I'm happy she lost. The way the media sensationalizes her - all the gorgeous model shots - is tiring. Her arrogant, obsessiveness-compulsive behavior on the court, the glare she uses to intimidate her opponents before serving, the general disrespect she shows for those who have issues with the noise she makes - all add up to someone I really do not care for. This level of disrespect is insidious and provides a nasty role model for younger players - aren't we supposed to enjoy tennis and treat our opponents the way we'd like to be treated ourselves? There are any number of different perspectives on her tennis performance and role in society, but I bet she has a difficult time simply laughing at herself. I don't think she should be rewarded for being pretty.

So, I'm glad she lost. I'm a 55 year old overweight white guy who will enjoy the Wimbledon telecasts alot more now - networks say she is the most marketable product they have? Well I'm a guy who could care less about her - looks are skin deep - attitude and how one carries oneself go show alot more. Character, or in this case, the lack thereof, falls short.

But, I could be wrong you know. Just the opinion of an overweight, former great, tennis player.

There's just nothing that makes me as happy in tennis as when she loses. It's that congenital absence of a soul, that cursory "drop dead" handshake at the end of a match, that Stepford stare. My Wimbledon is complete regardless of what else happens.

Well, one fewer shrieker! I can take most of her game, but her screaming is a bit overdone (to say the least).
Who will get booted out next? My vote for Victoria. Less need for earplugs!

If Azarenka, Sharapova and Nadal all lose fairly early, my Wimbledon will be complete. 2/3rds there!

EDIT: add the extremely annoying S. Williams to this list of "players I wish would go away and not come back".

i'm all for the introduction Shriek Allowance Meter or SAM device. A player are allowed to have an aggregate maximum of 1500 decibels per match. Sharapova can shriek all she wants and get her allowable max early in the match. Rain delays or cramps/minor injuries, resets SAM back to zero.

Once it hit above the SAM, a point is deducted.

Didn't that guy from Maroon 5 say publicly that she was 'like a dead frog' in bed?
My guess is that her best screaming is saved for on-court.

I'm in full agreement. I don't ever think I've seen a more snotty, arrogant,and rude female tennis player like that on tour. The attitude along with screaming, makes for a very unlilkeable person IMO. Her dad is a jerk so maybe she's just carrying on the tradition. I also don't see where the most marketable player notion comes from either. She's not much to look at to me.

Sharapova must have a 10% record vs top 10 players at slams, or something like that. She really doesn't belong at the top, and keeps getting lucky draws. And even then she had a big time slam drought until this year's RG.

That story was meant as a joke in a satirical newspaper, but "legitimate" news outlets picked it up as if it were true.

Important enough that nobody is stopping her from grunting are they? The sponsors are not paying her for nothing. If she were not bringing in the dollars for them they would not renew her contracts would they and she would not be the highest paid female athlete. Use some common sense.

Yeah, I am in complete agreement. Overhyped, with the fake act, and all the personality of cold, dead wood. I get that she's tall, but that seems to be about it, and no one talks about the fact that she's way light up top :shock: (unlike Goerges or Kvitova)?

I wish that each WTA had to play the same ranked mens player to "pay" for even being allowed to compete side by side with the ATP for the same cash.

I'm so glad she's out! I recall one of the British commentators describing Sukapova like a graceful swan. WTF was that guy smoking?!?!?! She is not graceful at all! She is awkward as can be in all her movements!!!
