I could care less about gracefulness. I don't care for ballet either. I prefer the tough style Nadal has. Something lacks in most tennis players these days. The only other player I find watchable on a consistent basis is Andreev. The topspin game is a fun style to watch. Seeing such consistency and not being frustrated with so many errors and short points that kill the game.

Not seeing errors? Nadals game is to rally and force errors from his opponent. He is brilliant at it, no doubt, but it contradicts what you are saying.

That is just utter bollocks. It isn't true in any way. Yes, he is different than most tennis players, as he lacks finesse, and grace.

The graceful players aren't wimps, they are still stacked, and if you have seen live ATP tennis up close, you should know that.

If you don't see why people like Federer, then you don't like real tennis. What Federer plays is old fashioned tennis. I'm not saying you have to like or support him, but showing confusion when people praise him is just absurd. One of the reasons people dislike you, is because you come across as close-minded and ignorant of the heritage that comes with tennis.

A lot of my friends who don't really pay attention to tennis are Nadal fans. That being said, a lot of my tennis playing friends find him boring. I'll let you make of that what you will.

You have a point there. When I really stop to think about it, it's the same with me and my friends. I never really thought anything of it until you said something.

I meant so many unforced errors. Nadal keeps the point going since he doesn't make a lot of errors which makes it more exciting. It is frustrating seeing players go for broke so much.

What brought a lot of people to not like tennis is that it isn't a macho sport. The ones that preferred tennis aren't usually the macho type. See where I'm getting my thoughts? Nadal is so much different then the usual tennis player. In basketball he would blend right in with the other tough players but in tennis, it is more a negative. At least compared to 80's and 90's tennis players that were all mostly skinny. Maybe the future is changing and tennis will be more of a macho sport rather then thought of as a wimp sport.

What exactly do you qualify as a macho sport? What are its main characteristics? I'm being completely sincere (for once) with these questions.

But surely attacking tennis is more exciting than defensive tennis. You are describing characteristics of defensive tennis. Your arguments seem to change constantly.

No I'm saying it is not fun watching your favorite player make a lot of errors. You want to see perfection and Nadal is very close to that on clay.

It isn't a bad thing, if he is playing positively and aggressively to make a few errors. If you eradicate risk and error entirely, then you turn the game into a robot sport.

*Watching someone play conservatively, and within themselves to keep the point going is not interesting, no matter how close to "perfection" you deem it.

Think of it this way. You wait 25 seconds to only see a quick error or winner rather then an exciting ralley. It is a no brainer that I prefer a player that is willing to work the points and not try to end it right away. Of course a mix of being aggressive and not making many errors would be ideal. Nadal did that to Federer in the French Open Final.

This is where our opinions differ. Constant rallying, to me at least, is not interesting. It also angers me that you think serve-volley is a strategy-less tactic (an oxymoron in itself.) Sure, I can take rallying in the clay court season, but it isn't an all court strategy, or at least it shouldn't be, and that is why it becomes boring, as it is all you see from Nadal, and various others.

Nadal would look tiny in the NBA. Nadal isn't all that big. The difference between him and a lot of others is that he sports the sleeveless shirts that show it off.

here again, I was quite surprised at how people can come up with this kinda statement. Davydenko doesn't become a top 5 year after year by being predictable and dull.

the greatest thing about him, other than taking ball on the rise, generating great pace easily for a no-so-big guy like him, impeccable footwork and consistency, is his ability to change direction of the ball at will at any moment in a neutral rally around or behind the baseline. It's great watching him starting to attack after 2,3 ball in the middle of extremely neutral ( deadlock ) situation, the placement, pace, is not only great, but is 1 of the most efficient in terms of input/output ratio.

And, as every1 know, he really is just a serve and a mental strength ( and some luck ) away from becoming a slam champion....

You say some good things that I agree with, but you have to start wondering when he just can't get a ball by federer and djokovic. He can do it vs. nadal on hard courts because nadal's shots sit up a little bit and nadal starts to slowly lose ground in the rallies but imo davydenko doesn't have the power and precision of a novak or federer off the forehand. Stylistically his strokes are also monotonous without being enjoyable imo.

After that davydenko is really lost once he gets off the baseline, he has very little feel for the ball and he loses a lot of the interesting/awkward points that happen on a tennis courts. He is a lot like agassi in that way.

Add to that his zero personality and you have a winner! :)

It seems many people here misunderstood the poll. This is not about which player you hate the most, we already know it´s Nadal on this board.
This poll and others like this are a good lesson to those Federer fans who complain about the anti-Federer posts and posters. I have no idea why they think this board is a neutral place or why they think the anti-Nadal and anti-Federer posts are balanced. Nothing wrong with being blind but don´t try to convince others that things are balanced on this board.
And voting for Federer as the most boring player is as "respectable" as voting for Nadal so don´t call others names just because they picked Federer.
It´s also interesting to see the hypocrisy of some posters who pick Nadal as the most boring player while they don´t miss his matches and usually post on his matches threads.
The good thing is that tennis fans around the world always want to see Nadal and Federer. They attract more people to the tennis courts than anyone so obviously tennis fans are excited to watch them and so are the tournament organisers, former players, etc.
So obviously, Nadal and Federer with their different styles and personalities are the most exciting players to watch for tennis fans around the world and the rest aren´t close. Fans are excited watching them from the stands or on tv more than they are with any other player. The last thing they are is boring.
I can imagine the average tennis fan logging in here for the first time and looking at this poll. He would probably think this is a silly place.

I have to agree with this. I didn't vote, so I haven't seen any results, but it's pretty sad when Nadal is beating out someone like Simon or Karlovic for most boring player.

I've got to assume you're kidding.

Nieminen, Vliegen and Ljubicic are all pretty boring.

I hear the commentators say how exciting he is all the time, but sorry, I don't see it. How exciting can he be when he barely wins matches on the circuit?

I hope you're joking.

Never saw a good match with him in it. What exactly does he do? Every time I've seen him he lost. I'm going to go and look up his career and year-to-date records. I don't think I've ever seen him win an important match. Matter of fact, I know he hasn't.

Who plays like that? It's obvious Nadal doesn't. Seriously your hate for Nadal makes everything you say biased against him in any thread. That goes for all the other Federer fans who hate Nadal. No way Nadal should ever lead polls like these but the haters find a way.

Ahh great viewing on who voted for Federer, the usual suspects (and great to see Mungo back- thought you had been banned?)

9/10
gamesampras- 259 (10.32 posts per day)- not so much a Fed hater for Nadal's sake, rather a Sampras lover against everyone else [how dare Roger come close to Pete's record]- great postings in the former section- including how it could be possible for Pete to beat Rafa on clay- quickly becoming the most interesting poster on TTW

2/10
fedace- 9023 (12.18 posts per day)- a timeless troll, but always lame without the comedy value of a mungo or a Nadal freak- a 12 post per day value really shows dedication to his craft of trolling

10/10
mungo- 367 (0.65 )- some consider him to be Nadal-freak's ALT, others consider him to be uncle Toni in disguise.... whoever he is, Roger Federer is never safe when Mungo posts. 367 posts of pure hatred for Roger.... but comedy gold. the best poster on TTW

9/10
Nadal-Freak- 7005 (8.39 posts per day) at 8.39 posts per day and 7000+ posts, its amazing how NF has survived for so long, some consider his many ALTs as perhaps the reason, other just think the mods enjoy someone as obsessed with Rafa as he is. very few have such a dedication to their sporting hero- if NF is hetrosexual... i would eat my hat (not that its such a bad thing....im just saying- to be that commited to your 'hero' takes more then admiration)

7/10
sureshs- 7729 (6.57) another 7000+ post troll....

Interesting accessments.

Nadal:
Spectacular movement
Unbelievable mental strength
Lefty spin serve
Handsome
Nice body
Humble Funny
Original

Agassi:
Stays in the middle of the backcourt
Dictates well, but amazing gets are rare
Did ok in the mental area (I guess)
Kinda of a weak serve
Strange shaped head
Pigeon-toed
Very articulate
Never saw much humor there
Was original in his early days, but fashion sense was whacked.

Now, knowing how I came up with my reasonings, what's seems crazy?

Ha ha ha. Hey, looks do play a role in society. Would Rafa have got as much attention if he wasn't so darn good looking? No. Why did Maria get more attention than Henin? C'mon, Gorecki. We all know the answer to that. Marketers have persuaded us that looks matter since the advent of television. That's why they use models to sell everything from cars to toothpaste, but anyway, I don't know what it is but I just can't do pigeon toes and bald heads. J/K

Thanks. :)

Exactly!!!!!!!
Specially when the two losers , Freak and Morrisey (very bad singer) go to USO to see Rafa lost to Murray, ha

I miss, Freak is a loser too, but I want to mean Zaragoza, he he he

It looks like there is a new troll in town. In case you read that thread you would know that we didn´t go just to see Nadal. We spent about 12 hours a day watching tennis matches along 2 weeks and his result at the USO was the best ever. Not only that but I missed the first set and a half of the Nadal-Murray match because I wanted to see the end of Federer-Djokovic.
It´s easy to see who is a real tennis fan and who is a troll.
Do you know who is the world no.1? Guess who is a loser here.

careful.. he will come here and acuse you of only talking about tennis fans even though he has not posted one single word in the equipment section and call you mediocre!

That´s what you really are and what you usually do and you do it in a rude and classless way. If I post or not in other sections of this forum is not your business. I have contributed on this board more than you with different kind of threads and unlike you I´m not talking trash on every post. This board would be a better place if people like you were banned.

Sparing me your usual passive-aggressive banter, explain why the bold parts matter, or rather, convince me that they should.

Also, how exactly is Nadal original (this is a serious, non-rhetorical question because I think I may be missing something here)?
