For sure, no? I really hope so.

Nothing, neither did the pic of Fed Angie posted....
Thought that match would never end, pathetic tennis. Har to believe they get equal prize money. Any of the top 200 men could beat any of them.
Ladies tennis is so bad, I have started watching golf!
I still can't believe Simona Halep was able to come back and win this one. She's clearly a champion, winning under such circumstances, playing lower than her max.
#Simona's defensive #ArantxaSV style of tennis is what's hampering her progress. Not to mention her #79 mph first serve. The women shouldn't copy the men in this regard. Tennis was once more offensive than it is now.

To me it is aesthetically pleasing. I like her movement, and the fluidity in her strokes. I also enjoy her vision and point construction.
I felt the same and this is perhaps the most important take away from this otherwise forgettable match. She may indeed stay true to what she said after the match she lost to Makarova in the AO QF - going forward she will fight to the end not matter what. I did not believe she will do this today but she did it after all.
I'm afraid she will pull out of Miami or have an early exit as she seemed to have some injury/physical issues. She was struggling when she usually doesn't. She did not feel here game at all today.
JJ played terrible too just like she did in the SF against Lisicki and she only got that far into the match because Halep played way below her level. This was Halep's luck today. If she would've played like this against a good player she would've been bageled for sure.
Winning 3 out of 4 tournaments this year, including a Premier 5 and a Mandatory is not too shabby. She is not the best player on the tour, but she deserves the place she is in at the moment. No other player below her can challenge that spot at the moment.
I'm sure this has been addressed but should we have really been shown the Coaching and Pathetic Whining from Jankovic. Actually that's why I watched: To see her get beat after telegraphing that she already felt like a loser... I felt like I wasn't watching professional sports but watching a Junior lesser event with a father trying to calm down his daughter...

In Italian, very good video.
For those who haven't seen the match: great rollercoaster drama.

Jankovic was never ready for the big stage--not just due to her lack of top level talent, but a mentality that was not within a country mile of that possessed by the greater players of her generation.

She is a nice counterpuncher with some talent for sure and her personality is very bubbly but man oh man, can she stink up the joint with her mental fragility during some big matches.
I would not blame her complete washout at the majors on mental fragility alone. Heck, Novotna became the poster child for that and still won a major--but she had the talent to win all along, something Jankovic never had at that champion's level.
Jankovic will never be at championship level because of her drama queen antics. It is antics that we saw today that seperated the champions from the pretenders.
She wasn't too far from winning though. All these top players, at one moment or another, are usually quite close to winning a big tournament, be it a Premier or a major. I don't think it's much more unlikely for Jankovic to win a major than it was for Iva Majoli. You're imagining an incredible gap between winning and not winning, but that gap isn't that huge. In a few weeks she could reach the French Open final with a lucky draw and an injured opponent in the final, and then all of a sudden she's a Slam winner. You just have to put yourself in that position as often as you can. And then a few years later people will be talking about her as if she had "the ability to win a Slam all along".
Well, I think it depends. You're imagining tennis talent as if it has nothing to do with context. Is Johansson better than Henman? Most people would say yes, he won a major and Henman never even reached a final. But you see my point. Myskina, was she so incredibly talented? Was her mental fortitude amazing? Jankovic could've won a major. The stars just didn't align for her.
