Who wins?

I don't think these players are thinking that. They are thinking they want to win every match they play, so it's better if he wins and gets through to quarters, even if he does have to play Djokovic there.

Either Roger withdraws or he wins in 4. Matteo's weak BH and bad movement will be exploited by the Maestro.

I think Federer pulls out from the Berretini match.

If the match happens, I think Berretini will be too much for Federer. Federer will only win if he Steamrolls this match. Otherwise it's a Berretini win in 3 or 4 sets.

He seemed a little agitated at the last question regarding Berretinni.

He has no business being agitated.
It is disrespectful to Roland Garros and to the fans to withdraw because you are afraid of losing. Would not be hearing such talk if a qualifier was waiting in R4. What a disgrace.

i just saw the Press conference and roger said he may NOT even play........................ LOL. How can he do that to us fans ?? Doesn't he at least show up and put up some effort against Berrentini,,, doesn't he owe the fans that ?

Lifelong Roger fan, but this is really no way to go about business. Not even HE is bigger than the game. Treating Roland Garros like a practice event is bad enough, but pulling this crap 36 hours before your 4R is really disrespectful towards your opponent - and if he does show up, this interview will come off as an underhanded tactic to mess with Matteo's head.

If Roger just pulls out, would ATP have the balls to fine him ?? He will probably have his doctor write up some fake injury report.....LOL. Too bad roger gave it away during the press conference

If this was a pattern throughout his career, i wouldn't be a fan either. It's not easy playing at this level at almost 40 and after two knee surgeries. I think we can cut him some slack for being extremely cautious right now.

Listen to his words. Listen closely. "Is it a good time to take a rest?" "How much time before Halle?" "Is it risky to continue?"

Fed is not particularly injured. He is talking about saving himself for the grass season. Also factoring into his decision is the risk of suffering an embarrassing loss to Berritini or Djoker. That is why he is threatening to withdraw.

It is just disrespectful to be treating Roland Garros as a practice event.

Fed is in a bit of a pickle. He either:
. Withdraws whilst being fit and without an injury. A disrespectful and shady move that I think will come back to bite.
. Loses to Berrettini whilst playing dubious mind games with an innocent young player.
. Loses to Djokovic in a match the whole world will know about and suffer furthermore in the h2h and therefore his legacy.
or he
. Defeats Berrettini, Djokovic and possibly Nadal in which I will tip my hat.

;)

He must show up to play Berrettini and let the chips fall where they may. He may have a great serving day and pull out a win. That is how a true GOAT thinks.

Respect the tournament and show up like a man.

It would be atrocious if Federer withdraws keeping grass season in mind. This is not his personal practice session in backyard of his house.

Picking Berrettini to win it in 4. There is very little chance if you go by yesterday's performance. He was clearly gassed by the end of it. Berrettini will win the game as he has the weapons to beat the great man

Federer if he decides to play, will make a match out of it. He is way too crafty for Berretini

However, Novak is going to run both of them ragged. Federer hasn't met someone who can make him run point after point. And Berretini doesn't have the return game and rally ability to keep up with Novak.

If Federer is actually fine, he might win this. And I think he will make for a more entertaining QF with Novak.

Berretini is boring for me.

a bit like nadal pulling out of tournaments to juice up for clay season?
I am okay with player not coming at all. But after three rounds with some difficult matches looming one shouldn't allowed to make mockery of tournament. It throws balance of tournament out of the gear.. bad precent and undermines the tournament.

wow.. you are equating an actual situation with a hypothetical one. This is next level stuff.

Yes sir, if his knees blows up then he can do it. I am talking about voluntarily withdrawal keeping grass season in mind.

Why does everyone on this forum not like Berrettini. To me his game is ok. His serve is great and Forehand is very high quality but for some reason people on this forum pretend as if he does not deserve his ranking. I like his game. BTW he has improved his BH and this is reflected somewhat in his results

If Fed withdraws, it will be because of the effects of this last match on his body and because of concerns about his health and recovery.

It would be wrong to expect him to play if he is told that it could cause a setback with his knees, and end his comeback and possibly his career. You could argue that he shouldn't have played RH if he wasn't sure that he was ready to play 7 matches; but really how could he be sure? Look at AO07 - how sure would he have been that he could go all the way there?

I hope that he will play, because that means that his body is feeling good and his recovery is on track.

He has a massive serve and forehand - pretty good player
He could be even better if he didn't skip leg day lol - his calves seem to be lagging behind his other Top 10 competitors

IF Federer is in shape to compete, it'll be a very different match to the one we just saw.

Berrettini is all power - not exactly in it for the long rallies. Also his return of serve needs work. So this is a winnable match unless Berrettini is able to zone for a couple of hours and Fed basically doesn't show up
It will likely be different. Koepfer was outside the top 50. Berrettini is top 10.

His clay season is third best to Nadal and Citypass but is ignored because of the first and less lethal 2019 virus called CranialCrampona-19, contained to this forum. The combo of getting crushed by fedr at Wimby and beaten a little less thoroughly at USO by The Nadal make him the butt of Cheap Shots Warehouse jokes and memes. This defies the logic that his losses since M-C, his first tournament back since a real abdominal tear at AO, are both to higher ranked players (Zed, Citypass). He’s 13-3 on the dirt with a 250 title and a M1K final but he’s labeled a MUG. That’s Cheap Shot Warehouse for you!
