Who will take home the "ship" this year? Stan Wawrinka is the defending champion. This year Andy Murray and Roger Federer will also participate. Unfortunately, Novak Djokovic is out.

The seeds are the following:

1. Andy Murray

2. Stan Wawrinka

3. Roger Federer

4. Gael Monfils

5. Tomas Berdych

6. Lucas Pouille

7. Gilles Muller

8. Philipp Kohlschreiber

So, who will walk away the winner?

Let's hope Berdych runs into Federer in quarterfinals.

Let's first hope he gets there.

I'd rather Fed face a quality opponents like Murray or Stan in the final than a Monfils.
Not a huge fan of this tournament because of the geriatricerer set, but if Pouille doesn't get stuck with Murray he might wake up here. Medvedev, Paire, Evans, and Khachanov are all in decent form. Monifils will be 4th seed, so everyone will want to draw into that quarter or perhaps Wawrinka's.

Potential QF matchups; let's keep Pouille away from Murray:mad:, the rest also are pretty weak of course except for Berd Poop. This would be good to see:

I'm surprised Kyrgios didn't return...he was on quite the trot from Marseille and his first title and into the SFs here before the back flared up vs "Sorry to tell you".

What a weak field this year.

But there's fedr so is good.

If fedr plays anything close to what he did at the AO he should take anyone here, anything below a SF with such a field would be dissapointing.

When's the draw btw?

I don't think it's out there yet.

To be honest, I would like a Fedr-Mury final. If Fed is to win the title again, I want him to at least beat someone important. Stan would be good too.

Stan won on a fluke draw last year- don't imagine he will defend his title. He looked really uncomfortable all tournament. Plus he's coming back from a small injury break so he could be ripe for an upset (if you can call it that with what he's like in BO3 tournaments.)

when is draw, friends?

I don't think it will be before Saturday or even Sunday. So, quite the wait :(

Seems very hard to look past Roger in the finals, and quite possibly Andy or Stan, depending on the draws. But on such a fast surface there is always potential for surprise, so nothing should be taken as given. Will try to catch a match or two for sure.

So many picks for Federer. Insanity.

If I were to bet my money, I will on Roger Federer. What's exactly insane in it? Can you name a player who is a better favorite than him on this court? He even straight setted Novak Djokovic in 2015 final.

I am not saying he will certainly win but I honestly think that he is the smart choice for money

You're too greedy.

Only bums until the SF and he can beat both Wawrinka and Murray on these fast courts. If I had to pick the winner I'd go with Fed too.

Fed is still not 100% physically though. He might not give it his all even. But if healthy I'd pick him over Murray given the court speed.

Well he did beat the buttpicker in 5 with that groin, pretty sure it didn't get any worse?:)
It's a tough injury to rehab if it were a pull or severe strain. A month away from match play should be enough for recovery. The question is whether it or his fairly busy celebration tour curtailed off court training regimen.

Fingers crossed, wanna see the old man play :)

The last 3 slam winners are in the draw. I don't see how this is a weak field, considering this is a 500 tournament.

Paire, Youzhny, Pouille, Murray, Wawrinka. Not a bad gauntlet by any means. Youzhny shouldn't be difficult, but Paire can have a good day. Pouille is off this year but is still coming off of a nice vein of form not so long ago.
Then we have mury goat, followed by Finalrinka. #Normanerer has his work cut out.

Evans-Brown! we are being spoiled with some nice old school tennis I hope

I hope Roger takes that clown Paire to the cleaners.

Fairly good draw for Roger, but Murray could have done much better. Jaziri is doing OK, Troicki can be a handful, and then it's off to Muller or Medveded who are no pushovers. If Dubai is as fast as it usually is, he might struggle even before the SF's.

Rog has got Paire, Youzhny and Pouille, none of which should be a challenge, but of course the old man can have a brain fart and lose any of those matches. Still expect him to make the SF's at the minimum, and I really do hope he gets to play Andy.

The other side is really anyone's, Wawa can lose any match, and Monfils just lost to Gasquet, so his place in the SF's is not assured. A tough one to predict that half of the draw. Should be interesting, though, but it does seem that Acapulco is the better quality tournament this year.

Pouille was injured early on (toe) but is healthy enough now to have finally won back to back matches to advance to today's SF vs Gasquet in Marseille. Another two wins this weekend would be proof enough he's no pushover.

I tend to agree with you, but the guy just won a major 4 weeks ago, so it's hardly surprising Roger gets so many votes. At that same major, Roger defeated Stanimal and Murray fizzled out early. Those are the only 2 challenges he should have in Dubai and he's certainly capable of destroying either on a HC.
