ive been watching tennis with fed for such a long time, this match i think made me realize that he isn't lasting past 2020

This Federer kid showed some incredible heart agianst a superior opponent. I don’t think this is the last we’ll see of this young man.

Let's get this thread to 38 pages so people think Federer lost.
Oh wait...

Probably the worst performance I've seen from Federer in his slam career...it's surely up there with the near tank-job at the 2013 US Open against LOLbredo.

I hate to write these guys off but Federer's time as a legit slam contender now look more limited than ever before :(

The dream is over. So much for Novak-Fed match.

Good for Millman with a muted celebration. Respect.

Commiserations to Fed fans. He will be back and he's come back from worse before. And he probably wins another UsOpen before he is done.

I'm not even sad lol, why are you

wanted Fed to get crushed in the quarters by Novak.

jk. Seriously prefer when he's in the mix to win a slam. I think the Fedovic matchup might be the best on tour, wondering if we'll see him in finals again. Think he always has a shot at AO and Wimby till proven otherwise though.

The only coming out of this - Fed saved himself from embarrassment in QF against Djokovic.

Still a lot of Tennis left him. But needs a lot of desire, hunger, efforts and of course Edberg.

I see people are trashing Millman and his entourage but you should look at Federer for the reason he lost, he clearly wasn't at the races sadly.

Wimbledon 2019 should be his last tournament. Don't bother with the US Open next year. Up to Djokovic to save tennis once again.

You guys are so obsessed with Nadal that with the inept new generation, Djokovic may as well overtake Federer and you won't be able to find a single hole in his resume.

Some people are in denial here. The guy didn’t want a match in the next round with Djokovic. You think he loses if sousa had upset Djokovic earlier? He would play tight but he actually would have won the match.

He would have been straight-set-ed anyway, I think.

Don't know what to say. Can't even blame the court or the conditions since Fed's been like this since IW this year. Think we should get accustomed to seeing these mental walkabouts with him now consistently throughout the remainder of the 1 or 2 years left now. :(

This is just too much nonsense, I hope you are joking though. Why on earth should a pathetic loss to Millman somehow be better than a potential loss to Djokovic? I don’t know in what state of mind a player must be if he preferes that.

Trolling aside, this is shocking.

I don’t think Federer tanked to avoid Djokovic but it surely lurked in the back of his mind that Djokovic could seriously embarrass him if they played.
