Peak Simon ended a while ago. It's easy to forget but all the Kohlschreibers, Fiasco's and Deliciano's and Seppi's as are oooold as fuuuuuck now. It's ****ing weird they're still top 100, cause they're not as close to as good as they used to be. Sure the average 35 year old is better than 15 years ago, but the point still stands. If youngsters at their physical peak can't compete with these dudes, then they're just not that great at tennis.
This. Unfortunately stats will show their high ranks and performance against a completely transient field, which, while inherently a completely unfair test, conveniently undermines the eye test that concludes as you have. Watch something like Deliciano from the US07 4R; he just isn't doing that anymore, nor would I ever expect him to.

Nick really has mental problems. I don't know how you have a serve like his and get broken twice so quickly by a player like Simon.

A bit disappointing from Nick there. He had BPs to serve for the match when Simon served *2-4. He loves basketball. He's a fan and wears Giannis jerseys, a gritty, never-say-die fighter, yet he showed that? C'mon Nick, we want the 4R Nadl/Nick match.

Nick gets impatient and tries to attack from the forehand. I think he needs to attack from the backhand - he has a more suitable technique for doing it from that wing. But he doesnt want to add even a little bit of drive to his backhand shots. His forehand is too spinny to cause Simon any trouble at teh moment

Sucks for me that I will be missing all the fourth round and quarter final matches plus the first semi. So possibly will miss out on Nadal v Kyrgios, Nadal v Thiem, Medvedev v Zverev, Djokovic v Tsitsipas, Djokovic v Federer. But back for the final and TTW Jeopardy :)
Ah, that's rough. At least you'll be able to watch the final, though.
