Congrats to Andy Murray 2016 Wimbledon Champion!

Raonic is the only big server that has ever truely troubled Murray. The Queens match was a lot closer than people think and yes Milos's level did drop and Murray's got better but this is by no means assured to be another slam for Andy. Really hoping Raonic can win and show the haters he that he is worthy.

Raonic says, "Take off, ya hoser!"

I would actually like to hear him say that! He could use a little swagger.

I have a bad feeling. Raonic seems to be playing near unbeatable tennis.
All the pressure is on Murray and he will have to play lights out. I'm worried.
This isn't going to be the formality many people think IMO.

As much as I hate to say it, the OP is right. Now everyone can realize how bad the state of tennis truly is and will be in another year or two. Congrats Andrew, opportunistic as always...

Ah, Fedex cheer up - Raonic playing "unbeatable" tennis? He certainly looked beatable on Friday and in his 4th Round match
And Andy's not a man who's likely to give anything away to the opponent.

Not a formality, but I think it will be a great encounter - possibly 5 sets.

I'd agree and even favor Raonic with his big serve in this tight match given their recent encounters and Murray's history of inexcplicable rashes of poor play. But, @Gary Duane has informed me that Mr. Murray is winning nearly 64% of games at Wimby this year and that is a huge number for a grass court tournament. Others state he's playing better than 2013. I believe it from what I've seen. Mr. Raonic will have his hands full in this match, because Murray is peaking right now. I doubt Murray takes this in straight sets, but I now think he's going to win in 4 sets. He's going to gut this one out over a GOATing Raonic.

The porky man will be a bit tired tomorrow, plus he will be really nervy out there being his first slam final.

There's no chance Andy is losing this. It was about time. 3 out of 9, right ?

Much easier draw...Broady, Lu were both WCs and overmatched; Millman has no weapons to hurt the top players; Kyrgios the headcase; Jo stung him hard but had no legs for the fifth set; and, of course, the King of non-achieving tennis talent, Sir Tomas de BerdTurd.

Raonic, on the other hand, had a reasonably tough draw that has made him focus on what does and doesn't work. PCB was not a gimme for a 1R match; Seppi and Sock were as tough a 2R/3R combo as anyone but Djokovic (Mannarino, Saminal). Then came the murderers row of Goffin/Saminal/Federer.

Raonic is battle hardened and better for it. Premature to be handing the trophy to Muzziah before he earns it vs a very stern opponent.

Meles, looking at stats right now I see Murray: 90/23. That will be around 56-57% on grass, certainly OK. However, that will be before Wimbledon, because usually the ATP does not update these stats in a middle of a slam. And we both know the majority of games are played at Wimbledon for a finalist. I do enter in TBs as a game to the winner, because anything else would be horrendously complicated, but a TB is worth almost two games because of the number of points played. So I'm being pretty conservative.

Murray was at 67.89 after four rounds, obviously VERY good. That is second only to Federer in 2004, 68.52. For all games is he 4th on the list at the moment, and tomorrows results will bring that up or down - probably down, but not much.

A straight set victory of 6/4 6/4 6/4 would move him to 5th. A closer match will bring him down a bit, but it will still be a very good Wimbledon for Murray. A loss with the same scoreline would pull him down to around 61%, so you can see how the last match impacts the % for 7 matches.

I'm more optimistic for Raonic than many. I had hoped he would bring his return game up to around 20% of games, and he has not yet done that. But when he is on at the net, he's awfully hard to pass, and it is VERY difficult for even guys like Murray and Fed to find his backhand. He has a rep for being a bad mover, and I don't think that is quite right today. So I think if he is red hot on serve and does not make a huge number of UEs, he could take the first set, and the guy who wins the first in a slam final always has a huge mental edge.

This. I can't see any of the top 5 apart from Fed blowing a slam final against Raonic. Andy is perhaps second only to Djoko in consistency and reliability. When was the last time he lost a big match to a player ranked lower ?

I hate threads started with congratulations to a player who the op thinks will win. It's an insult to the other player. Matches are played for a reason
Here's what I would like to see: Anyone who predicts a win, guaranteeing it, should get at least a temporary ban of a month for being wrong. Wouldn't that be fun? ;)

LOL. Stan blew his QF at Auz this year and Murray was toast there too and now Federer. Your list grows thin.;)

I am specifically talking of a slam FINAL. Where Raonic is a first time finalist and just glad to be there.

I don't see any of Murray (or Djoko / Nadal/ Stan) blowing that one against a nervous Raonic.

Please let us not go to extremes. He played a long five setter against Marin and lost in the next match in five sets to an opponent who is ten years younger than him. I am not using silly fan boy logic that Roger would have won if he had not played a five setter in the previous round. All I am saying is give Roger a break. He doesn't deserve these kind of negative comments.

Why the need to get so emotional ?
I am not slighting Federer in any way, but just stating the reality as of today. He is overachieving for his 35 year old self by almost making a Wimby final but at the same time it is completely unrealistic to expect him to be a lock in a final against a lesser player the way he was 10 years ago. The other top players who are 5-6 years younger are more reliable on that front. Of course they won't be either when they are 35, is it that hard to see ?

Fed fans were hoping that someone can knock out Djoko for Federer. But Querrey and Milos did the job for Murray.

Many Federer fans considered reaching a QF a strong effort. SF was almost too much, IMO. I thought Cilic deserved to win the QF. I am quite sure he would have beaten Raonic.

Give Raonic a chance, tho. If his serve is completely clicking, like against Federer (served over 70% 1st serves for large periods), Murray may turn sour, and Murray´s 2nd serve is very much attackable for McRaonic ;)

But this is the slam final with the heaviest favourite in years.

Raonic has a better chance than most offered Wawrinka versus Nadal at AO'14 in his first slam final. Look what happened!
