Angrey roars as Russia takes the first set in breaker.o_O They were down 3-1 early in the set. Dodig/Mektic are a formidable doubles team.

Columbia's World #1 Cabal and Farah in third set with Belgium which is shocking.

Viliegen and Gille of Belgium just took the #1 doubles team in the world to 3rd set tiebreaker.... and looked great. Why don't they play together in tour all the time ? they looked like top 10 team

Well Canadian matches, UK matches, and USA probably covers some ground. FS2 has it in USA. I saw mention of Canadian channel above in post. Eurosport has it in UK.

Bein Sports has it in Australia. They may be the only broadcaster doing three matches at a time.

The Davis Cup site in US only works on laptop/pc. Dark Ages stuff.

By the way the matches are off the chart good and the doubles is insane at this event. Right now Fabio and Matteo teaming up for Italy which was a huge surprise. Very dynamic event.

When is it on? I'll look at the tv guide for it

Get a VPN or use Firefox and use one of their free vpn's, just connect through a us server, they think your in the usa. I have a web page with all the usa cable stations, but its geolocked as well (usa only). Has Fox sports 2 though

He got to carry the team. Only three players? With Felix not able to go? They have no choice.

I was thinking about this issue you've touched upon yesterday. It looks like with this new format the countries which are able to produce more top players will have the advantage of being able to rest a player and have others available to step in. This really emphasizes the team nature of the event as those with more pro level players in the squad should have the advantage.

Others in this thread aren't too worried about it. Let's examine Denis the Menace with Canada:
Monday - plays singles and doubles
Tuesday- plays singles and doubles
Wednesday - off
Thursday - hopefully QF
Friday - off
Saturday - hopefully SF
Sunday - hopefully F

So its a little rough with five singles and five doubles matches in 7 days, but its not horrible especially when off-season follows. Russia may go all the way as a two man team. They play Monday/Tuesday two days off and then three in a row. To win a Masters or 500 you have to play 5 singles matches and often 5 days in a row and best hope maybe 5 of 6 days for Masters event.

Looking for the worst schedule....UK has worst schedule which is five days straight. I have no idea how these schedules were chosen.

Russia swept Croatia today with just two players. Khachanov played a total of six sets in one day (the maximum). With conventional davis cup tie, he could play 10 sets of singles over 3 days and fives sets of doubles. Here his maximum is 9 and 9 so very close on the maximum. Minimum would be 6 sets of singles and 6 doubles. Traditionals Davis cup is 6 and three sets. So by this analysis you are right. Doubly so in the case of the UK where they play five days in a row; that could get ugly.

If you’re in the USA, Rakuten Video is $5 for every match. Video quality was not great today though, kinda looks like it’s in slow motion.

Link below.

Rakuten Stream
Brilliant! I'm going to see if that works on some other devices now as Rakuten has TV app. I emailed Davis Cup support and they are too stupid to provide a link. When I went to Rakuten it said not available in USA, but another site.

The Davis Cup site is 5 Euro for tie and 8 Euro for the entire day which tomorrow includes 6 ties. You also can spend 40 euro for entire year and get all 7 days at a discount. Poor marketing on their part showing a year price. 30 euro for the finals would be a lot, but maybe more palatable. Of course ITF has their heads shoved up each others other ends so they like to start things off with rampant gouging.:sneaky:

Rakuten needs a daily price. Of course the final for only $5 a bargain of sorts.

I've got some replays I'm going to try on TV and see if the quality is over the feed. Viewing on my laptop its certainly not 720p or better.

I checked out the Davis Cup video option but I’m not going to pay 8 euros a day, too much. Rakuten video is $5 for the entire event including every tie. However, I think it only works in the US.

Anyways, much better deal than the ITF site :)

I tested this some. The app on Android was blank. Only one sample availabe on IOS/Ipad Pro while the website had all the highlights for free and to test.

I think the video quality is upgrade over feed.

NOW YOU ARE DEAD WRONG ON PRICE. @Nostradamus ;) THE FIRST DAY WAS FREE AND ITS $5 FOR THE WHOLE EVENT. I just signed up and I'm checking it out!

I bought it and test it:
1. Android app not to sure about, but will try tomorrow; right now its blank and appears to not work at all!
2. Ios app - works nicely on my ipad and the quality looks a bit better than what I saw today, but you cannot screen mirror properly to Apple TV! So can't really get it on TV unless you send 4:3 image which looks quite stupid.
3. Xbox - cantankerous, it will play, but it looks identical to the feeds in this thread which were very easy to access from monument browser. The standard internet browser with symbol of shadow of hand on wall is the only one that will play Rakuten videos (Monument won't). It appeared set on making me login in for every video, so if using Xbox pirate and buy the Rakuten service if you want to donate to event.
4. PC - adequate, not 720p quality. I have a 17 inch 1080p screen and I might say its blurry if in cork sniffing mode.

In short don't buy yet if using Android. If you have Ipad I'd fire away. It almost looked 720p. I plan to just keep my TV off for the most part and cuddle up with Ipad wherever I wish to view. If guests over to watch then I'll use Monument on Xbox and put some feed links in this thread to click on from Monument browser.

Whatever you do US Viewers please consider donating $5 to Rakuten and buy the service so we get this option again.:p They may cancel the whole event without maximum support because their ticket sales at the event are worse than the Madrid Open which is a fail.

I'm interested to see how the ATP Cup stacks up vs this Davis Cup format. I mean, for a lot of people the season ends after the ATP Finals in London, whereas for the ATP Cup it'll be a lead-up event to the AO so people should be more engaged with that? Plus, it says there is $15M in prize money for that event too.

Netherlands fielding Botic Van de Zandschulp, age 24, against veteran Kukushkin. According to the ATP, the Dutchman is ranked #200, so he must be playing Challenger events but I've literally never seen his name before and I regularly check Challenger draws, so I'm going to need to do some research and see if he's had any decent wins. Kukushkin seems to be handling him well so far.

Nishioka handles Monfils 5 and 2 - Japan and France go to a final rubber in the doubles. I imagine it'll be Herbert/Mahut vs McLachlan and probably Uchiyama (as they've partnered up before).

In the USA, Fox Sports 2 has the USA matches. To get the other matches you must go here and pay 40 euros for the year or 8 Euros for the day of 5 for just one match.
Just click on the video and they'll take your money. I'm not sure if these feeds are any better than streaming. Never used it so unknown quality. ITF is a horror show of a website with no statements as to video quality and the price is outrageous. Don't give these clowns your money.

The ATP Cup will be broadcast on Tennis TV for most of the world. May also be other options. The attendance is sparce in Madrid. Again ITF are total clowns.

In the UK Eurosportplayer has all the matches (broadcast too on one of their channels). It is only 8 pounds for a month, but you need a VPN service for UK. I've not used them in a while because I broke the hdmi connnection from my laptop to TV (broke the receptacle on the laptop:mad:), so I'm confined to laptop viewing. Eurosport should be 720p.

If you've got computer, tablet, phone you watch tennis on compliment that with Rakuten Sports app coverage for $5.

This is an amazing week with a ton of tennis. So many great matches and great doubles matches.

I don't think ATP Cup will have the crazies in force like Davis Cup. But I expect the Auzzies to turn out in droves for all the great tennis. Madrid is shameful. I swear the only people out for these matches are diehard partisans.

One wonders if people bear Pique a grudge? Or is they feel they're supporting the enemy teams by showing up for their matches? Or Pigue has horribly mismanaged the event along with the ITF?:sneaky:
