I could see it going to 17 on the basis of the Tiafoe and Goffin matches this year though.

that's true. 17 final was better than the 09 one.

But he was in some danger of losing that Mannarino match, which would've been clearly more worse and more embarassing.
He somehow pulled that BH flick in response to Mannarino's deep return when facing breakpoint and turned it around in the final set.
