Djokovic's dad refers to Thiem as "some Austrian..."

Translation of an interview with Novak's dad:

"I didn't watch when Novak had medical issues [in final against Thiem], I was driving around the city for 1.30h and I came around the middle of the 4th set and fortunately he started playing [better]. For me, Thiem didn't win any set because Djokovic lost 2 sets and won 3 sets because everything depends on Djokovic, not only in the match against Thiem but also in the match against every other player in the world"
[question about Novak's support in AO]

"7 time AO champion plays on the center court where he never lost any match, in the final, and he plays against some Austrian and they cheer for the Austrian, just imagine that disrespect to Novak. That's just unbelievable but it's the same way as in London, New York, it's better in Paris, and the same [bad] in Madrid. That's a sport for rich people and they can't understand that someone from poor and small Serbia has been the best player in the world for the past 10 years. Cheering against him only gives him additional energy and he will become the best player in history by every parameter. He is the best in every aspect and he is Serbian from Serbia and when he ends his tennis career he will live in his country in his city.

That happens in every city around the world and he doesn't complain about that. In Sydney, when Serbia won ATP Cup, there were many Serbians and Nadal couldn't handle that and that happens to Novak for the past 15 years and he never complains. [following sentence directed to Nadal] Be a man, be a sportsman and tell him [Novak] "Well done", it's like that for him [Nadal] everywhere, in Madrid, in London, everywhere where is the rich Western world and they are "higher race" which they are not because we have shown that we are equal and old civilization so there is nothing to be ashamed of. "

...[talking about the war in Serbia and Novak singing songs about Kosovo]...

[question when does he expect Novak to beat the record for most GS titles]

"This year he will equal with him the number of GS titles because he will win the other 3 GS till the end of the year, he will overtake him for weeks at number 1 around 6th or 7th October, and also, he will win Olympic games in Tokyo."

It’s true that no matter who Djokovic played in the finals, the crowd would be leaning towards rooting for the other guy, not due to Djokovic being from a poor country though. Calling Thiem “some Austrian” is disrespectful, yes, but I’m willing to let it slide given the pain the father must feel over the fact the crowds all over the world refuse to give Djokovic love and respect.

The last bit in bold seems to be an irrational assumption, and emotionally fueled.(n) For potentially putting unneeded pressure on Novak.

I used to give Djokovic a bad time for his outbursts and his poor relationship with the public, but I guess coming from this stock we should all be more understanding.

Reminds me of the guy the camera showed in the AO Final with a t-shirt that said "Serbia Against the World" LOL

When was the last time the Djokovic parents were in his box during a slam? I think it was the USO 2015. And when was the last time Jelena was in his box for a major? She missed all 4 majors last year and wasn't in Australia. Why don't you start a thread about why they are never around during his big matches? That's a legitimate question.

The increase in discussion about Federer's nebulous qualitative traits (so classy , so elegant  ) is directly proportional to Novak's rising slam count & weeks at #1. It will soon hit a crescendo, where every topic will center on the effortless elegance with which Federer whips his challenger-level backhand, how his rapidly receding hair flows like silk in the wind, and the honey-like glow that radiates from his Botox-infused forehead. Surely tennis achievements matter less with each waning tournament, and each record that falls was never very important to begin with. It's the style that defines who is GOAT... the increasingly nervous Federer fan tells himself for the 10th time today.

Another parallel narrative is that we are in a weak inflationary era where none of the achievements actually count. This is an interesting argument coming from Fed fans, to say the least

This guys ego is higher than literally the atmosphere, I mean holy hell. ALL 3 SLAMS? Now I know some Chernobyl radiation’s in there, jk but are you kidding? And he said Rafael Nadal doesn’t show enough respect? Something is going wrong up in there

When Djokovic is 38 and has 2 Chapionship Points in Wimbledon against a 6 year younger player call me back, kiddo.

Why no classy?

That got me thinking. Where have I seen something similar before?

It must really eat you up inside that a literal barbarian who was raised by wolves and communicates via tongue clicks is able to completely dominate your false idol—a man who was raised by a colonialist from apartheid South Africa with a silver spoon in his mouth. Seethe more

Federer pays taxes in Switzerland. If Nole loves Serbia so much maybe he should move to Belgrade and start paying taxes there, no?

As far as domination, let's wait until Djokovic is 38 years old and see how well he does against guys 6 years younger than him. 20 > 19 > 17.

And just as nervous as the rest of you when Fed held MP :-D

Ready to go into hiding, hitting power buttons ASAP
Novak letting Federer think he had a chance to win before ripping his heart out and pißing on it is the sweetest form of victory. You not only get the trophy, but you've demoralized your opponent and ripped away any confidence he had left. You didn't think that Federer had an actual chance of winning that match, did you? Oh you poor soul.

He will move to Belgrade when he's done playing. And no, he won't play at 38 because he's not a desperate, insecure old man who's trying to protect his precious records despite neglecting his family, just so he can earn more money from endorsements. That man has mental problems.

You have some mental problems if you think Federer is neglecting his family, no? Fed is not the guy who got in hot water with his better half because of eloping with some Indian actress, am I correct? Yes, I am.

Why is it that nationalism appears more stupid in a small country when the nationalism of larger ones is both more stupid and damaging?

As if it was planned that way, uh huh.

I always believe Federer has a chance until it's over, but I'm sure you were sweating beads that day :-D

Omg Novak is going to lose to nearly Retirederer LOL!!

I'd pay many dollars to see the faces of Nolefam in that moment.

Djokovic reaping the rewards of having his two main contenders off their prime, and still with MPs against in Wimbledon and unable to ever beat Nadal in the RG final.

That's a famous club in LA that's lined with paparazzi. If he wanted to cheat on his wife, he wouldn't go to a place where the intent is to get photographed. That's Deepika Padukone, a famous Indian actresses, and they're good friends. When was Novak ever in hot water with his wife? If you're going to spout Daily Mail tabloid trash as fact, this is minor on the scandalous scale.

As for Fed, yes, tugging four young kids around the world week-to-week as your decrepit dad repeatedly loses isn't a good environment for children. They need a stable home, not a suite of hotels, chauffeurs, and nannies as their dad desperately tries to preserve his records in vain.

Yeah, it's much better to leave the wife and the kids home so you can go to fancy clubs with Indian actresses, no? :D
