed the Zebra I was playing with. First time I've ever smashed a racquet. I was super embarrassed.

Krygios better get deep in to the tournaments since he seems to get out of control of his feels 1 out of 5 tournaments to make up for the fines he has to pay!I believe in legal terms it's been deemed "The Kyrgios Clause."
