I mean Team Europe and Team World? Really, the concept of Laver Cup seems to condescend by equaling Europe with World especially considering Rod Laver is an Australian.

Sign of the times, unfortunately. European players currently dominate tennis (every single member of the top 10 is from Europe) so in order to find a team with any chance of opposing them they have to cobble together the best players from anywhere outside Europe that they can get them. Even then, you can see what an uphill task it is to get any team together that can take on the mighty Europeans!
I find it rather good so far. Whats suprising is its not been treated like an exhibition as every match has been hard fought. Its great for our sport and it tops the 02 in London by a mile.
It seems more like iptl to me with less circus atmosphere.
Borg looks uncomfortabe

What about Team Established vs Team Young? So in this way, young promising generation might grasp a few opportunities to learn from top players and will be good for the future tennis.Wel...... Its 1-7 Europe leading so far, so.......
(What did u want US vs Europe? Oh the massacre........)

This and the WTF are completely different concepts and tournaments. There's no comparison.I find it rather good so far. Whats suprising is its not been treated like an exhibition as every match has been hard fought. Its great for our sport and it tops the 02 in London by a mile.

There's no comparison because one if a meaningless exo and the other is the fifth most important tournament in tennis. It's like people here actually think the Laver Cup counts for something other than millions into the coffers of the players. This and the WTF are completely different concepts and tournaments. There's no comparison.
But do you really believe this? It seems like the matches are almost set up. First non-close match was Fed winning today. It's like the Fed Nadal exhibitions of the past, everything automatically is going to 3 sets to give the fans more tennis.
So how would you change it, France & Spain v Rest of the World?Teams are very unfair.
how about borg and mac draft whoever they want? Mc literally could not pick a top 10 player for his team.So how would you change it, France & Spain v Rest of the World?
May get worse when Djoker and Stan returnhow about borg and mac draft whoever they want? Mc literally could not pick a top 10 player for his team.
I like this Euro/World team set up, but it need changes when Europe is so far ahead.
So Federer went to Rod Laver to create an event where the Team World players agreed to not win any matches and put up half-hearted efforts.

Another idea: the Captains should each have to play in one match. It should be team Rafa vs team Roger with a draft and multiple surfaces put down.
An 18 pt super tie-break?Another idea: the Captains should each have to play in one match.

Borg is known as super calm and collected person.True, what I looked the berdy kyrgios, borg looked almost bored and did nothing to cheer berdy or to show any interest to the whole thing..

I remember him saying that at this point of his life he is not interested in tennis as much as some of other former greats. Maybe that's why he looks bored and uncomortable.
I think it's money. He has (so to say) some difficulty with his personal finances. My next question is, wrf is he doing there then if he is so effing MEH about whole tennis. It's not like there were not any other All time greats to coach Team Europe..

The only thing that bothers me is Shapovalov playing it. He will have plenty of time to play exos later in his career.
but hey it's still nice exo let's not be too critical.
I do.
This Fedal teamup is as cringeworthy as anything ive ever seen in any sport.
No RaonicMoney it is..
I'm not critical at all, actually I like the whole concept and even though it's exho all the matches have been quite competitive and serious.
Regarding Shapo, the money is answer there as well. Team8/Organisers taking full benefit of recent Shapo-mania, and Shapo sure as hell was not saying no when Fed asked him to join with them
I'll admit to being skeptical about all this, sounded more like an exho than anything else. However, I've caught glimpses of a few matches since yesterday and I'm pleasantly surprised, looks like players actually care a bit. I'm a fan of indoor tennis, so it's easy for me to like. Also, anyone else really like the dark black court color? I find it's different and looks pretty nice. Had Novak, Andy and Stan been healthy, I wonder if they would've participated? We might see Nadal/Federer play doubles tomorrow, would also love to see Djokovic/Federer playing doubles maybe next year? The only knock I got on the event is that much of it's interest comes from the fact that Federer/Nadal are there, once they are retired, will the event survive? Not convinced.
