Another Fed vs Del Po

Every match between these two I can remember has been great, always awesome quality matches. with Del Po finally coming over some real hard backhands, you could consider me excited. Predictions? Will Del Po finally get his a M1000?

Even Djokodal fans would check the match out, they love seeing Fed lose.
You could see it today in the match thread, when Fed dropped the first set they started coming out of the woodwork. A couple I hadn't seen post in weeks :D

They're so desperate they appear after he loses a single set. Absolutely clamoring for a Fed loss. Imagine being that pathetic.

They’d been stalking the sidelines, pacing fiendishly; madmen. Door opened a crack, and the rabid, frothing-at-the-mouth hordes pounced. Only... the glass door presented a bridge too far. *SPLAT* Rejected. Again.

Fed did that on purpose to make money even from haters. That's why he tanked a few close matches versus peak Rafa and Nole too, to make era seem stronger.

He is a marketing genius and will collect the prize. How do you beat the haters? You make them watch you and pay you money. Fed has expenses, he needs the cash. So many twins in his family plus he has to ship them and his large team.

Is that why Trump doesn't play tennis with Federer, cuz Fed's hands are so larger?

There's been some easy matches for Roger: 2017 Miami (JMDP won just 7 games) and then 2012 IW when Del Po won only 5 games).

I think Fed is eager and ready and will beat Del Po in under 2 hours. Whether it'll be three sets or not depends on the weather. The forecast is for minimal wind, radically unlike today. In any case, Fed will win, IMO. I anticipate a lot of the lonely Nadal and Djoker fans to awaken from their hibernation and post endless trolling hate invective on the match thread. :p They'll all disappear into their dank closets once Fed pulls away.

It’s like groundhog day..they come out, see their shadow and go back in.. 2 more weeks of winter.. i.e. Fed is ruling the day.. :D

Do Fed or Djoker fans litter the Nadal match threads? If so, it's just as pathetic as the other way around. Can't imagine being so obviously pathetic. At least try to hide it.

Del Po’s amazing play over the last year or so after multiple surgeries on both wrists and getting much older shows how much tennis lost with him being out of the picture with injuries for the greater period since 2009.

I suspect he would easily have cracked the Big 3. Probably would have won more slams than Murray and Wawrinka. I suspect he would have owned the USO and maybe even made some noise in the AO.

Still, it’s great to see him winning again and tomorrow is gonna be a win win for me.

He is overrated for me. Yes if healthy he would be maybe another Becker or Edberg, but that's about it, no way he cracks the big 3. He would even be lucky to win 5-6 majors in this era.

Fed already escaped that random scary match in which he shouldve lost. Expecting a straightforward match tomorrow.

It's hard to win that much when you just do well on hard in such an era.

Besides, Murray is always better on grass.

Delpo has actually overtaken Cilic in the Race to London. He now officially has become the main challenger to Fed for YE#1, I guess. Finally, Delpo is healthy and has the chance to prove himself.

It’s not difficult to spot.

Deep hitting that keeps Fed pinned on the baseline is his vulnerability - you saw patches in the Chung match, and Coric came awfully close to pulling it off before Fed adjusted pace and angles with slicing, forcing him to go for it.

Delpo is one of the few hitters on tour that can hit deep for a full match. And he’s a veteran. If he’s kracking, Fed’s going to have another tough scrap on his hands.

Should be really interesting.

Federer was a bit fortunate to win Basle to be honest against Del Potro last year.

50/50 if you ask me given their respective court times maybe even Del Potro a small favourite.

Home Depot is one of two guys on tour that can make Fed appear ancient at times. The other being Cilic.

Fed cannot trade baseline groundstrokes with either. And when these two are kraking, he has no inroads to the net.

If it’s another windy day like yesterday, Fed can’t go for angles.

Against these two I’d say it’s more on their rackets then Fed’s. He needs to use all his guile and experience and sense of momentum to eke out the important points.

Love this matchup.

So only 1 of Del Po’s Wins v Fed has been outdoors and Fed was leading 2-1 in sets in that match. The rest of Del Po’s Wins have been played under the roof including last year’s USO match.

Among the number of reasons he’s GOAT, one of them is because inspite of the above he usually finds a way.

The focus he has to find the tiniest gaps in a match is legendary. People don’t nearly talk about this part enough.
