Adidas Solecourt Boost Official Thread

Yep. I unfortunately did that when I was younger, but I guess being young helped me recover pretty quickly. I would just keep playing on after rolling my ankle. It's so bad in my left ankle that my PT thought I had no ligament left! Also doesn't help I've managed to sprain my ankle in stiff snowboard boots too, just a sign of how weak my ankles are!
Totally get what you are saying. My brother in law played DI College tennis up until last year and he is an avid snowboarder as well. He almost always ends up hurting his ankle one way or the other even with those huge boots on top of the board. He wears Murray style ankle braces when playing tennis. Just this joint and ligament etc make this area prone for injuries for some I guess.

cushioning isn't the problem, it is the fit and design for me. Still the midfoot area feels like too big and roomy and shoe is very flat. .

Am beginning to think it's a strange shoe. Maybe caught between designs or ideas. Dunno. Anyway it's not the toebox is it (tho that is indeed rounded and open), but rather the mid-foot just doesn't hug.

I'm unsure if my foot is narrow, but confirm most Nike shoes fit me right, so did earlier Barricades (think I had 2,3,6), so I think I am prob narrow fit. SCB is flat and open and possibly/feels like it has zero stack height (heel to toe drop). Trying hard to like 'em but keep putting my ripped Barras back on...

I completely understand what you are saying. For me the toe box isn't that much of a problem since I have medium to wide feet, but the mid foot area, like you said, is. It does not hug like a glove leaving the mid foot area all the way to the toes sliding and moving inside. That and the whole flat and straigh sort of high riding feeling. Just not the fit and feedback I want, really.

And lol, I'm in exactly the same boat. Trying very hard to like my SCB and SMB but always find myself looking at my Barricades or other pairs (Propulse Fury, Vapors, Revolts etc). I am pretty sure there is going to be sad ending to the SCB/SMB story for me.

Just picked some SCB up. Black/red/lime CW.

Super plush, but even with a runner's knot they don't feel like they lock down the heel quite as well as my ancient Barricades. But to have this level of cushioning in a tennis shoe is new to me. Hitting in them tomorrow, my feet are already thanking me.

Same colour. Yep doing runner's knot too. To me they are boaty, flat, and lack breathability (am in Aus). Am trying with them... very trying...

Oh-oh. Have always assoc Adidas with quality. Would hate to think they are scrimping now. But I am looking over the fence too. I'm a runner too (5-15km) darn it shoes are important.

I read this trying to get some handle on cushioning and so on http://twu.tennis-warehouse.com/learning_center/cushioning.php

then looked at this (ignore idiot presenters)

I can only think that Boost with it's east quick compression and return of energy is good for the cadence and footfall of running, but for the runa dn lunge and stamp of tennis I am beginning to think that Boost aint enough, indeed earlier someone mentioned HD Boost is coming...

Put 2 hours each of singles and doubles through them so far, bit of a break in period for me with some mild blisters on the arches of my feet.
The heel just doesn't lock in like a glove, but as a whole the shoe fits snug. My foot doesn't slide about in the shoe but the slight lift in the heel doesn't fill me with confidence. It's more noticeable wearing them around the house than it is on the court though.

The stability is incredible. But at the same time they don't feel fast.

So on the fence so far!

Hmmm not feel fast, yep that's about right!

Try the runners knot up top (usinh the top two eyelets) to lock them more? The eyelets aren't really configuerd for the knot but it may help???? Just not sure you're gonna achieve that locked feel. This shoe is ... boaty!

Yeah I’ve got the runner’s knot going, but as you say still not getting that locked in feel. Boaty is pretty apt.

I think they’ll be comfortable enough once I’ve broken them in though.

On the plus side, once my foot is planted they make such a solid platform and I was hitting shots very confidently

Man, I keep getting blisters in my right arch where the plastic plates pokes in. There’s got to be a way for it to soften. Played over 7 hour shift in them already.

Seen a lot of complaints about this shoe but decided to take the plunge anyway and got two clay court pairs, one in my regular adidas size, one half a size smaller. If I hadn't tried on both sizes side by side I probably would have been happy with either, but the smaller size definitely fit better overall, perfect in both length and width. For reference I have a fairly narrow foot and wear thick socks. Didn't feel any discomfort when playing in them for this first time (about 2 hours), no break-in period for me. Very happy with them so far. I usually wear the Diadora Blushield Fly shoes on clay and the boost material seems to be a lot firmer than the Blushield. Will probably get an all court pair of the solecourt boosts at some point... those all white ones look pretty nice.

These shoes really did not work out for me. Way too wide and a mushy not connected feel to the court.

I am now with the gel res 7. Love them!
this shoe is made for cushioning. Thin connected feel to the court is for Young people who has no issues with knee or hips. but Boost is good for cushioning and also adding power to your steps so you don't need that connected feel. I am not sure why Tennis player needs connected feel with thin coushioning anyway......... in Tennis, that power 1st step is the most important step in movement and getting to the ball.

Also form this video, Boost seem to blow away flyknit tech.

I'm loving the SoleCourt Boosts. First shoe in ages I haven't had to put custom insoles into. Really great for clay courts as I can change directison easier and get that first step quicker. And they are far more durable than my Babolat SFX's.

Gel Res 7's are too narrow and the cushioning lasts nanoseconds.

For a wide foot, the Sole Court Boost is the best shoe I've tried. Far superior to Asics Gel Res 6 WIDE, Babolat SFX3, Various New Balance 2E shoes.

Mine are working well for me now. I wore two pairs of socks last night and had no issues at all. Taken around 10 hours but seems like they're fully broken in.
I really expected to have no break in with such a plush shoe!

I just got the Black/Orange colorway. I got them straight from Adidas since there was a bit of a wait to order on here. I'll be wearing them to my team's dual match this afternoon. From the initial feelings, I am glad I'm back on the Adidas train. These wrap around my foot similar to Barricades of old, B IIs, B IIIs, B IVs. It feels like my foot has more around it and that this shoe is more tank-like than the Vapor X that I did NOT enjoy.

I love this shoe. Im about 5hours in on mine and are perfect for my foot (medium/high arch, wide foot). I wear two socks and went true to size. I've been a long time user of the vapor series and never looking back again.

Tsonga also seem to be wearing a custom-made SoleCourt-SoleMatch Bounce hybrid shoes, look

I haven't seen that colourway anywhere either...

Yeah I was noticing that too. At a quick glance looks like SCB but with Bounce material instead of Boost. I shared a picture of Thiem from earlier this year wearing a similar custom setup as well.

My pair of SCB is about to lose good shape (holes at flexion points and sole wears out a bit ). So i've got a pair of Some match bounce in black/orange.

haqq777,

I've been playing with barricades since adidas decided to anchor the foot at the arch level (barricades 9 [2015] through barricades 12 [2018], they were the perfect shoe for the shape of my feet. SCB's were initially supposed to be the 13th generation for barricades see picture of the label on the tongue, but the shoe was such a departure from the previous generations, they had to rename it I suppose. In fact, I don't feel any anchoring at all with SCB's... perhaps the cause of your ankle injury? There's just no feel-to-the-court because of the boost, no wonder pro-players are getting custom-made shoes. But why can't they make'em for the public at large?

Yes, I agree with you on all counts. The SCB are a little too squishy and lack that direct feel and connection with ground that I want most of the time. Also that anchor feeling you mentioned is missing.

My ankle has since gotten back to 100% but I unfortunately hurt my knee (unrelated to tennis) and had a surgery done week and a half ago. Ironically I think SCB would be the best shoe for me right now as I ease my way back into tennis a few weeks from now. Comfort and cushioning is second to none on those.

But that said, I loved the last gen Barricades that came with Boost (just the heel area). It was enough amount of Boost for a very comfortable ride, yet retaining feel and connection. With SCB, the extra Boost kind of makes it a little less responsive and with the fit, feels very cumbersome as well. For most rec players the comfort and softness is a good thing but for those seeking more responsive feedback, the pair is a miss in my opinion. A couple of guys I know that used SCB switched to Asics and K-Swiss brand. Don't think anyone re-ordered their SCB.

One of my SCB pair is this Parley you posted a pic of. Great color by the way.

I'm currently playing alternatively with non-boost gen. 9 through gen 12 which are essentially the same shoe. I've also grown quite fond of gen 2 ubersonics, no wonder adidas came-out with 2 more models this year, at 12.9 oz, it is the lightest high-end tennis shoe they make.

Anyone else starting to get wear on the cuff of the shoe? I can't have more than 50-70 hours on the shoe, and the cuff is already showing the exposed structure.

I’ve had the white Parley ones for a few months now and they are the best shoes I’ve tried in a while! Durability of the sole and upper is great, I think I will get six months out them easily.

Out of the box the fit was good, and the roomy upper was nice for my wider feet. I had some discomfort with the arches being too high and toward in the shoe, but after I put my insoles in that problem went away. The only thing keeping them from being perfect for me is the heel lockdown, but that’s more from my insole slightly raising my foot than the shoe itself. Has anyone used an insole where heel lockdown isn’t affected?

Anyone else have issues with Solecourt boosts having no ventilation? The midfoot/forefoot area are wrapped with no ventilation whatsoever, so it got hot fast even before I started playing in them

Nope. I've never really noticed hot vs cool shoes. Though the stank from my shoes is telling me they don't vent well lol

I followed your advice on sizing and u were 100% right!
My problem is the arch is too high!Never felt this before. Is there a solution to this or should I return them?
After 9 months since starting to play tennis, finding the right shoes is proving the hardest part.....

Is the high aarch problem solvable???
It hurt my foot after 5 minutes of trying them on inside my house....
Would breaking them in improve this?

You will get used to them if you have an arch in your foot. Otherwise just buy replacement insoles.

Two pairs of socks solves any arch issues for me. Mine are fully broken in but I’ll still get some blisters on my arches if I don’t wear two pairs of socks.

Shame because they feel great and would prefer to not wear double socks!

These shoes are great. Lots of talk of them running big, but I ended up in my actual size. That said, I was trying to go as big as possible to avoid aggravating a corn on my pinky toe.

I did find them to provide almost too much pressure/support around the ankles at first, but they’ve loosened up now.

Oh boy, I had a few close calls before. But I finally rolled my ankle on these shoes hitting a running forehand to the right.

Landed and rolled over that stupid edge.
Was in crutches for half a week.
I’m moving to the nb lavs.

Sorry. FWIW, the Nike Cage 3 could be a good option. They run small though.

Sigh ... sad to read all these ankle problems with these shoes. I'm still looking for what shoes best to replace my Barricades. Just bring it back already. Even so, only the recent odd-numbered Barricades (5, 7) were a good fit for me, the others were too narrow.

Injured ankle usually takes some time to heal, but I hope you heal fast.

Look I've also learned to like these things - on hardcourt.

Double socks, a lot of lacing re-tries, good aftermarket insole - seem to be working - on hardcourt.

On artificial grass they feel boat-ish and slow, but they do have a place... still haven't faced summer yet, and I know they don't breathe.

Same for me - at the start a few close calls. Adjusted over time. But am playing with lower kneebend and flatter-ish footwork anyway.

(ps. I've played-thru a rolled ankle. Worst decision ever. Made it worse. Melon sized ankle. Feels like your playing in squish as it swells. Not recommended.)

Happened to me as well! Funny enough as soon as I switched to the FF2 Novak I realized how much the boost was slowing me down. I think it’s just too mushy and unstable to work for tennis. The Asics are slightly narrow for me but I put in the grey sole insole to get some more room.
