The funny part is that Thiem still has a good chance to qualify for the SF even if he loses today. All he needs to do is beat an injured Goffin and count on Dimitrov to beat Carreno.

Yes, and Puerta replaced Roddick if I'm not wrong.

My country had 4 players in that tournament: Nalbandian - Gaudio - Coria and Puerta. That was unbelievable.

Truly unbelievable! I think this is the second year in a row we have 8 players from 8 differente countries. I don't think even the US had that many players in a few edition, did they?

I can only tell you I had the best time with the argentines last year at the Olympics as I was cheering for Delpo both on the SF and the F!
As a fellow south american I admire the history you guys have on this sport.

I don't think I can ever be comfortable with that Thiem fist pump...that thumb placement is just too awkward for me.

Wait wasn't that 2005?

Yeah, that was the year we were talking about hehe.

It's cause I asked before if an alternate made to the SF (Simon in '08 and Nalbandian in '05 played all three matches) but I asked the wrong way: I'm wondering if any player qualified with only two matches being played, like Carreno can do this year.

Still can never be as weird as Berdych wearing shoes with Djokovic's face on them

preview.jpg

You could tell that someone had mentioned this and it upset Tomas because he started wearing this shoes with the tongues cut so that Djokovic's face was no longer there. Also in one tournament he used tapes covering the face but the tape wore off and you could see that Djokovic's face was still there  It would have been frustrating for Berdych but he must have really liked that lighter version of the shoe.

Nalbandian in '05 was epic - an alternate winning the whole thing

Thiem wins in 3 sets, as predicted. Giving his fans the usual rollercoaster ride along the way. Now the favourite to finish 2nd in the group, with an out of sorts Goffin up next.

Great fight from PCB despite being outgunned in every department on paper. Baby Ferrer eventually loses to Baby Wawrinka

I didn't know that you were from Brasil, I mean, I thought that because of your name but then I thought that maybe for some reason you were a fan of the player luiz gustavo :eek:

And well, your country has also some great history in this sport thanks to Guga!

Phenomenal returning from Thiem in this match with 39% first return points won. Time for Thiem to figure what on earth is going on with the 2nd serve game; 70% in first set plummeting to 29% the last two sets.

As a non-South American, just wanted to say how much I love both these countries. Was in Rio for the FIFA WC a few years back and that was incredible experience. Also visited Argentina prior to that for the Gillette tennis exhibition & the people were/are amazing

obrigado a todos os meus amigos.

So winner of Thiem v Goffin gets to play Fed in the semis.

Looks like Thiem since Goffin seems to be carrying an injury?

Goodbye PCB, who is eliminated, we hardly knew ye.
