Who has/had the biggest forehand any of you people have ever seen? I thought Soderling's forehand was a monster especially on Clay.

Great troll attempt and an encouraging start, but you'll really need to do better if you want to stand out from the crowd.

Here, I'll help him out and give him an example.

My answer to OP:

Well, I think that post-PEDs Djokovic has probably among the most explosive forehand ever. It was this forehand that was required to beat a PED-enhanced Nadal in the AO. This was before Nadal went and lost Wimbledon to the up and coming Rosol.

Roger Federer, the second best-player of all time, has the biggest natural forehand ever. Although, Andre Agassi comes very close. Agassi might have had been considered the best natural forehand of all time... if he'd have beaten the best player of all time -- Pete Sampras.

How did I do?

This person just had enough as soon as they read "Roger Federer, the second best-player of all time," and couldn't bother to continue reading the next 20 words. Just an observation.

:D

Isner.
Confidence. Huge forehand to play attacking tennis the way the game is supposed to be played.
Would have already won 5 slams this year hadn't he been injured.
Nightmare for any player (both male and female) from any era.

rafa has a huge forehand. it's vastly underrated on these forums. bar soderling, delpo, rosol, and others who have taken advantage of poor rafa, i dont see anyone out gunning him when he's 100 percent and not injured or having family problems, or depressed.

I genuinely thought Soderling's forehand on clay was one of the biggest forehands I've seen and yes I'm a Nadal fan, I was watching Soderling vs Ferrer in 2011.

Troll Post? I have more intellect not to stoop to your childish fanboyisms mate. Now take your aspersions and stick them.

It's hard to tell, because those forehands that visually do not look as fast, may actually be loaded with heavy spin, thus making them very hard to return.

Soderling just looks like a gormless ogre clubbing the **** out of the ball. I think he and Gonzo are strong candidates.

Fernando Gonzales for having massive pace as well as the ability to put huge spin on the ball. Andreev's is lethal as well.

Guys, It's absurd that you don't consider the great forehands of the past: Tilden, Vines, Perry, Pancho Gonzalez, Segura, Laver, Lendl...

I considered these, but still went with Fernando G
The question was the biggest, not the best. Kramer said Segura's 2-hander was the best.

Wouldn't either Del Potro or soderling have the biggest in recent years? Murray has the biggest of the big 4(not the best but most pace).

90's Clay

Depends.

Pete had the best running FH bar none and it was flat and heavy with big pace
Rog had the best inside-out FH
Del Potro had a deadly FH at his peak.. Tremendous pace

.. Depends on what type of FH we are talking

especially when most of those guys played with wooden racquets. out of this list i'd vote gonzalez.

Pete's running fh was great but Rafa's is probably a bit better.

ROFL!! Genius post!! Seriously.. you have combined almost everything in one post

Maybe one addition could have been made about the era before the 80's, about how back then the tennisplayers played wooden rackets and had to work harder so that Pancho Gonzalez -for instance- should be considered to have the biggest forehand ever, because nowadays with the new strings it's so easy to whack the ball..

For all-round usefulness - being able to inject pace, being able to absorb pace, being able to vary the amount of spin, being able to change direction, hitting straight/cc/inside-out/inside-in forehand with equal ease - no-one really is close to Federer in terms of GFOAT*.

(*when he was in his prime or the recent times he's playing well which isn't nearly as often as it used to be.)

no it isn't. the question is who had/has the biggest forehand in history. if you've ever seen tilden play on video... there is obviously no place for him in this contest.

I'm trying to be sensible to Bobby's post, frankly I don't think Tilden's serve or forehand (Gonzales' as well) could be compared to the power game of today. For all that talk of their great weapons, watching a clip indeed you just can't reasonably believe that those are the greatest shots. Then you watch Fernando Gonzales or Del Potro slam the ball, and it's HOLY CRAP!

We consider all types of forehands. Just like we consider all types of surfaces when deciding on a GOAT, which incidentally eliminates Sampras because he sucked on Clay.

2007 AO Fernando Gonzales is probably best forehand exhibition, along with Del Potro's 2009 US Open run (especially the final)

So young. Can't read yet.

Fernando Gonzalez. Just an amazing player overall considering how much he could do playing 80% of the court with his FH and defending his BH by running around it so much. I saw him live, I have seen a lot of players live but Gonzo's FH was like a laser beam.

I get ya. :) But sometimes these geezers on the forum need a reality check about their past heroes. Yes, give the past players respect for what they've done for the sport and acknowledge their impact on the present game, but also understand how much the game has changed since then. I don't care how many basalt fibers and modern technology you put in a racket, 5'7" Laver would have stood no chance in today's game.
