Maybe if Wimbledon was real grass like Halle. But Wimbledon these days, especially the stadium courts, play more like green clay in the 2nd week. Halle = real grass.

Yeah, the outer courts play faster, and last year especially court 1 was very slow. I don't know why they have to make them so slow because with the modern rackets it's easier to return big serves that in the 90s. They've overcompensated with the court speeds.

It's an all-Russian final in Halle for the 1st time in it's history.
Well, there it is. Yet more expectations turned on their head! Just as it looked as though Zverev was heading for the title here, Bublik made his presence felt. With the home crowd against him, his efforts were particularly impressive. It seems he had only one outcome emblazoned in his mind – the win, and he took it without needing a tie break / a third set. He played some sensational shots to break AZ in the 11th game of the second set, and then served out the match. Well done to him for getting through, with this comprehensive win.
I am not a fan of Bautista-Agut’s game, but respect his efforts on the tour over the years. It’s a pity he ran out of steam against Rublev, losing in a routine straight set encounter.
I’ll cheer for the unseeded underdog in the final, and hope AB can seal the victory.

Some really intelligent well played points there by Bublik. He totally outsmarted Zverev. Those highlights looked similar to when Federer embarrassed him in Halle by bringing him to the net a few years back.

I missed the match - the highlights on youtube are good fun though. Bublik´s style reminds of the stuff Santoro used to play back in the days. Anyhow, The ABZ campaign had a jolly good day in Halle.

Bublik was zoning those first 3 games though. Nothing much almost anyone could have done against that.
And Bublik takes the first set with a crazy number of aces/service winners.
