Dimitrov played well today but Sock could have won this. Dimitrov was much more steady and played better throughout the match, and deserved the victory. I still want to Goffin to win this because after beating Fedal, he has showed he has what it takes and deserved this title. I hope he brings it tomorrow.

This is the most talented American player I have seen since the Pete and Andre days. Natural talent levels are off the charts. American tennis needs to get this guy a super coach and do what it takes to get him mentally and physically in there. He goes walkabouts like that against better players and it wouldn't even be competitive.
Man I haven't seen that combination of trickery and hard hitting in a player for a while. Some players have one of them, some players ball bash and have the occasional flashy hollywood shot, but Sock has both trickery, variety and power. This raw talent is geniuinely exciting to watch.

I have a feeling he'll do fine. He might not win, but it's not like his chances are comparable to the very slim ones he had today. Lots of nerves on display for both tomorrow as well. Could change the whole dynamic.

Tournament was good before these matches. Most of the reason behind people saying it sucked was because it looked like a cakewalk for Federer. Federer's exit has made this "interesting" because of unpredictability now.

Unpredictably isn't necessarily good. PCB vs Thiem was close but it was a low quality match for this level. Fed vs Goffin was unpredictable because Fed was playing so poorly. Cilic flattered to deceive as usual. Socks matches have been the best.

Sock could've won if he didn't tank the 2nd set and risk playing a 3rd set. Also very poor game at 3-4; two double faults and a bad volley, which should have been a game point. Lastly, he missed his chances to get back into the match by missing that easy BH.

I've just heard the score. I'm so happy for him. The chin could learn something from Grigor Dimitrov, you know. He's a cracking little player, he didn't always give it a real go, for a long time, he was stuck in Zombie mode like the rest of the PDC. Now he is giving it a good go. And full credit to David Graf as well. It is going to be a great final, a real dust up. Can't wait.

He was clearly gassed out in the 3rd. Still a great end to the year. Important thing is he isnt injured, which means that he should have a good training bloc for next year

Yes and poor first game of the 3rd set where he had break point, second serve and a forehand return which he did nothing with. He just imploded with those double faults and that just shows mental weakness. Quite a few break points to break back at 3-5 and he didn't take them. All in all, Dimitrov was more steady and clutch and deserved the victory after Sock's poor play in key moments.

Agree. I'm just saying that Federer having what looked like a cakewalk is the main reason many people were saying the tournament sucked in recent days. If you watched the matches, a lot of them while maybe not the highest of quality, went 3 sets which shows two pretty evenly matched players usually.
From what I'm reading, this match was entertaining. Every match except one of Fed's went 3 sets. Sock-Cilic was good. Thiem-Dimitrov, again at least passable. Better than a few of the recent years where Djokovic and Federer walked over everyone on their way to a final where Federer was either injured (2014) or played terrible (2015).
