Davy to beat Fed???

Davydenko may have been unbeatable with the players he has beaten so far but he wont be against Federer. Everyone thought Gonzo might have a chance against Federer at the Australian Open because he destroyed many of his opponents but then he ends up losing in straight sets in the final.

A masters series crown is a significant achievement for a tennis player. Being a top 10 player in the world is pretty gosh darn elite.

I get the impression that nowaday's it's not very hard to get into the top 8 in the world. Allow me to give you an example:

In 2002 Federer finished as number 6 in the world, in GS he had 2 first round defeats and two 4th rounds, in MS he had 5 that were 3rd round or worse, one final, one win and 2 quarters. That is pretty pathetic if we're being honest, for someone who was at the time supposedly number 6 in the world. Sorry just doesn't cut mustard for me.

If he had won a GS then that would be really good, but ONE MS in his whole career, suggests a player who is a one hit wonder, flash in the pan, nothing special tennis player.

Davydenko isn't going to beat Federer. He's good but not that good. Straight sets 6-3 6-4 6-3

I bet Davydenko gets more games than that. I think his strokes are good, but not his brain at the end of the set.

His chances are slim. I heard their record thus far is 0-9. If he manages to get a set off of Fed it'll be the first one.

There will be one or 2 close sets, with scores like 7-5. Fed will once again waste a bunch of breakpoints, Denko will earn his and convert them. It will not matter. The result will be a foregone conclusion in everyones mind (I would say except for Denko fans but I can't think of any!). The other semi will likely be as enjoyable, unlike the women's. After soaking in some quality tennis, I will got out and destroy my hapless opoonents!

why not? if davy serves faster and moves to the net more often. he can't beat fed in a baseline rally. plus he should make fed commit backhand errors :)

Canas has had some pretty good results this year. He lost to Nadal in the finals in Barcelona and went to the QF at the French. It takes a lot more than one tournament to go from unranked to 14th in the world in less than a year. Volandri got Fed on a bad day, but he's been a top 50 guy for a number of years with several good results in Clay events.

You have room for only about 6 non-pathetic nobodies in the world. It's very impressive that you can extrapolate being in a phD program to becoming a foremost expert in the field. By your own standards though, unless you're in serious contention for a Nobel Prize, you're a pathetic nobody. Good luck.

True. Ninman is a little like Donald Young, no? Oh I 'm one of the topmost juniors in the world and someday I 'll be one of the top contendors for the US Open.
Besides, what does "foremost expert" mean? Top 100 in the world? 200? 300? Canas & Volandri are top 50 in the world, jackass.

Yeah, foremost expert in a narrow math field can "properly" happen sometimes since there are "properly" less than 10 guys involving in.

Anyway, I suggest at least 2 sets will come to 7-6 either Fed or Davy way. It's not easy for Fed to break Davy's service if he doesnt hurt himself

only nadal and djokovic is able to beat the great federer...
the rest..? is either breakfirst or lunch for federer

Honestly, taking two tiebreakers off of Federer in a MS final is one thing, especially when he held six set points in the first set. However this would be a GS final, and he'd need to take three sets off of him. In reality he barely scraped a win against Federer in Canada, in the USO final he'll be humped like a little *****.

He took a couple of more sets one on hard and one on clay against federer in 4 previous matches. Id say he is gradually improving, maybe not sure bet this year, but who knows, maybe aussie open ?

I hope for a tight 5 setter, davy is as phisically prepared as federer only weaker. Can he hold him to 5 thats another question but djoker needs easy win and hard fought other semi final. These are dreams but I DARE TO DREAM ! ;)

Being in the top 10 in the world means that you're one of 10 unique individuals who can play at an elite level.

This is objectively hard to do.

As usual, Davy lost before stepping on court. What a shame for his technique but Fed's shot selection is nothing but perfect. Fed did not win but Davy lost.
If Nadal had Davy's game on hard court he would have been in today final.
