All this is true. Thought Torres got jobbed to get sent off. He caused lots of problems with his pace.

Maybe Jose is figuring out this guy Mata can actually play.

City reminds me of the early 2000s version of Chelsea. Lots of talent but couldn't be bothered to try hard against the lesser lights. I remember Desailly saying as much in an interview.

You know what? I was certain we were going to go on and win it. Schurrle had that great chance and we just kept coming. It would of been hard for them to last another 15 minutes of that. After Torres went off that ended.

Yeah was pleased for Mata. Every tackle and defensive thing he did was a huge relief. Jose has to be convinced now :)

I hope Jose gets his eyes hot-pokered where Mata is concerned and hates his guts enough to sell him to ManU!

For me, it's been blown way out of proportion. Mata said in an interview this week that he came back late from the Confederations Cup, then picked up a quad injury in his first pre season game. He's only really been fit enough to play pain free since the last break for the National side.

Yesterday Mourinho talked to him on the touchline when there was a break in play, he patted him on the back and that should be that, i'm fully expecting him to start on Tuesday.

The media always like to make a huge deal out of things. They said Luiz had been dropped last week when he wasn't in the squad. He'd played twice for Brazil, flew back and played against Everton straight off the plane, then again a few days later against Basel. Thats 4 games and two flights in 14 days, Mourinho gave him a rest and the media started up stories about him being dropped, falling out with the manager, wanting to go to Barcelona lol. Since then he played against Swindon and again against Spurs.

They just make up all these things about Mata and Luiz because they know they're the future of Chelsea and they want a reaction from Mourinho.

Fena, we are desperate!

Under Fergie, we were playing badly and gettng away with it, not any more!

They aren't looking good, no doubt. Things will improve though.

Mata probably isn't the kind of player you need anyway, he plays where Rooney does and he's carrying you so far this season. Man Utd are known for their flying wingers, Nani, Young, Valencia aren't really good enough imo. They also need to sort the defence out, Jones has been moved from right back to midfield to centre back throughout his career. Why play Ferdinand who is way past it? Just play Jones there this season, put your faith in him and don't move him around. He'll come good.

Another factor is that Moyes just isn't that scary, with Ferguson teams were beaten mentally before they even went out there. That's gone now and teams like West Brom will come and have a good go.

Check the comment below... "Very stupid fiction for the diggest of idiots."

There are so many idiots out there.

Did you see all the questions about De Bruyne yesterday? The media seems obsessed with players who don't play. We have 7 players behind the main striker, De Bruyne is 7th choice. The last week we have had 3 games, he played 90 minutes in one of them.

Mourinho gave them exactly what they deserved when he walked out. What next? Why isn't Blackman, our 4th choice keeper not in the squad? Pfft.

They wouldn't ask Moyes why Zaha or Januzaj isn't playing, it's just trivial.

The game tonight is big for us after the Basel loss, why not ask Mourinho about that? Not why a 7th choice player isn't playing.

The best football in the Premier League this weekend was probably in the Tottenham v Chelsea game for me, just a shame both sides couldn't both play at their best at the same time :) instead they had one great half each. Thought Liverpool looked good aswell though, even with Suarez back, Sturridge is doing everything.

Unfortunatelly didn't saw Chelsea vs Tottenham.

Also didn't saw Liverpool's match. I have to say I am very surprised with them doing that well, especially without Suarez

Liverpool have looked good. What do you think of Coutinho? There was a poll here last week where people were asked who was better, Oscar or Coutinho, and Coutinho won by a distance!

Couldn't believe that, Oscar is twice the player.

No way Coutinho is better than Oscar. Coutinho indeed played a decent season so far, but he ain't better than Coutinho.

To be honest, all those British Teams look dull this season. I still think City made a major mistake by firing Roberto Mancini.
United's lucky to have Rooney in good shape so far, otherwise things would be looking even worse for them. Their midfielders just suck balls.
Chelsea still needs some time to get their §hit together, I'm sure the team is yet not sure what Mou exactly wants them to do, plus they badly need a decent defensive midfielder. Ramires sure as hell can't do that job.
Arsenal is on a roll, though I think it's just a matter off time till the hype around Özil crackles, and they run out of puff halfway through the season.

I don't expect too much from those English teams in this years CL season.

Totally agree, we're probably all around the quarter final level, at best.

Chelsea have the best chance, but only if we fix that midfield problem you mention (so glad to hear someone else pick up on it, no other fans or anyone in the media has mentioned it, they actually think it's a strength!). It's unlikey we will fix it in January, but that's the only way we could go far.

Arsenal's midfield doesn't give the fairly weak defence enough protection, Man Utd won't be winning it anytime soon with Moyes, City could do well with Pellegrini, he has a track record and they seem to be making it a priority.

He's a genius and deserves full credit for his success but he's also a supreme jack@$$ and the media would like nothing better than to pick over his carcass.

It's all fine and well to behave like that when you're on top but his success seems to have peaked a few years back.

He'll get the job done but I'm sure the knives will be out for him until he turns it around.

I think so too, but to be fair to Arsenal they haven't had a fair roll of the dice with all those injuries. They may be hot, or for real, but nobody will know until Santi, Ox, Theo, etc... all get back from injury.

Maybe Ozil could be just another great player, or maybe he could make THE difference. We don't know.

We're only 6 games into the season...for all we know hell could freeze over next week and our planet as we know it could explode. Certainly knowing what's going to happen at Chelsea, United, Spurs, City, Pool, Arsenal, et. all is impossible.

His success peaked twice - at Porto and at Inter. He had an opportunity to have a more unlimited bank account than at Chelsea with Real Madrid, and even that didn't work out for him despite having Ronaldo.

I like the guy but I think he's overrated. I can't see him lifting the UCL trophy with Chelsea anytime soon, as much as that pains me to say. And his football at Chelsea has been incredibly boring. We should adopt an "attacking football or you're fired" policy like they have at Barca, Madrid and Ajax.

The main issue at Madrid was that Real had and still has a ridiculously weak defense. Sure they got some big names with Ramos, Pepe (who looks like a malfunctioned bolldozer on the pitch) but their positional play in their own half is what I'd call junior level. I'm pretty sure that's what ****ed Mou off while in Madrid, those pigheads probably refused to adopt to Mou's changes, or they are simply incapable to do so, as their defense this season looks just as pathetic as last season. Their attacking game is/was just fine, though i think they should look out for a decent striker in the next transfer period. Benzema is horrible. Oh and I think they should always start with Modrid in their starting squad, they guy brings calmness and security into their game and is capable of opening up the field unlike Khedira who looks just stuporous out there.

Back with Chelsea, Mou doesn't have that defensive issue, just look at what they did to Bayern in the Super Cup, their defense was INSANE, especially Cahill and Luiz were chasing down everything. As I said, I think they lack a decent defensive midfielder and probably a competitive striker. Torres is too inconsistent, Etoo way past his prime, Demba Ba ain't world class caliber. Cavani or Falcao would have been a great transfer, a pricey but steady striker.

Couldn't have put it better myself. The thing that amazes me is all these experts and most of our fans don't see the problems. When Van Ginkel got injured against Swindon the commentator said it's no problem as our midfield is so strong that we won't miss him. Sure, against Swindon we wouldn't, but in Europe and the League we're basically screwed with Ramies, Mikel and Lampard.

The striker that probably best fits us is Lewandowski. That was never going to happen, which is a shame. The thing that amazed me about Torres at the weekend was his pace, he was as quick as he was 5 years ago so he obviously still has the pace in his legs. Must be a mental thing afterall, maybe Jose is starting to get the best out of him, there's nobody better out there at firing players up and giving them a purpose. Maybe it's happening with Torres, hopefully he plays tonight as he won't be playing again for awhile, which is unfair imo. What he did looks 10 times worse when they show it in super slow motion where it looks like he's scratching his face for a minute, in reality it was nowhere near as violent as the way they've manipulated the evidence to make it look.

The movement up front was better, the passing seems to be getting there too. You could count the games Mourinho has had since coming back on your hands, not sure why people were expecting us to be Barcelona by now.

Ridiculous. Well he transfered to FC Divealona, I guess they wanted him for a reason. I'm by no means a fan of Cristiano Ronaldo, but that guy got a reputation as a hardcore diver, gets burned by media and fans, while Barca gets away with everything. I'm starting to dislike that team more and more. Can't believe I was actually a fan of those actors.

The thing that annoys me more than anything about Barcelona is their sense of entitlement. They think that because they play this so called pretty football that everyone else is beneath them. You get the likes of Cruyff coming out whenever Chelsea play them slating our style, probably because we always end up beating them.

Whenever they go to ground they think it's a foul, they think they're playing a non-contact sport.

Makes me appreciate the PL and the basic idea of get on with it (other than Ashley Cole). Bale will fit in perfect with his diving skills in Spain.

That was a very entertaining match. Despite Bayern being far superior, the score could easily have been a tie if the goalie hadn’t had such a bad day. But the football was fun and lively, a far cry from the Celtic-Barcelona match, which I found deadly dull (aside from the passionate spirit of the fans).

That goalie, though, seems like a big liablity. Pellegrini should talk to Casillas who isn’t happy at Madrid.

every player in the squad's been ***** for 18 months except Milner Zabaleta and Kompany, Yaya in particular needs to be moved from the defensive mid role as his workrate defending is non existent and there's no Barry to cover for that anymore..also don't know what Pelle was thinking of playing a midfield 2 that got dominated against Stoke let alone a Guardiola led Bayern with probably the strongest midfield in the world..then wait for 75 minutes and 0-3 down at home (with 24% possession..) to change the tactics finally and bring a midfielder who actually can tackle and track back in Milner and one who can keep possession when pressured in Silva..

hart let a couple of soft ones in but they must have had 20+ shots and the second goal was the poorest defending I've seen in a long time that one wasn't his fault..could have been 1-6 or so had bayern brought their normal finishing, don't even want to know how bad it could have been if Mandzucic started.

Yeah Milner and Zabaleta i'd agree with, they've been great. Toure is always great when he's played in the right position. Kompany has been as bad as Hart for awhile imo though, he was incredible in the Manchester derby a few weeks back, but i've not seen him play like that since the title winning season.

Are you happy with Fernandinho? Everyone seemed to be raving about his performance against Chelsea last year and were saying what a great signing it was. For me it was awful, the price they payed for an average player, who's older than you think was crazy. We then went and did the same with Willian, it's like you see a player is from Brazil and his real value triples :)

These 2 pieces caught my eye this morning...

Samuel Eto'o has made good use of his bumper salary by amassing a fleet of cars worth £4million.

The pick of the Chelsea striker's fleet is the £1.55m Bugatti Veyron which was specially delivered along with three other vehicles to the London club's training ground after his move from Anzhi this summer.

As well as the Veyron, Eto'o has spent big on a £1.25m Aston Martin One-77, according to The Sun. The Cameroon forward, 31, also snapped up a luxury Maybach Xenatec for a whopping £750,000 and an Aston Martin V12 Zagato for £450,000.

Instead of articles about Eto'o having his highly expensive cars being delivered I'm sure the Chelsea fans would much rather be reading about goals being delivered...

An Arsenal fan told today how he was hit on the head with an iron stool when 100 Italian football hooligans stormed a pie shop near the Emirates stadium.

Tim Garwood, 48, was standing outside Piebury Corner with his son Will before Arsenal’s Champions League game with Napoli last night.

Thugs armed with metal poles and with scarves masking their faces launched the unprovoked attack as terrified staff barricaded themselves in the lavatories .

Speaking from his home in Romford, Mr Garwood said: “It was all a bit of a blur. I was trying to grab Will and he was trying to grab me then I looked up and saw this cast iron chair come smashing down on me. He just hit me full right on the top of my head.

“It was pouring blood but there was a doctor queuing up and he saw to me straight away before the cops got there and bandaged me up.”

Mr Garwood, the production director of Media 10 which puts on events such as the Ideal Home Show, was taken to hospital where he had 16 stitches put in a head wound and had a brain scan.

He added: “I’m not too bad this morning, thank goodness. I’ve had better days. I’ve been going to see the Arsenal all my life and even though this was horrible it won’t put me off going back. The funny thing is my great grandfather came over from Napoli in the Thirties and as a family we’ve always had a great affection for the place.” His business partner Richard Morey, 48, said: “It was like going back to the early Eighties."

Oh man... ("Shakes head".)

Yeah English players do go for way more than they are worth, you can understand that though with the new rules where you have to have a number of homegrown players. Certainly puts a premium on them.

The 4-4-2 was a crazy decision. They needed Milner in there to try and disrupt things, and Silva to try and get on the ball. 24% possession at one point as it? Ouch.

These thugs are just cowardly scum. They didn't go down an Arsenal boozer to pick a fight, they went to an artisan pie shop frequented by fathers and sons, women, families etc. Just picked a soft target with no likelihood of retaliation, and smashed up the place and the innocent people in it. Pathetic.

The perpetrators are clearly back in Naples. Napoli as a club have a very strong responsibility for accounting for the actions of their fans at away games. There are a limited number of them travelling, who all would have passed through an airport from Naples, bought numbered tickets through the club, and been recorded on CCTV, so with the amount of technology around today these thugs should be locked up. I'm sure they'll be shielded though.

I can’t remember where I read this, but there was this article I saw recently where the author explained how the new presence of a superior player in a squad, especially a playmaker, lifts the performance of the entire team in a way that goes far beyond the new player's added value by itself. The author was saying that this happens by a sort of contagious influence. The other players in the squad are so aware of how much better this guy is, that they strive to be "at the level", they don't want the difference to be too glaring, they don’t want to look bad, which causes them to be much more in tune and alert, and actually play better. There must be something to this. It’s probably true up to a point.

I wouldn't doubt that! They also probably don't want to show that the club wasted its money in bringing that high-profile player, if he can't do anything because the squad isn't good enough to support him.

Elsewhere, it appears Pirlo is on the out at Juventus?! The dude is like a fine wine that only gets better as it ages. Surely Juve looked at Milan's mistake in letting the guy walk and don't want to fall victim to the same situation they themselves made such a great move by doing?

Watch him leave the club at the end of the season, he'll go to Barcelona, fit right in alongside Xavi and Mascherano, and dominate until he's 40. I know Barca is speeding up their play a tad, but suppose he did decide to join? He'd walk straight into the team with no questions asked. Pirlo, supported by Macherano and Pique, feeding passes to Xavi, Iniesta, Neymar and Messi? That would be orgasmic, I reckon.

Pirlo fell out with allegri at milan thus coming to us, thing with pirlo is that most people turn a blind eye when he loses the ball too many times (especially trying to dribble past his opponent just 5 yards past our own box and loses the ball).

He has still got the killer pass - no doubt but Pogba getting better with games and plays better in the middle with vidal and marchisio, and i belive we have to look to the future and give the role to pogba.
Another problem is that pogba has that stupid agent who tempt him to other top clubs and i dont want Juve to make the same mistake as Man United did and not to feature him more often.

Reports have suggested that x.alonso will be out either January or next summer - every report ive read has stated as the next destination for him most likely be Juve (as pirlo will most likely leave), hes 30/31 i believe - reports have suggested £6m-£8m is good enough for madrid.
