Nadal is planning his return to clay at MC

Looks like the bull is starting off his clay campaign nice and early. This should be very interesting.

Good news for sure, but at this point I’ll believe it when I see it. His body has been breaking down after a couple of matches and then he’s out for months at a time. If he plays it’ll be the first time he’s even played there in 3 years.

While this is true, it is still encouraging for his fans and tennis in general that he is starting off the clay season this early. As for how it will go, well, your guess is as good as mine, but its a start.

He should use duct tape for all his joints and muscles... pretty strong stuff

If it's good enough for John McClane, it's good enough for everyone else.

Let's hope it actually happens.

This whole thing is so dumb. He made a huge deal of coming to IW, then pulled out. He could have literally stayed in the draw and gotten a WO from Miloshhhh, then pulled out...but no, immediately after pulling out of IW he's posting IG stories of clay court prep. I feel like we're being made fools of

I'm just hoping he can finish 1 tournament. It will be a shame if he tried to play, but had to pull out. At this point I'm not counting on him to play many tournaments at all. I do want to see him contest for at least 1 CC title this year before he calls it quits.

I think the best case scenario is like 2 matches in Monte-Carlo. Just enough to get his sea legs back and prove he can play tennis again.

If his body feels okay, he can ramp up in Barcelona before taking a big rest by skipping Madrid.

And what will it give? If his best is playing 2 matches and then skipping a tournament, no reason to even show up to BO5 matches.

Why would he do Barca but not Madrid you think? Just because he has a personal preference for the Barca tourney?

What other reasons are there to continue playing, if every tournament is now a risk of getting injured? (according to you)
He's clearly retiring at the end of this year. He just wants to play these tournaments one last time and fans want to see him play one last time to say goodbye.

He's been injured and rehabbing for over a year at this point. I'm sure he just wants to play some tennis again before walking away for good.

The Barcelona tournament is important to Rafa because his club hosts it. He calls it his 'home tournament'. He has been a member of the Real Club de Tenis Barcelona (hosting the tournament) since he was 11 years old.

He doesn't like the Madrid Masters because Madrid sits at a high altitude (667 m or around 2100 ft above mean sea level) that causes the balls to travel through the air faster than at other European clay court tournaments.

Well, as long as he pulls out like a week in advance.

I hope he's in a state to actually compete...

2022 Wimbledon was the last time we saw the old Rafa. He'd won the first two Slams and reached the semis there, was 35-3 on the season.
Since then he's gone 7-7 and barely played

He is a pro tennis player and his job is literally to make money for tournaments so that he and other players get a share of an increasing pot of revenue. He is going to help sell tickets till the last minute when he will be either able to play or not.

Both Barca and Madrid are disgrace

He's likely skipping Rome though, especially considering it ends one week before RG. It's just too close to RG and, subsequently,  arriesgado.

Bull is far more likely to play Madrid than Rome, despite the atypical clay conditions of the Caja Mágica. Maybe he skips both.

I think he'd be fine playing Rome now that it's a 2 week tournament, as long as he doesn't advance too far.

Nadal needs to play several matches at high intensity to recover the tone of competition that training does not provide; only in this way will he be able to reach Roland Garros with the possibility of going far.
In Paris 2024, due to the format, he will have even more chances to achieve something significant.
:D

I have no problem with nationalism- am greatly in favor of it, in fact. Protect your country!

Anti-nationalism (i.e., de facto uncontrolled immigration into *your* country) is a ruling-class project; one our oligarchic rulers are very fond of. The recent destruction of Sweden by these methods is a prime example, though surely not the final one.

If you had to bet your mortgage payment for May on whether he plays Roland Garros or not, what would you pick?

A well-timed New Injury for Great Warrior at RG is my call, probably second or third round.
Then ol' Raffers can get back to his Important Ambassadorial Duties for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia,

Exactly. Making hyped up training videos and then pull out at the last minute. Scammer at the highest level.
