Yea. Best feeling frame I’ve ever hit. And I’ve played with the Blade pro also. To me the UT/UP feel is better.
the blade is a good racquet and i could play fine tennis with it whenever i'm used to it but i could never enjoy the feeling of it personally

and speaking of grommets .... decided to take off the top head grommet to add some lead tape under the guard. I had a hell of a time trying to put the grommets back in. A lot of the holes the grommet did not go all the way back in. I finally managed to put them back but it took a good 45 min to do this. Does anyone have any tips to make the job a bit more easy? The way I did it was to start at one end and go hole by hole. I actually put the grommet in hot water first to make them more pliable. Then using two alls and a lot of sweat I finally got them back in. Part of the problem could be that the grommets were not a new set. Any tips would be appreciated. H.
i've had to put the grommets in hot water before putting them in before. it's a pain for sure, and i'm not sure if this advice is good advice to be honest so please don't hold me to it

I've taken off and replaced grommets and head guard on the UP 6 or more times without any issue. A simple awl helps guide the holes when putting them back on, but I never had issues requiring a heat gun, warm water bath, etc

For the UP B&G set posted on Wilson Pro labs site right now... it says v4 but will that fit a v3 18x20?
It will, but you'll be lucky if you get the actual grommet you ordered.

This has been an ungoing fiasco that I discovered and documented throughout this thread.
In short, you'll order the 18x20, will probably get the the 16x19. You'll then order the 16x19, and will probably still get the 16x19. They screwed up and mis-labeled an entire stock of grommets. So good luck if you pull the trigger!

Ultra pro 18x20 current and ex-wielders - which frames did you previously use and which frames did you move on to? Also, at the time the UP was your main frame, what was your second choice and third choice? Cheers...

Currently a BP v8 18x20 wielder but just ordered 2x UP 18x20 v3's because I got them at below cost. Not sure what I'm going to do but I've heard enough good things about this stick that I at least want to have them...

What should I expect? Love my BP but at times it can behave too much like a PS 18x20 (only other racquets I've ever played with).

If PS 18x20 ( pure strike?) there is 6RA stiffness points between the two frames and the UP is right in the middle at 63RA. Purely, based on this, the UP give you maybe less spin and more power? Both are control frames nonetheless.
When you say behave like PS 18x20, what does this mean? In terms of what characteristics?

I have used a prestige igmp for about the last decade but recently after injury am trying to get a bit more power from my racket. I was keen to try a Wilson blade v8 18x20 as I had heard the V7 was overpowered balance and swingweight wise if coming from a slow swingweight. I also have a v2 ultra tour (18/20) not yet strung up. Are those using these ultra pro v3 adding a lot of weight to bring that swingweight up and add some power? I have also heard the Blade V8 is underpowered but sounds a fantastic feeling soft frame so it figures it will be lower in power. I am hesitant to get a frame with too much power assist but could do with a bit more from the frame maybe due to this injury certainly over the coming months until I get my power back again?

Was using the Artengo and Blade Pro before. Switched to the UP for almost 6 months before switching to the Diadem Elevate V3. Currently trying several frames including the Switch 315, FX500 and Fx500 Tour.

I had my UP leaded up to 330 SW. Been trying to sell my two with extra grommets for awhile now.

I apologize for being a broken record about this but I dont have spare grommets so my UP is still my top frame in my current config, but I am reserving them for when I get the chance to get more grommets

TF40 305 18x20, CX200 Tour 18x20, Whiteout 18x20 (and XTD) are all very comparable imo

I switched to CX200 Tour, it is not working out like I imagined. I play with no confidence and dont have the footwork to back up this frame.

I am moving onto the Solinco Whiteout XTD 18x20. a much more modern frame than the others but it is off the bat an easy to use frame so I'm excited to see where that takes me

UT/UP still my main going on almost a year. It was also my main when it was first released years ago but I’m a holic and have issues with commitment. Been messing around with the latest ezone98 and just picked up a whiteout 18x20 and shift 300. I don’t see any of these taking the place of the ultra though.

-Used RF97, too heavy for my shoulder
-Pro stock Ultra Tours (no backup)
*Tested a bunch after the Pro Stocks (their swingweight started hindering my game)
-Ultra Pro 16M for a bit
-Artengo TR960 16M was a top contender as a replacement but never got a second one
-Pro Staff 95 (2014) customized, for a bit. So fun but mostly as unforgiving
-Retail Ultra Tours customized to 10point lower swingweight than the Pro Stocks. Great, but knew I needed a little more power/forgiveness.
Finally acquired a second UP 16M and removed a bit of lead from my other.
UP 16M will now be my racquet for the forseeable future.

2nd person said we’re looking into the issue on the website
3rd person said we’re trying to fix the website of this issue might be a few weeks

Wilson is offering the UP v3 18x20 at 50% discount. Hesitating whether to go for it or keep waiting for the v4 release. Any views?

I’ve read in the UP V3 16x19 thread that someone bought three discounted racquets whose weight, unstrung, was 317g or more (!!!). Do you think Wilson is getting rid of the under or overspecs v3s or was that an unlucky order?

I’m tempted to go for the v3 as the wait for the v4 is becoming too long. I’m told it’s due in June in Europe. Any truth to that? It’s been on its way since last Q4 2022.

Thanks for your input

How invested are you in this racket for long term use? There are still no grommets and wouldn’t use this as a primary if you hit a lot. That being said it’s an amazing racket and I like the V3 paintjob tbh it looks pro

It’s my racquet for the 2 years or so. I’ve messed with others in the past but I always come back to the UP 18x20.

That was me that bought 2x 18x20 UPs at below MSRP with much higher than advertised weight. That stated, if you can get 50% off MSRP then I think it's absolutely a great deal. I got mine below cost, but definitely not 50% off MSRP. That is a steal in my opinion. I say go for it...

Thanks. I hope to be luckier. I will likely order a few and keep the two with closest specs.

Hello,

I've ordered 4 UPv4 18x20. The measurements are below and I'd say the discrepancies are reasonable. May I ask for your help on which 2 racquets to keep based on weight, swingweight and balance? Which two are easier to match? I'm looking to have two identical racquets to customize. I'd like the starting point to be the same (or as close as possible).

Many thanks,

Your are much beefier

Damn those are beefy. I hope whenever they are available here in the US that they aren’t that high SW.

The UT/UP were always platform frames so I'm surprised the SW is that high on those. Mine were always much lower which left a lot of room for lead and customization.

The pearlescent paint might have more layers to it…but I don’t think blade pro saw a change this drastic when it went to the v8 paint

Sorry, it’s v3 and not v4. V4 not yet available in Europe.

The measurements were made with the plastic in the handle and the cardboard (with Monfils picture). That explains the beefier numbers.
I didn’t want to remove the cardboard to avoid having issues with the return. I should have clarified that at first. As long as all racquets had the same extras I suppose the difference in measurements would remain the same without plastic and cardboard.

Yes in theory. I measured that way too on my vcores. Don’t need an exact number just wanna know lowest/highest

How does the CX200 Tour compare to the UP? It seems to be fairly similar spec wise.

They are. Id say the CXTour requires more lead to beef it up then the Ultra Pro. Feel is comparable, but slightly different. If you know your target specs, either one will with as an excellent platform. But without lead, the UP18 is more playable stock.

Would I switch from one of these to the other? No.

But unless your hitting up the used market, is go with the Dunlop simply because they are $50 cheaper. Also I think the limited black PJ is fantastic.

To add to @Soundbyte's very good summary, Dunlop does have a slightly more "open" and spin-friendly 18x20 pattern. Difference is subtle but it's there.

Also 95 vs 97 sq-in heads, which is negligible from a playing standpoint.
Also agree that if you don't already use one, Dunlop is probably the way to go because it is very good and on sale and the all black looks great.

Is ultra pro 16x19 a completely different racquet than 18x20 whi h ive heard is actually just an ultra tour?
