Very good match, both of them played well IMO.Congrats to Novak for his first title in 2009,this was one of his best performances lately.Ferrer was in very good form as well but Novak's was better today.

Nice to see Novak finding form before DC and IW.

Novak wins yet another title without having to face Nadal, Federer, or Murray. That happened in Rome last year (both Fed and Nadal were gone in early rounds), Masters Cup 2008 (Nadal didn't player, while Federer didn't get a chance to play Novak, and neither did Murray) and now Dubai (where both Fed and Nadal didn't play, while Murray has withdrawn).

Federer should watch out for his #2 ranking. While Novak lost many points in Australia and Federer gained some, this Dubai win should give Novak points and a boost of confidence.

Bravo Nole. Finally hes found his form, and what timing. Great final but in the end Nole outplayed Ferrer. Looking forward to Davis Cup next week.

I'm with you on that but can't say I am comfortable with his level of play at the moment. Wait until he meets a real challenge. He's got to do a lot better than he did out here.

Come on man. So Cilic, Simon and Ferrer aren't real challenges? These are some of the best players in the world.

Congrats to Nole!!!
He overcame some challenges during the week.

Earlier today, Novak Djokovic overcame David Ferrer
7-5, 6-3 for the Dubai championship.

Any win is a good win, right? :D

Simon certainly didn't rate his performance as challenging or world class this week. He was really down on his own level of play in the presser

Lol,that's a bit of a sour grapes from Simon although he's right that their match wasn't of high quality. Both of them were playing mediocre tennis(or so it seemed),it's just that Novak somehow pulled it through in the end, similarly to their match in TMC last year. Both of these matches were grindfests and Novak emerged as a winner both times which I assume is something that Simon is not used to,he normally wins these type of matches, they're his specialty so to speak so I understand his frustration.

Well it's not like Novak had a cakewalk either.Simon is tough for anyone and Ferrer and Cilic were in good form.I think this win in Dubai will be good for Novak's confidence.

I certainly hope so, he hasn't looked like he could even come close to winning another grand slam since aussi 08 but I hope he can regain his confidence and challenge Nadal and Federer this year. With him back in shape we can have really high expectations on this years tournaments.

If Nole plays a lot better than he did in the final against Ferrer, we whoud be unbeatable...

wow, were did you get that from. Most of the top players didnt even play this week. I will be more impressed if djokovic can beat tsonga, murray, etc.

I just watched the final--Djokovic had flashes of brilliance, and his forehand looked impressive. Noticed he was slicing more off the backhand, and even hit a nifty slice approach shot. On the down side, his hair made him look like Bob's Big Boy, but perhaps I'm just quibbling.
