Today we got ourselves the fastest goal in Europa League history. Jan Sykora scored for Liberec against Qarabag away after only 10,9 seconds. Never heard of any of those names, but the assist provider for the goal is well known though - Milan Baros.

Held it together well when Chelsea got it back to 2-1, although they never looked like doing much even though they scored. Good first half performance from Liverpool.

To use a Liverpool expression. That was ****ing boss. Well done lads!

But Chelsea are still title contenders and nailed on top 4, right? :p

Geez that was ugly, could possibly be our worst performance this calendar year. And that's saying something!

City running away with it already? :)

From what I remember they started the previous season with several wins as well but barely got to Champions League in the end, that should be a good lesson for them.

haha of course. It would be rude for me to expect anything less, although it is not looking good. That is just going by last night. I don't watch much Chelsea, but you summed up what I was thinking. Ugly. Would be hard to be play much worse.

It's been the same this season as we had last year. We came back to win the first two games, but recently we've reverted back to what we've been the last 20 months. We seem to have a mixture of incredibly skilful players, a few tanks with a turning radius to match, but no footballers who know the art of winning games of football (Terry aside and he's 74).

I said when Mourinho won the title with this lot that it was an incredible, under appreciated feat. He had a good go at trying install some effectiveness to their highly skilled abilities, and we saw how they reacted to his efforts... They started a clear out of the management team after that, it really should of been the players themselves who payed for it.

I'd rather see a bunch of hard working journeymen of average skill fight for 8th than these lot with all the skill in the world meander all season and finish 6th/7th.

Rant over

Yeah, when you use the wallet to build a team sometimes you run the risk of it not having a soul. All most of these players are is mercenaries. Then sometimes magic happens, and a team of journeymen like you said really click, and they become a great team with soul. But nowadays it's mostly the former.

I'd rather wait for May to see who is the EPL God. ;)

I hope we are waiting until May, unless United go on a glorious run. Just have to see how City do when the going gets tough. Right now they are on fire.

I'm not sure about Liverpool. I was thinking there was reason to be optimistic before the season began. Mainly because they have Klopp from the beginning. Not sure if they can challenge for the title yet.

Teams in the Premier League are hardly ever on fire for too long. I am sure there will be twists.

Liverpool seem to find the big games easier to win, they are a weird case.

Yeah, long way to go, but I am impressed.

Just saw an article on Sky Sports, this is Pep best ever start. 8 games in total, 8 wins, 25 scored and 4 conceded.

Mental weakness apparently that's Man Utd's problem. His go-to excuse you could say.

A bad case of outplayeditis, nothing to do with signing an attacking midfielder for 100 million then playing him as a defensive midfielder to accommodate a long time past it striker, lucky it was just 3-1 to be honest. So much for being such a special manager.

Although playing out of position one can still do well, stats about James Milner before Pogba signed having equal or better stats. But he's another man playing out of position, and absolutely owning it at left back.

Kind of suspected it before and recent weeks have only reinforced my belief that City are going to walk it this season, hopefully Liverpool can push them close though.

A bad case of outplayeditis lol Very good. Wont even take 3 years for him to leave this time, right? And he is such a special manager. None of those trophies were just handed to him. Rome not built in one day, etc. He can prove his greatness at United. Not ready to hang him yet.

Woeful performance against Watford, though, of course they deserved it since they won, but I don' t think we would have deserved a draw, so I feel like it was a fair result.

Finally getting on the Rooney out bandwagon. He offers nothing apart from his name right now.

BT sports studio was funny. They have signed Paul Scholes up to torture him. :p

Who knows frankly, he has been a very good manager though. Signs of losing his way a bit though in recent times. His love affair with Rooney going back to when he wanted to sign him for Chelsea when he was already past it then signs that his judgement maybe isn't what it was. But yeah, obviously far too early to judge yet.

Yeah indeed, personally think he's been past it for a while, reckon that's why Fergie was looking at getting rid of him in his last season.

I've heard Mourinho is rubbing a few of the players up the wrong way and both he and his family are struggling to settle in Manchester. Probably mostly paper talk and it doesn't come as a surprise to me, they hyped his arrival up so much in the summer, now the season has started they're desperate for him to fail! It was the same both times at Chelsea.

It's a little concerning things haven't really started well though, he's always got off to a flier with his previous clubs.

Mutiny in the dressing room, allegedly. Mourinho hates wingers and younglings. Now the league cup match later becomes the most important match of the season.

Yeah well I have suspected for a while that his powers are on the wane. Think his time at Madrid has affected him, even though he had a good first two seasons at Chelsea he seemed a bit more unhinged this time round. Last season it all blew up and this season hasn't started perfectly for him. One difference is he used to say ridiculous things to take the pressure off his players, now he's roasting them in public. Change of tactic and doesn't tend to be very effective most of the time unless it's used sparingly.

Lucky it's Northampton, do well to lose to them, although I do remember a certain ex-England manager losing against Northampton in Round 3 of the League cup. Didn't turn out too well for him.

Don't think he had access to this though.

That's why I was concerned about his appointment. Even if it had gone well for a year or two (and it still might), very often the mess left behind takes years to get back to some level of normality.

This was a chance for Man Utd to work towards getting back to what they were, whatever short term success they have will be offset in the years after imo.

Hopefully Rooney isn't on tonight, no doubt he will assist a couple and keep his place in the team for the rest of the season. Not that he can ever be dropped anyway.

What does this guy have hanging over people? What the hell? Even Red Nev is getting in on the protecting Wayne act.

Almost perfect weekend, if not for the Ronald Koeman revolution continuing. Everton for the title.

Yep that's quite annoying if I'm honest. Here's hoping they fade away as soon as it gets tougher (although Norwich at home yesterday shouldn't be considered a tough game;)). You haven't won a trophy you haven't won a trophy you haven't won a trophyyy since 1995.:D

Enjoy that mate? Pretty good performance, nice to see. Crowd sounded in good voice.

Yes mate, was brilliant. Proper away day that, ground was decent as well and close to the train station. Some lads near us set off pyro after each goal, great scenes. Mate took this pic (right after the third goal I think).

Hoping for Preston or Leeds away now or Man United at home (if they manage to scrape through Northampton that is ;)).

Oh forgot to add, Derbys home support was non existent, besides the Gerrard song (you know which one) and the sign on rubbish, they had absolutely nothing.

Guess what.

Nine changes in the starting line-up...

Looks good man, yeah must say I could mostly only hear the Liverpool fans on the stream I was watching, Not in the best of form by the looks of things Derby so guess the mood isn't that good. Never changing last night of course.

Looking like an if at the moment, 1-1 at half time. Notice last time Northampton were in the third round they knocked out Hodg's Liverpool on pens. Imagine if that happens tonight..... Looks a fairly strong Man Utd side that he'd put out too.

Didn't get your wish it seems.

Hear on Match of the Day last weekend? Trevor Sinclair was saying he should play but as a holding midfielder, because his passing is good. These people get paid for this, unbelievable really.

Oh well, let's see if Barca can beat Atletico and close the gap.

I didn't see any match of the day last weekend. I've been hearing that a lot, though, because Rooney can pass the ball, let us put him in these different positions just to get him in. Next week the wing back position will suit him because of reasons I can't understand.

Well yeah if you can score against Northampton then you truly are a special player.

haha Come on. His record is pretty impressive. Not the fact that he scored a goal against Northampton, but the fact he has scored on a lot of his 'debuts'. Of course, you already know this and are just having a laugh.

To quote Mr. Keegan again. I would love it if Rashford starts on Saturday and Rooney is on the bench. Then Rashford actually scores in that game. In theory, it would be a kick up the ass for Wayne since he always seems to be selected without doing anything. Again, I could be wrong and we just end up switching Wayne to the role he was born to play. Rooney > Xabi Alonso. If it is good enough for Trevor Sinclair then it is good enough for me.

Scored a brace on his Europa League and club debut, a brace against Arsenal on his Premier League debut, a decisive goal against City away on his Manchester derby debut, a goal inside 3 minutes on his England debut, a hat trick on his England U-21 debut, on his EFL Cup debut, while adding another 3 decisive goals for Man United in the Premier League and the FA Cup - all that in 6 months as an 18 year old.

Yes, a truly special player.

Yeah it's a very good record. He's obviously a promising player, think people are going a bit overboard with him. But then he is English, and he plays for Man Utd. Those two factors do tend to grease the wheels of the hype train.

Must be making it quite hard to leave him out I suppose but I wouldn't hold your breathe on Rooney being dropped, wonder if he just hires private detectives to dig up dirt on his managers so he never gets dropped. Mourinho was going on before the season started about Rooney being a forward not a midfielder now he's playing him in midfield just to shoehorn him in. Definitely think taking him out would go a long way toward sorting out Man Utd's problems at the moment. But from a personal point of view, long may he stay in. Shoehorn him in as centre-back.

Manc Derby up next pretty good draw overall I'd say. They have now got a pretty tough October schedule United, think it's Chelsea then us then City, sink or swim for Maureen. West Ham Chelsea should be good as well, although West ham has been pretty terrible thus far, barely scraped through the mighty Accrington stanley, looks like their fans are pretty disappointed with the new ground (surprise, surprise!!)

Wha do you think about Liverpool Spurs? Obviously could have been easier but I'm pretty happy with it being at home (should have won at their ground mind) plus they've also got the CL to worry about, lost to Monaco the opening game, league cup should probably be the last of their priorities. hopefully they play a weakened side, though ive got no doubt that we can soundly beat even their best xi the way we're playing at the moment.

It is MNF against Liverpool (away) on October 17th, followed by Fenerbache (home) on 20th, followed by Chelsea (away) on 23rd, followed by Man City on the 25th (home). Tough.

Yes, will see where our season is going at the end of those fixtures.

Still planning on going to the home game against Liverpool. Not stopping believing just yet. :p
