They don't know yet whether the damage is permanent but it's worrying. This is a disease people should avoid if they can.

Short of endurance events like marathon running, men's singles at slams maybe one of the most telling physical enDeavors so this is not good for Novák or any players affected.

i've been wearing masks starting the last week of February. This is the time of paranoid GermaFobes.

The Diamond Age is as allergic to viruses as it is winning slams.

We need to get them in a laboratory and study their antibodies.

It's that damn Melesian vaccine that both Zverev and Thiem have been relying on.

If Thiem wins Kitzbuel without dropping serve after tanking second week of US Open, he better thank @Meles in the acceptance speech.

Not interested in the views of a mindless fantatic, thanks.
Don't be so hard on yourself.
The fact that you can't comprehend that Djokovic literally has endangered lives and still feel compelled to defend him because he hits a tennis ball really well is embarrassing. He deserves every bit of the negativity coming his way, and more.
You're the one who has troubled comprehending anything. You probably believe that Djokovic build the stadium himself and was sitting in a booth selling tickets judging from what you're saying. I expressed my share of negativity towards his position, just like the vast majority of his fanbase, yet if someone doesn't want to put him in prison for life he's a mindless fanatic? You're too emotional to comment on the situation, as you change punishments every 5 min. And none of them have any basis in real life.

Didn't read, plus you're an overly emotional fanbot.LOL!

You're favorite player has justified every bit of criticism, dislike and hate aimed at him. Learn to deal with it.

My thoughts are many, and not sure how organized and coherent at the moment.

This has been a very sad period of time worldwide, and for many of us, sports is a great activity and a great release/pastime. Having no sports to play and to follow makes it even tougher - with health, financial and social and family crises mounting in so many ways. But this is first and foremost a health pandemic.

It's a very sad day-plus for tennis that anyone - fans, coaches, players alike - contracted this virus and may have spread it additionally to who knows how many. And it makes me sad and angry to see posters here celebrating that Djokovic (and his wife among others) tested positive.

I get it: Novak organized a tour that had few, if any, safeguards for players, other participants and fans. That part of the blame lies with him, as I voiced from the outset. It showed poor judgment, seemingly bolstered by his very strong - out of the mainstream - health and spiritual beliefs that have previously served him quite well.

Given the situation, I think his statement was okay, if not great. He did express that he was "extremely sorry..." I'm not saying that was necessarily enough, but what would be?

It would just be nice to see, more frequently, a higher level of class and empathy around here.
I think a lot of this is bad luck. The players appear to have caught this from someone in Croatia. For weeks the number of active cases in Croatia has been a scant seven or eight until a recent bump up to around 75. they've had soccer stadium for 20,000 people and no incident I believe.

I don't think in the long run Novak will get a lot of blame on the less the contact tracing comes back to one of his parties. The YouTube videos of these are of course edited to show all the craziest parts I am probably don't give a realistic picture. ultimately Novak's reputation will survive this.

With this incident I think full-blown paranoia will be the order of the day at the remaining tennis events for the year for right or for wrong. We could have some really boring sterile tennis coming our way.

It was so irresponsible by Nole and to the even organizers to let people behave as nothing has happened in the last months. The virus is still active and yet hugging shaking hand kissing dancing clubs.....very smart!!
I did not see this when there were a few weeks ago some tennis event in Florida!
I hope they all recover soon and this serve as lesson for the future.

I am just constantly amazed by the overwhelming fear this virus has caused. Yes you are at risk, but you are at risk of viruses and diseases and bacteria everyday you leave your house, not to mention car crash, crime, etc. The only difference is people psychologically feel that whatever they are exposed to modern medicine will heal. In this case because there is no known vaccine or definite cure, people are terrified.
has brought the world to it's knees in fear (through the media) People get sick sometimes, and will forever..

Well damn. Can't say I'm surprised but wishing Novak and his wife a speedy recovery. Glad the kids are negative and hopefully Novak will reflect a bit on what he did wrong.

So, go back 10+ years and Novak's an athlete with occasional breathing difficulties on court. Sure, that was supposedly all cleared up by changing his diet and dropping gluten but should you be 100% confident that Covid19 won't have any affect on him?

If I had it (and it's about 80/20 that my wife had it to little fanfare as a colleague came into her work having been tested positive and my wife developed mild symptoms typical of the virus soon after... which would suggest I've also been exposed and didn't have any symptoms I'm aware of) and it left just enough damage to my lungs to reduce my capacity to absorb oxygen when pushed then I'd probably never really know, given I'm advancing in years and will never be as fit again as I was in my teens. If the same has happened to Novak it might be enough to stop him ever winning any more slams.

Yeah, what next, people trying to convince me heart attacks are real? I mean, some people have so-called "heart attacks" and don't even feel them while others die instantly lol. And I'm supposed to just believe that's a thing?

Are strokes real?

Some people get strokes and just have a mild tingle on the side of their face and might not even realise they had a stroke.

While other peole get a stroke, get laid up in hospital for months, face complete paralysis, lose the ability to talk and their quality of life goes completely down the drain.

the stupidity of the way this event played out was a shocking to see.. the hugs and handshakes, the seats full of spectators, the partying at night clubs.. The us open and french open going through extraordinary measures to plan for a "safe" event while this nonsense was going on. i hope the press and optics don't squash the us open. the small tournaments that happened prior to Adria were sensible. this was an invitation to the virus. i never cared for novak much.. this won't win him the love he desperately craves

dude how can you fake a heart attack? and saying "I'm having a heart attack" is a common expression man

I can easily say that I have corona and no symptoms without even testing myself and people will believe me xD

You go back and forth between covid is nothing or it's so serious there will be no tennis until 2025. Which is it?
how does one negate the other, yes I believe there's a high probability it's made up but since I'm not certain I wouldn't organize a global event. I'm living my life as fully as possible but as an individual, I'm only risking my own health here

also it's like saying I don't believe in santa claus but give me those gifts in december maaaan

There are also the emotional aspects. Novak has unfairly been treated as a pariah by partisan Western crowds throughout his career. You can bet crowds are going to give him hell on the back of this.

I don't think people outside the most vulnerable age brackets are all that scared, in general. But we don't want to let the virus spread freely and overwhelm the healthcare system so we follow the bare minimum of safety protocols like wearing masks and keeping a 6-foot distance from people we don't come into regular contact with. The economic fallout of all this is terrifying, but the actual spread of the disease has been pretty well contained, compared to what it would look like if no one had ever taken any precautions whatsoever. Now THAT would be terrifying.

Perhaps all the fans had time travel machines and were booing in anticipation because no amount of booing from now on can make up for this monumental **** up by Djokovic. Deserves to be booed the rest of his career I say.

Absolutely idiotic. He should take full responsibility. While us here in Australia and New Zealand took full lockdown the number 1 tennis player helped organised a tennis exhibition tournament that has now resulted in at least 6+ cases of Covid. Irresponsible, the book should be thrown at them. Idiots, truly.

it's not so black and white.
apparently they keep the football championship with full stadiums, so why not tennis?
arguably there are less visitors in tennis.

and Novak didn't force everyone to visit.
People need to learn that they do bear responsibility for their decisions, can't blame Novak for everything.

Unfortunately, the more time goes by, the more doctors/scientists are discovering new and unique ways the virus harms the body. The fact that there isn’t more fear about it surprises me because doctors and scientists still don’t know what they are dealing with - that is the scary part. It’s not necessarily the death rate, it’s the lifelong afflictions, how it affects the immune system that is worrisome. For instance, half of the asymptomatic COVID+ people on the diamond cruise had lung damage, and now it’s being reported that the virus may jump start diabetes in healthy people. https://www.spectator.co.uk/article/How-can-‘test-and-trace’-stop-a-virus-spread-by-the-asymptomatic, https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/20...-term/?li_source=LI&li_medium=liftigniter-rhr. Remember when COVID+ kids seemed to be okay? Months later they developed toxic shock syndrome and Kawasaki disease- rare and abnormal afflictions. They were okay for months . . . until they weren’t.

Put it this way, hypothetically, what if HIV was this contagious? Would people have the same attitude? I think not, and before anyone says, “yeah, but this isn’t that” ... are we sure? Because as of today, the medical and scientific community don’t know what the virus is capable of or what it’s long term effects are. Remember when doctors thought it was respiratory illness? https://www.boston.com/news/coronav...source=spotim&utm_medium=spotim_recirculation. Turns out it’s a cardiovascular disease. https://elemental.medium.com/corona...isease-which-explains-everything-2c4032481ab2. See, it starts out as a respiratory illness and kills as a cardiovascular disease - and it can also be a gastrointestinal disease. And isn’t the list of symptoms 20 deep now? When they added pink eye I knew things were getting squirrelly... pink eye?

It’s likely to take years before we find out what the deal is with this new virus. Remember how long it took to figure out HIV? Having HIV isn’t the death sentence it once was, but taking an expensive cocktail of drugs daily wouldn’t be no big deal to me. We do know that the coronavirus invades major organs, so if it turns out that lifelong medications (with possible side effects) are needed to keep it at bay, I’m sure most people would regret being so flippant about it.

I don’t say this to terrify people. It’s ridiculous that there seems to be an all or nothing attitude about the virus - either people act like it doesn’t exist, or never leave the house and have a self contained air filtration system. Why can’t everyone just use caution? Leave the house to get the **** done you need to/go to work, but also wear masks and keep a safe distance from others. It’s like waiting for the walk symbol before crossing the street and still looking both ways before doing so. Most people don’t do either and they don’t get hit, but it’s a new day and being mindful will save lives.

Who’s they? Serbia? After they’ve handled this I’m not going to accept whatever position they thought was right. Here in australia we have only allowed 2,000 fans at a stadium in the last week and we’ve had 103 deaths. So don’t try to tell me that these countries had a decent approach to this.

And I’m not solely blaming Djokovic. Everyone involved should have the book thrown at them. Their selfish greed has cost the entire tennis tour to be (likely) canceled for the year.

You are boring me Fanbot.

As a person, right now I dislike Djokovic alot. I don't hate him. That is a stronger emotion only reserved for people I know personally. But I don't like or respect him as a person. And that is his fault.

I have the hugest respect for him as a tennis player, and when we go back to talking about the actual sport, the fact that I think Novak is an utter moron, will not stop me from giving him all the credit he deserves as a player.

Now go annoy someone else, fanbot.LOL!
