This racket was awesome against Kukushikin today. but still Roger very tentative on his forehand side due to ball coming off HOT sometimes.

yea they do. have you seen Murray and Nadal's biceps. they are huge

Murray's biceps
Nadal has poor technique, that is why he has to muscle his shots to get the right result (also he supposedly enjoys working out a lot).
Djokovic has a really high SW of 370 and yet his arms are more like chopsticks than Nadal's biceps. That's what good technique does for you, you can swing the racquet using its mass/inertia rather than trying to move it forcibly.

I've been trying to recover from my cortex exposure for the past couple years. Just when I think I'm ok, I'll go serve with my Aero Storms and have to start the recovery process anew. Its a vicious cycle; If only I could play serve and volley with a ps 85 maybe I would be a real tennis player.

Yes, but also keep in mind that he gets paid $2 million a year for life to help Wilson sell tennis racquets.

And if he feels his 98 is "incredibly good" after only a couple of months, how did he feel about his Tour 90 that he used for 12 years?

Right now he doesn't have a trademark frame that he's using that he can sell so it really doesn't matter what he says.

I'd guess that he would talk about the things that he likes in the 98 over the 90 if asked. He has talked about change in the past - the biggest problem in the past about making changes is not having enough time to get used to something new or different. He's carved out the time and made the effort with his new frames(s).

I've made the shift from 65 to 90 to 95 playing around with 85s, 100s and 107s here and there. It took a while getting comfortable with the 95 from the 90 and, for me, the advantages outweigh the disadvantages and I've really decreased the disadvantages with technique over time. Someone recently asked me if I had tried the Graphene and I just commented on what the general feeling of them was. Changing frames is a real pain and it's not something that I like to do so I'm committed to my current set of frames for another 8 years (it would make a total of ten).

Unfortunately, the Fed frame is something that could get me to change my mind. If it isn't too stiff. I have the feeling that it's going to be stiffer than I like - and I'm kind of hoping that it is because it's about the only thing out there that would tempt me away from what I have now. That and the PT57A but finding those in the configuration that I want is very hard.

But everyone knows that he's using a new Wilson racquet and everyone is heavily anticipating its release. Tennis Channel thinks when Wilson finally does release it to the public there will be customers lined up around the block of pro shops waiting to buy it, much like Apple stores used to when they released a new iPhone. :)

So I think what Federer says about it will have a big impact on future sales of this racquet. And I'm sure Wilson is listening to his every word.

ok just got back from a meeting with wilson yesterday and this is the latest,
the new frame is a combination of the blade and pro staff but with the 98 head as we already know. it has a PWS but the PWS isn't as wide as on the pro staff. its staying at 17.5 or 18mm thickness with the graphite and kevlar braid.
its 95 % a certain green light but there just waiting on the final go ahead from The master (Rog)
If its a go ahead there will be a family of them coming out with rogers as the flag ship model. They asked for possible names i suggested PROBLADE, and rogers as the RF1 as i saw somebody posted earlier. thats all i know so far.
OP, thanks for sharing.

But could you clear up one of the ending statements: "...but they're just waiting on the final go ahead from The master (Rog)." I know there is no way Fed can tell Wilson when to release racquets - no mfg would give that power to a player. And as far as the final specs, it doesn't matter - I can't imagine Wilson, recent lawsuit or not, is going to release the same racquet. The racquet will be 'based on' his new racquet and the marketing will be vague enough to avoid further lawsuits. They could start cranking out 98 sq in racquets today with similar characteristics. If they're undecided on anything that's holding up the release, it's probably the paint job/markings.

If you had shares in AAPL for the last couple of years, you'd have been on a great roller-coaster ride. The problem with a company putting out new products is that the rumors of the product freeze a lot of sales of existing products. And AAPL has that problem as does Wilson right now.

But they could decide too make the flagship model close to Federers racket, as they advertized (and Federer specifically said he wanted) in the launching of the K90.

Reason Wilson hasn't released anything is pretty obvious......

Federer, for all we and Wilson knows, may go back to his 90 just like he did at cincy last year at the last minute. The fact he is still playing with a blacked out frame is very telling. Reps have been spewing nonsense about a new larger federer frame for over a year now. Fact is, they know about as much as we do and will say anything in the light of their boy playing with a blacked out frame.

Similar but different. There's not 1 feature Wilson racquets needs that is giving Babolat and edge. AAPL needs a bigger screen - the public has spoken.

They're not going to sell the exact, highly customized racquet (at least I hope you don't think that). So again, how close does it have to be? That isn't the reason.

That is reasonable. But a quarter of the year in and about to be a 24-4 start...

Very true. Marketers are very closely related to sales people who love to talk...

Nate Ferguson said Federers K90 was "off the shelf". Ofcourse Federer has custom pallets, a bit of lead on top and his specific string set up including power pads. There is afaik no evidence against this, and the specs matched up pretty well.

"Pretty well" - blow your own argument out of the water. If you want to think 'custom pallet' is just the groove for his pinky, that's your right to be wrong.

What would you expect Nate F to say? If he divulges anything his company will lose every high profile (high paying) customer.

I know people who've held his old racquet - it was a lot heavier than what any visible lead tape could product. As are many pros racquets. They need the stability.

I've held his frame and it is not as heavy as you are alluding to. It feels just like a stock frame.

His 90s, strung, gripped and ready to go, only weighed 10 grams more than a stock K90.

Reason Wilson hasn't released it cause Roger is still in test phase. he said this himself. and Roger is very happy with this new frame thus no chance he will go back to his old racket.

so the Theory has been proven by Roger Federer himself. Bigger head, bigger racket enable you to serve more Aces and hit better groundies

Then why did Federer serve more aces with the PS 6.0 85 than he did with the Tour 90s? And why did he serve more aces with the Tour 90s than he does with the new 98?

wrong. my statements were coming from the Man himself. Federer himself said he is serving more Aces and serving better and playing better with bigger head. He likes his bigger head racket.

what is it with you people anyway ? you are kind of people who wants to go back to wood racket and 80 inch racket era. Change with the times or be a dinosaur forever, Said McEnroe back in 1983, and rest is history.

Is Roger still using pws? It seemed like roger's racquet was missing pws when i saw close ups of his racquet in his last davis cup match.

search the post i did i got rogers racquet

I can say with 100% certainty that RFRF is the real deal. I have seen his residence and he has almost every racquet Roger has used personally as well as Pete Sampras. His place looks like a Tennis Hall of Fame museum.

His contacts are legit and he is sincere and very trustworthy.

If you don't believe him then it's your loss.

Just trying to set the record straight should there be any doubt.

Cheers.

I've now seen a few posts by real professional stringers on this forum stating that the pro's rackets are not as heavy as what we believe and in fact, the weights are not that much different from stock forms. It's great we have these people around. They give us so much real information we cannot otherwise obtain.

BTW, I tried Pro Staff 6.1 90 BLX strung with Wilson Sensation 16 (55 lbs) just now and was pleasantly surprised how good the setup was. I've always thought Sensation is a cheap rubbish of string, but after today, I'm changing my opinion on this string.

Yes but have you ever picked up a racquet and dry swung it 5 times and thought it was heavy? Probably not. It is almost impossible to tell that way IMO.

There is no ball coming at you that you need to hit in your contact zone. Thats when you start figuring out what is heavy.

Before I really figured out my preferred specs, I have added lead and SW before to sticks and thought they were still light, only to go out on the court and discover I was woefully wrong after an hour.

Also, to a guy like Drak who plays a ps85 and (i think) a modded steam - I do not believe he would find Fed's racquet to be that heavy. Someone else could. It is very subjective.

Furthermore, Drak himself has measured frames like Tipsas, and the weight is right in front of you - 355-365 in many cases.

Still light compared to racquets 15-20 years ago.

What I am saying is I believe Drak and also RFRF.

I had a racquet from TW that was strung with Sensation (don't recall if it was 16 or 17) and it was free and I was impressed with the string. It's my favorite for non-Poly. Unfortunately my stringer doesn't carry it.

Well, you could always buy a cheap drop weight stringer and buy the string and string for yourself, right? It saves a lot of money in the long run. And I agree that Sensation is actually a pretty good multi string especially given the very low price.
