hi mikeler. first of all im interested on trying the discho micro fibre. but multifilament string doesnt last for me. because i try the x-one bishase 16 string it only last 2-3hrs and it broke. hows the durability of micro fibre?
61 lbs (4 pounds above my normal multi tension). Seems to work. On RacquetTune I notice a tension loss every time it's damp outside, so I'm going to be more careful next time and just use a spare on damp days. It lost 18% tension over the duration (still played well).

I did not play X1 to breakage, so it is hard for me to compare. I did play with it for longer than 2-3 hours though. The only way to know is to try it.
Thanks. When I used Wilson gut RT indicated about the same tension loss. I may call TW and order a set and see if they will do the cheaper US Mail shipping.
You sound like a real string breaker. Some people just can't use multis. Microfibre is durable for a multi, but it's nothing out of the ordinary. If you can't use poly mains for some reason, you might have to try natural gut.

Looking at the review of your Klip, most people said it was more durable than VS. I got about 12 hours out of the Wilson gut before breakage. So it sounds like that might be a good first gut to try for a string breaker.

Thinking of giving PPA 16 a whirl in a pair of MP Prestige 18x20....
Any difference black vs. white? Any thoughts on PPA in a 18x20 MP frame? Currently using intellitour at 57#, plays great but would like a little more bite on topspin...polys are out for me...want to keep my arm attached to my shoulder thus only gut or multis need apply.

I tried natural and black, and I can't tell the difference. It won't give you more spin than Intellitour, but I like it better overall.

Mike, you also rated Technifiber Multifeel ahead of their flagship string X-1 biphase. Any reason for this preference other than the price difference ?

Who ? Federer doesn't need help with strings. he is set with gut. besides i looked at your post #1. that is why i was asking about multifeel. I might just switch to multifeel if it is so good. Technifiber always promotes their Flagship string X-1 as their best. so it is very difficult what is their best stuff.

Tecnifibre changed Multifeel right around the time that Mikeler reviewed it. The new stuff is quite a bit stiffer than the old one. The new 16 is too stiff, but the 17 is somewhat playable. Mikeler tested the old version. It's too bad; it was my favorite multi. I'm having a hard time replacing it.

what do you mean different ? it is the same old model of multifeel right ? You are not talking about that XR 1, i don't think. haven't heard much of anything on that XR 1 stuff which is supposed to be updated MF.

Wilson NXT Max is very good. It's the string I was using before Multifeel. It's too expensive for me though. I tried Dunlop Hexy Fiber. It was too low powered and the strings got too chewed up too quickly. I'd like to try Dunlop DNA, even though I've been warned that textured multis need to be straightened a lot. Also it's more expensive than Multifeel.

I picked up an Exo3 Tour 100, 16 x 18 demo today. It appears to have been used maybe once or twice with a full job of Wilson Sensation in it. I plan on using it a few times this week if the rain holds off.
It feels much lighter than the 7G. I just want to see if it is truly more comfortable. Part of my arm problem now seems to be the weight of the 7G. The PSTs I had 2 years ago felt good at first and then started getting too heavy for my shoulder. Now the 7G seems to be a little too sluggish for me over long matches. Guess I'm just getting weaker over the time. Granny sticks are around the corner...

I hit with the RZR Bubba the other day. It is, quite honestly, like swinging a kite on a yard stick! Quite an experience.

Just hit about 20 serves with the Exo. The ad side kick serve seemed to have nice junk on it.

Just be careful with it. It is easily the most unique hitting racket I've used, to the point I ended up subconsciously changing my stroke with it.

Well, I've changed from a 1 handed backhand to a 2 handed backhand because of my arm. That is pretty major too! I get your point though but this is a last resort before taking some time off.

Are you having arm issues, or shoulder issues? I currently play with the Exo3 Tour, awesome racket, and in my opinion more comfy that the 7g. But if it's your shoulder that's hurting, though the Tour swings relatively light which would be nice for your shoulder, it doesn't give that much free power on serves (but is fine in the power department on groundies and volley IMO). So you might end up pushing your shoulder even more trying to get that little bit of extra power that you're inherently missing using that stick. Though you're right, kick serves are pretty sick with it (though my kick serve is fairly non-existent).

Right now, I can't break the multi I'm using. It just frays and looks disgusting and then I have to cut it out to satisfy my OCD.
Mostly forearm issues. Mild TE would be the best description. I'm not worried about the power level, I can fix that by lowering string tension some. I think the lighter weight is something I need. My arm gets fatigued over long matches with the 7G.

Have you tried changing the grip on your racquet? Have some hand, wrist, and elbow twinges with firm, leather grips.

The Shock Shield grip might be a good idea. I'm using the stock PK grip. I still think the issue is the weight of the racket. I used the heavier PST before the 7G and it just got to be too much after awhile. It seems like the same thing is happening with the 7G now.

I tried to switch back to the exo when my golfers elbow started acting up. Be careful, losing those extra few points of head light exacerbated my issue.

I warmed up with it last night and played almost 2 games before the rain came. It is noticeably more comfortable for me just based on that limited time. I'm hoping to get another chance to play with it tonight and this weekend. I really would like to test it in a long match to see how my arm does with it.
The Shock Shield grip might be a good idea. If you try it, don't be discouraged by the larger grip size because it will compress after a few sets and feel normal sized after that. If it turns out you need a lighter racquet, PK just started selling the Q5 295 version. It's a bit stiffer and more powerful, too, so it might ease your transition to a granny stick.

having seen your rather quick strokes, think your arm/shoulder might agree more with a lighter/easier swinging racquet.

I actually played my best tennis with a super light Prince O3 Purple. It was a Sports Authority knock off of the O3 blue. That is too light I realize but you are right. With my strokes, a lighter racket with the O ports is probably a good call. I will admit, the extra spin with the Tour is intoxicating!

Wow, I played incredible with this racket last night. I'm going to put in an order for 3 of these bad boys today at TW. Going to throw these into these multis into the order. I'm pulling the trigger before lunch today, so if anybody has some last second suggestions, lemme know:

I don't think Ashaway Dynamite is going to last in a 16x18 frame. I'll look into the other two.
